Anyone here going? I'm a local so I'm definitely going but national harbor is a 50 minute drive or a 2 hour train ride for me. Not sure what I wanna do. I heard parking is too expensive and that most if not all hotels and airbnb's are sold out
>>10963195I'm going but I'm kinda butthurt about having to take the shuttle. Nobody I know, not even friends-of-friends-of-friends, got a room at the Gaylord. New lottery system sucks.
>>10963233I have no idea what the lottery system is. Can you explain? I read the website but didn't get it
>>10963236The new system requires you to declare your party number and select a leader. So a group of 4 would instead be represented by 1 person, rather than 4 people trying to book a room for their group in the old free-for-all queue. Supposedly this way is more "fair" but I never failed to book in the Gaylord with the previous system, now I'm on the other side of the river reeeee
>>10963237That's fucked. Luckily my friends and I found a house in temple hills but it'll still be like 15 minutes from the airbnb to the venue. Sucks ass but I've also seen people online complain about the new system. Thats a really dumb way of doing things. Not sure what they were thinking with that
If you want a badge I suggest you get it now because badges are almost sold out.
This years lineup reeks of mainstage dpt members having their 40s mid life crisis
>>10963288Don't be such a negative debby
It's my first time at magfest. im going with a few friends but im really interested in the jam sessions. I've been playing bass for a year now so I'm going to be trying that out but what were your favorite things to do at previous magfests? The only other convention I've been to was otakon earlier this year which i loved.
>>10963288who would you pick instead you whippersnapper
>>10963288What's dpt mean
>>10963335hit a small nerve, eh?
>>10963195I went this past February and had a good time, but can't go next year due to IRL reasons unrelated to whatever they did to the lottery system this time around. One thing I want to emphasize for the non-locals is that I was strongly advised against flying into Reagan airport anymore, mainly due to the accident with the helicopter that happened around the time of MAGFest and that not much has been done to avoid such accidents at that airport in the future. My plan for next time is to fly in at Baltimore and then drive to wherever I'm staying for the con from there, dunno how well that's gonna work out though.>>10963323>what were your favorite things to do at previous magfests? The one I went to this year was my first MAGFest so I don't know if a sample size of one is good enough for you, but I thought it was my best con experience ever after over a decade of going to things like these, which is strange because I consider myself an anime guy more than a video game guy. I thought the shows were really good and going to them was my favorite part of the con; I didn't really pay attention to the lineup before I went, but after getting to the con I was pleasantly surprised to find that several acts I follow online were playing live shows there. The thing I liked the most was how all-encompassing the convention was towards the concepts of music and games; if you like either thing it's very hard to not find something at this convention that you'd be into. One of the panels was about video games from the 70's when each game had a unique circuit board, to give an example of the scope of the con when it comes to vidya.
>>10963435>not much has been done to avoid such accidents at that airport in the futureIt's hard not to be anxious about this.
This will be my first MAG, my friend convinced me to finally go! It looks like a lot of people are switching from Katsucon to MAG after bad experiences at Katsu + how delayed Katsu's hotel block was
>>10963484I saw a lot of thot influencers denouncing katsu after the water leaking in artist alley and saying they were going to do magfest instead despite it being the same venue. I don't know if it was just virtue signaling for clout or if there's any real intent but it was a sentiment I saw echoed right after the pipes hurting videos started going around
>>10963473Fingers crossed nothing happens because I have a non refundable flight booked already
How cosplay heavy is this con? People who have been would you recommend it or do you think it'd get in the way of experiencing everything?
>>10963489From what i see it's pretty fair amount of cosplay. I'm doing kingdom hearts and maybe jujutsu kaisen, even though it's not an anime convention.
What's the food hack? Is there a grocery store nearby one could stock up on?
>>10963505IIRC the CVS there sells liquor and grocery items. You'd have to drive to a real grocery store.
>>10963489It's full of males cosplaying as women but that's a full time thing for them so it doesn't really count
IT'S FUCKING SOLD OUT I CAN'T BELIEVE IT
>>10963620Damn my friend was talking about going but he was trying to scrape up money for it. Rip.
