>>10958928I will be formal dancing and swimming at this con!
i will be ogling the swimwear cosplays
First time goer here - any recommendations specific to CCE?Separately, how crowded is the line to go to the formal? Can singles go and hope to catch a dance or is it mostly couples?I already know how to keep up with anime cons but this is my first time at a swimming focused one. I have 3 bathing suit based cosplays and 2 regular cosplays planned so far.
>>10958949don't wear anything to the waterpark that you don't want chlorine to fuck up. Formal lines are non-existent once everyone gets in, so just give it a minute and walk right in. Singles are allowed but they do usually enforce the dress code even down to appropriate shoes. Maybe someone will let you slide but they usually are strict.
>went to otakon first time this year>had a blast>this is close enough to where I can make it and afford a ticket>friend is getting married same weekend Next year I'll be there
I'm hosting a spelling bee and plan on pissing myself laughing at people.
Do they still do the big 5 on every floor?
>>10958928>TQ: What are your plans?Drink, cosplay, and host my panel. First year staying at the Kalihari and I'm hype as hell.
>>10959470Kalihari is good. I used to live up there.
>>10959470Should be fun. Never been to the resort. What panel are you hosting?
im ready to bring out my shitty cosplays and eat shitty food for 4 days its gonna be great
>>10960096Where are you getting food? Are the on site dining places good?
>>10960303not them but the rooms have microwaves, stop at the walmart and get a bunch of capped soup and bowls to survive cheap
Any amenities at the Kalahari worth using if you're staying there?
Do any of you plan on doing anything on Saturday in particular? I recall there being an event with people from here at Colossal Con East in 2023, but I did not manage to make it to the event, even though I did get to the convention. I have been to several conventions in the past, but becoming part of any group at these conventions has not occurred for me.
>>10960363Saturday I plan to hit up the different big 5 suites and see how they're doing
Do you guys like colossalcon? =)
>>10960353They got coffee makers and fridges
This con is pretty wild. Booze everywhere and shrines to shit. I love how the resort allows stuff to hang on the doors.
>>10960390So far so good. First time here
Bros what the fuck. I have no idea what to do at this con. Everyone just sidles in with their friends. Where's the parties? Where's the socializing?
>>10960532Have you tried literally just talking to anyone you dumbass
whomst done this
Next year I'll be there. I was at a wedding this weekend so i couldn't make it. How was it?
Piss denial
Is colossalcon even fun? Seems like a waste if you cant wear your cosplay at the waterpark...
>>10960532>>10960620>doing it THIS wrong
>>10960600It was alright. I think this'll be my last one. My friend bitched out during the water park and just wanted to float along the lazy river for three hours like a fucking autist because of "motion sickness." Really killed the vibe.
>>10960600I had an amazing time, this was probably the most complete con experience I had of all of them>Weds night day 0 we all went to one of the restaurants and sat and ate together>thursday night we all swam and rode the big 4 person rides and chilled at the swim up outside grotto bar>friday the formal dances and photoshoots>saturday had so many concerts like the string quartet and just partying at the 5 into the nightand thats not counting the normal ol con hall stuff I felt like there was always something to do or see and I'm absolutely going next year again. it was fun to even just go up and down the halls looking at all the door posters and signs
Holy cringe
>>10960669I spent so long looking for the fucking big five that by the time I found them I was done for the night.
>>10960690wdym its just at the end of the hall, how did you need to look for them they're marked by statues. genuinely curious what confused you
>>10960696For some reason I thought they were all in the hotel proper.
>>10960474this one mightve been my favorite of the shrines
I didnt go this year but I have some questions since I'm planning to come next year. >when does the sign up begin >is there some kinda discount for buying a package room + ticket>is the water park worth the money
>>10960815There's a "convention rate" for the rooms when they go on sale, which is lower than Kalahari's standard rates, so that's the discount. I don't recall exactly when rooms go on sale if that's what you mean by when the "sign up" begins. If you're staying at the Kalahari, you get water park wristbands with the room, so you won't have to worry too much about it being worth the money or not in that case.If you aren't you can buy passes to the night swim which are cheaper than buying a day pass. It's pretty chill on Thursday night so you can check out pretty much everything in that 4 hour period. It gets pretty crowded Saturday night, so if you mainly want to socialize and stuff that would be the night to go.If you haven't been to a Colossalcon before, the room parties and waterpark are the main things people go for. So if one or both of things interest you, you'll probably like the event. The regular convention shit isn't that great.
>>10960815>Keep an eye on their media for when rooms go up, dates for next year already posted.>no package deal>water park daytime access is included with your hotel stay. night time swim which you need to pay extra for, is probably only worth it if you have friends to go with
>>10960845>>10960846If you happen to stay at the kalahari, do you know how much your ticket and room cost when added together? Just trying to budget and put this money to the side asap. I'm guessing the tickets and rooms go pretty fast. How was the 18+ section? What exactly do they have? Hentai manga?
>>1096084728+ shopping is nonexistent, badge early pricing is probably like $80, but the room is $1000 for a thurs-sun stay so you will need people to split it with
>>1096085618+ oop u know what i mean
>>10960732Oh hey there's my empty Absolut shot bottle, nice. Was shocked to see a Touhou shrine but as a Touhou cosplayer, it was nice.>>10960700They are though? Just exit the convention center and keep walking through the lobby all the way down to the other end. Spent a good chunk of time at 3399 and 4499 Friday and Saturday night. Shout-out to 4499 having Wii Sports Resort up Saturday night, friend and I played that shit for an hour while trading shots.
