I'm not very experienced with cons. When it says "Cosplay Photoshoots" on the website, what does that mean? Do people cosplaying a certain series meetup and have photos taken together, or is it something else? Can I go even if I am not cosplaying and want to look at the costumes?

You could join the /cgl/ Discord or speak to any of us at a con, hang with the /a/toronto folks, or become a part of any other Ontario group interested in cosplay, anime or conventions. Your best bet is Anime North but there's plenty of communities that regularly meet even outside of con season.