>>10963505IIRC my group and I went to Wawa all three days, but we were also staying across the river and had a rental car.
>>10963473>>10963488Bad news gullbros, there was another aviation accident today with that UPS plane in Kentucky ;_;
>>10963624I should have known, early this year was a cluster fuck with it selling out like 2 weeks before which was abnormal. So many scalpers and scammers made money from the shock that it was only going to get worse the next year.2 months is a long while though, there will be chances to do a transfer.
>>10963627Praying you all have safe flights
Bought my tickets on a (moderately) drunken whim last Friday, and it looks like I managed just in time. Now, I just have to figure out everything else about the con. I believe I have some buds with a room somewhere close, but driving in 1hr each day isn't too bad if it comes to it. I just gotta figure out what I'm goin to cosplay as.Either way, I'll have a car close by if any gulls need emergency rides or something.
>>10963774Nice my friend also got his last minite even though I thought he didn't get it in time. I'm pretty pumped for the jams. I've never played with a lot of people before
Anyone here going to the music jams to play?
Bump
Is anyone cosplaying? I know the scene isn't like katsu's but is there still a significant amount of cosplay, just less influencer types?
>>10965131I am going as roxas. I saw there is a cosplay content. So I'm guessing a fair amount of cosplay
>>10965131I'll be in a pre-bought at least one of the days. Not sure if I'll wear it for the other days, or if I'll just go in closet cosplay or street clothes for the other days. The funny thing is that I know my boss also bought a badge, so there is a chance of me running across him while I'm dressed as an anime twink. Only time will tell how that turns out
>>10965147Are you recognizable in cosplay?
>>10965131only the finest in DEI cosplay at magfest
>>10965149Craftsmanship. Black people have to excel there to be taken seriously even if they are conventionally attractive
>>10965148Between my height and build, he probably could. Especially if I don't end up wearing a wig, and I really hate wearing wigs. He's a cool guy regardless, and he already "knows," so I won't lose too much if I see him
>>10965149You are gonna love their guests (prior years they hosted Sonic Fox).
Definitely going. So many good photoshoots on Friday and Saturday it is hard to pick one. Might try and party a little more this time. Will hit at least one rave.
Surely some rooms and badges will free up after this bombshell
>>10963195Let's hope the sewage doesn't leak.
>>10965342Why? Who is this?
>>10965365I think that's what he means. Nobody knows who this is so it'll fail and open up spots su future magfests
>>10965342How come they deleted/blocked this announcement?
>>10965464They aren't officially a guest anymore. Magfest got a lot of backlash
I think I'm gonna make some stickers to hand out this year. Any ideas? I was thinking I could do a cosplaying seagull for the epic 4chan reference, but I might just do an anime girl instead
>>10965469That'd be cute. Are you cosplaying at all? Maybe stickers of the thing you're cosplaying or the seagull matching you.
>>10965464They may not be an official guest anymore but is likely to still be attending on mag's dime. I'd imagine this literal who vtuber is just another nepo-guest along side what most of the shit programming that gets accepted. Just know someone high enough in staff and you'll get taken care of. This one only ruffled feathers cause it's a cunny model.
What's the party scene like?
>>10965510>a cunny model.I normally don't care about UOHHHHHH but the bobas and pussy had even me going like "god really, Magfest?"
>>10965602My friend who went last year said it's easy to find party you just gotta ask around
>>10965603Vetting will always questionable. Just be in the staff friend circle and your chances of getting accepted skyrockets.pic related, last year's vtumor guest and friend of the vtumor this year
>>10963489Lots of it man, with meetups to see more. People will bring big ass props and shit. There were two people dressed as Monster hunters sitting around a fake spitroast that rotated. Or the fallout meetup had radroaches on the ground to see. I met a guy dressed as a costco employee handing out free samples >>10963521and this ^ lots of troons
>>10963521This is exactly why I'm going.
>>10965796Magfest really is chaser heaven.
>>10965810Good to know. I have an airbnb, I'm local and I'm the kind of guy they go after.
