There seriously aren't people who do this are there? I get that things are expensive, but going into thousands of dollars of high interest debt for a few weekends can't be a thing
>>
Oh yeah, it happens. Seen folks go into thousands because they needed it for their "mental health" and cons were the "only thing that makes me happy!"

Don't get me wrong i'm all for having the occasional splurge for a treat but it shouldn't be to the point of building debt.

That's fucking insane. I get cons are great and it's nice to have a community. But the damage that this debt does to you is so bad.

What's the long term plan for these people. Get someone to cover the bill?
>>

Not me because I’m not retard with my finances but I do know someone who literally chose going to a con over their fucking electricity bill for the month… only for them to beg online for money after the con was over to “help a queer cosplayer in crisis”

Many such cases

well, thats the problem right there
>>
Ive seen stories of people blowing their college funds on shit like Coachella, Taylor Swift or Beyonce tickets

If i were ever irresponsible with money, i wouldn’t go to an anime con and instead would live my weeb dreams with a japan trip

I can go to a three day convention with 200 in my pocket. If I drive I sleep in my car if I don't find someone to room with on the cheap, or if I fly I go homeless at the nearest all-nite diner or squat in a unbooked room. Free food is everywhere, especially in the service corridors. At [REDACTED] I found an entire room full of meals prepared for some business conference and shoved a few into my backpack, it BTFO the MREs I'd brought with me.

when will people stop pretending that being a faggot or any of its subsidaries isn't a symptom of a larger, systemic issue?
>>
My therapist told me to spend money going to bars, dating apps and any anime con event I wanted to go to despite me telling her and showing her repeatedly how much money I make. Of course I listened to her and now I'm even further in the hole.

Uh...sweaty? Don't you know you're not supposed to say things like this on a site where anonymous faggots will judge you for not wasting money when you didn't have to (o algo)?

i spend thousands because i splurge for suites and host parties. even spring for valet bevause it's convenient. never had an issue with debt because i have a job and do this for fun. shouldn't really be an issue if you're not retarded with every other purchase you make in your life
