I want to organize a local KPOP/Anime//tg/ convention. What are your tips for first time convention runners? What do you expect at minimum from any event you go to?

It is super noticeable and not that hard to do properly.I've been to events where they run the audio/videos from a potato that struggled to open a damn video player.Make sure you dont get antivirus popups (lmao, who uses an antivirus anymore)Have a playlist with enough songs that you dont have to repeat. Once went to an event that had like 6 songs on a loop, it was irritating.Mind aspect ratios for projectors. Modern projectors are all 16:9, but there are still a lot of 4:3 screens around, particularly provided by venues (they never change the screens because they dont break). You can set up your videos for 4:3 so you dont have part of it projecting outside of the screen.Mind audio clipping, it happens when you turn the volume higher than the amps can actually handle and distorts the signal, it sounds like shit.If you have performers scheduled, try to avoid repeats of songs. A cuple weeks back I went to an event where 3 guests (planned guests, not random participants) sang the same song.If you want to have contests and give prizes, make it clear what youre giving, whether you give cash or merch, make it clear.