>>10963195I'll be going. 2nd time. The banning of lobbyconning seems kinda weird, since they sell out of badges anyway and it's way less crowded than Katsucon.
>>10965602Just go to the roof club.
Am I allowed to bring a lunch into magfest? I am going to be tripping on acid and I'll need food and don't want to pay every day. Also want to carry a water bottle but I don't know if there are rules against bringing in liquid. Like if I came with a water bottle would I have to dump it before coming in or is it fine to have it pre filled?
>>10966173You’ll be fine, they let you bring in outside food/drink. I always come to mag with a bag full of munchies bc fuck paying Gaylord prices. Just only plastic bottles allowed in the main concert hall.
>>10966173have you been before? I'd suggest waiting until the 2nd day or something before getting too high.Mag can be a lot for a first-timer - even sober.
>>10966229Nah it's my first time but I'm with a group of people so I wont be alone. We are planning out our days and everything this weekend. >>10966222Thanks good to know. What do they sell at magfest as in merchandise wise? Last year at otakon i was able to buy enough cosplay stuff to make a whole outfit for around 100. Would that be possible at magfest or is it all video game related things?
>>10966232The merch hall is like a combo artist alley/dealer’s room all in one. Mostly video game/board game/ttrpg stuff but a little anime. Not a lot of cosplay. Highly rec downloading the Guidebook (app). There’s a list of all the programming and merchants there.
>>10966246Thanks ill check it out
>>10965602Even if you don't find a party just hang out by the gazebo. People are out there playing music and hanging around in decent numbers all night.
7 days now. Really excited for my first mag. See you guys soon
What photoshoots are you all going to? I am watching the Uma musume one, the Warhammer meet, and the Capcom one. I plan to attend the Halo photoshoot.
Anyone know what the difference between an instrument locker vs a regular is? I got an instrument one >>10966364Kingdom hearts and neo twewy. I got my friend a lotr cosplay and a Zelda one. So I might go to one of those if I'm not busy jamming. I just now made my schedule and as a first timer, I did not know they had events going 24 hours. I'm definitely staying up all night on the first day but with the insane amount of shit to do feels like there's no room for sleep.
>>10966449Hell yeah, that's cool. I never got into Kingdom hearts but it looks like a fun series to cosplay
>>10966474My only problem is I have dreads so I wasnt able to fit any of the wigs I bought and they cant be custom made. It's fine but makes me sad
>>10966477Yeah I guess so. You can't cut it shorter or something?
>>10963233Not to be a jerk but this is literally what everyone (who didn't get a room of course, nobody with a room would complain because they are happy) says. Last year me and my party (group of 5) had to do Alexandria. My group of 4 this year got bumpkis in the lotto, but our other friend and group of 4 got a suite so we're all rooming together. Statistically because MAGfest sold less tickets as the cap was smaller you would think it'd be easier to get a Gaylord, but everyone who gives more of a shit, ergo the ones gunning for a Gaylord room, would have made it to have been bought in time for the lotto, and those same people would have been attending the live lottos of yesteryear had they done it this year. Think of it like this; the first wave of hotel rooms came and went, and yet I heard next to nothing about some choosing not to get the room they pulled so it could be available for wave 2. Because of the party system, you don't really have Mem X and Mem Y both pulling a room and for them both to book it, Y's for "safekeeping", harshly cutting down on the redundancy and excess. I have no numbers or figures but on paper this seems to be the most respectful way to do it, with an exception being>we have 5 in the group but could only put down 4, so 1 guy has an extra slot in the lottery alone like a side betI would really want to see the numbers because they made it sound like a group's odds for a Gaylord is higher than the sum of the same number of individuals. There is just so many people that you won't always get good odds with the Gaylord. It often requires heavy networking, but ironically if you have a crew you go up with like me you can't just be duplicitous and ditch to go with the best deal every time.
>>10966480Nah I definitely dont wanna cut my hair yet.
>>10963487Funny because the Walter E Washington had a water leak during Otakon I think 2 years ago. It keeps happening, bros. >>10963505Delis and corner stores in the harbor. Me and friends will stock up at the Alexandria Walmart and just make food in the room. >>10966173You are safe everywhere EXCEPT the concert hall. There are lots of tables and chairs in the atrium (first come) around the shops, and a few tables inside the con area but you can never tell if someone official has that table or its just open.
>>10966497I have a metal mug I use for water. Would I need to have a plastic one instead you think?
>>10966498They'll tell you to leave it outside the concert hall but you'll be good everywhere else. I mean of course be courteous in places like the museum or game/LAN rooms, but nobody gives you shit for sipping. In fact I say the opaque container is best for some alcohol stealthing. Friend of mine legit does that with a child's sipping cup, she finds it cute. Of course if you're trying to bring alcohol nothing beats a flask, that you can easily sneak in the cocnert hall. Me and my friends just take the Gatorade or water bottles and mix potions yo stuff in our coats like taking outside popcorn into a movie theater.
>>10963195WHEN THE FUCK CAN I PICK UP BADGES!? The new registration at the side door is going to be a fucking mess. If you haven't gotten your badge by wed/thur enjoy sitting out in the frozen weather for 4+ hours.
>>10963236>but didn't get itnobody did. the new lottery system sucks ass and includes all the local hotels. I just started booking the mgm because it's a fucking mess. It's crazy because back when I could barely afford a badge I was able to book a room across the street every year.
>>10966541I saw online that they sometimes do early badge pickup on Wednesday night but how do we know if thats happening?
>>10965810Where do I find the femboys anon
>>10966543wander down to the area and ask a couple staff members
>>10963489>How cosplay heavy is this conIn my experience it's about mid-tier. It's a nerd vidya and music con first and foremost. You'll get some good cosplays but they'll be drowned out by the sheer number of balding middle aged troons.Don't get me wrong, Magfest is one of the best cons in terms of what it brings for entertainment. But in terms of con-goers? Expect a lot of gross people obscuring your view. If you want to look at model hot tits go to Katsu next month
>Day before the con>thread slow as fuckShows how much 4chan is dying to where it's the least used place to discuss the con.
Keep an eye out for the white boy in a kimono at the fest, I'm down to party. What I really want to do is play some LAN Kirby Air Riders, don't own a Switch 2 but that City Trial is just as good if not better than the original. >>10966621At least the less busy boards. /v/ is still rapid. But isn't that kind of a good thing? So many Indian/Russian/Chinese bots here to shitpost and stir up confusion and chaos ruined our culture more than normies ever could.
>>10966621They should move the con to an area that allows higher attendance if they want an active thread
>>10966623The National Harbor basically turns into the con during this event, how much bigger can things get?
>>10966621Yeah i was expecting more activity here. The discord is active but don't wanna talk there.
>>10966622Does /v/ have a magfest thread?
>>10966621Sir, you're 10~15 years too late. All the active seguls moved on. All thats left is degenerates like us still eyeing the threads and lookin to gamba.
>>10966631They don't last long obviously and you have to be stealthy about it, like maybe complain about gaming experiences at cons or something.
>>10966543Word from my volunteer friend is that they can't do that this year because they're busy processing many staff badges
>>10966549At your mom's house nerd
>>10966622I shall look for you white boy in kimono
badges are officially open for getting as of 10 minutes ago imma try and get mine before work tomorrow then I got a room at MGM once I get out of work.
>>10966653Hell yes, so glad I was wrong
>bought shrooms and dmt for me and friends>one friend has 3 tabs of acid>friends got gifted mushrooms so we have extra>we all picked up weed individually We accidentally have a lot of drugs. I am planning on jamming so I can be super fucked up but I'm definitely going to be tripping until Sunday >>10966653Was gonna go tonight but the 4th friend in my group fell asleep early. Probably would've been a waste of gas anyway. Getting there tomorrow at 1130
If you're a femboy find me
>>10966621I'm not going to be there until Friday afternoon, so I don't have too much to say yet. I'll be in a slightly scuffed Len cosplay for Friday/Saturday, and I'll have some dumb stickers to hand out and a bottle to rip from, so say hi if you see me around
>>10963195>anyone goingim staffing it
>>10966672I got an instrument locker but not everything i want to put in my locker is an instrument, is that okay?
>>10966690Do it until somebody tells you to stop, regular lockers sold out weeks ago so I dont think they will care unless one volunteer is a jerk
>even more troons than last year. This is why we gatekeep, people
>>10966698>goes to a very trans friendly event>shocked when theres trans peopleCan only imagine the magpie meetup crowd
>speed dating panelMan I was planning to try to get one woman friend but after that seeing that shit I'm gonna just be autisticly walking again
>>10966672Wtf is going on anon why is the line not moving
>>10966703What line?Prop check line was brutal looking
>>10966704Every single line. Locker line hasn't moved an inch and I'm tired of holding my music equipment
>>10966698I wouldnt be mad at this but most are ugly
>>10965342im excited to see her
Oops, I got drunk a little early. Hows the game room looking?
>>10966709I thought they canceled ?The outrage was hilarious desu
I'm tired of walking around the gaming hall. Where can I go to play music?
Every other trans girl here looks like my ex and it's driving me insane
>>10966700Excuse me sir this is a LAN party for nerds, nobody asked for this . It was not by our authority that this is the case.
>>10966712Jam space, but youll moist likely have to sign upJam space aint what I used to be where you can just go and play what you want, you have to mostly play along with sheet music with a whole band
I had to get up at 5am for work today and I'm already tired. Start of this day sucked bc of the locker situation and I took 3G of shrooms and didnt get high. At this point I wanna lay down and smoke weed but my friends are still busy>>10966716Man that sucks i don't really read that well yet. So I just wanted to setup and play with my friends. What floor is it on? Is it beginner friendly?
>>10966631It did, the old MagFest was amazing but now it's a sausagefest full of trannies and retards. The original MagFest CEO and his buds got #MeToo over stupid shit.
>>10966724i want to see her...
>>10966724This is why I find major cons kinda scary. what if "the woman's" are there? quite frightening
>>10966713Is she balding?
>>10966733No she's like tall, lanky with short curly orange hair. Majority of the trans women here aren't very good looking though. I probably meant more realistically 40% of the trans girls. 50% of them are pretty ugly and 10% of them are cute
>>10966722>Is it beginner friendly? Can be. Go in there and see whats on the schedule to play for the day/weekend. Some time they just jam but planned group plays are better to manage
>>109Protomen or sugar lmao? Damn these guys take forever to prep
Well that was fun
Why are so many people dressed like mimes?
>>10966750Expidition 33
Estelle at MAG was not on my bingo card
Chaser heaven my ass. I wanted to find a boyfriend
>>10963195Honestly, let's hope they don't get a sewage leak like Katsucon did. However, for those who are new, don't forget to participate in the time-honored tradition of doing the Colossus roar.
>>10966743Doesnt help that set A sometimes goes 5-20 minutes late, so the same time setting up the next act and then the act itself are now offset by that amount, which then further snowballs as each act like want encore time or need more setup time themselves.
I missed the soldering workshop sign up because they wll start 3 hours in advance. I want to try and get into this expensive Arduino controller workshop, I pray I don't miss those signups too
If someone has a full recording of the Rebecca Sugar set, that raggae version of the Fry Song, which she says is how the song was originally written, sounded so fucking nice that I'd fucking love getting my hands on a copy.
Where are the god damn twinks bro I paid money for this shit. Too old trannies cosplaying as coffins around here.
>>10966760I am beyond disappointed man. I'm tall black and in shape. I came here to find some cute femboys and I've yet to see one
>>10966760Katsucon, because "Passing trannies" enjoy being around attractive women while living failures do not. That's at least my take on it. I mean Katsu doesn't do anything particular against them so why wouldn't they go? Could it be the draw of attractive model women due to the costume scholarship offers offends them?
>>10966761>>10966762Gah!Gotta have my Twinksâ„¢...
>>10965469Stickers secured
>>10966759Yeah the full fry song with skatube network in the brass really fucking killed itUsually magfest will release all the concerts on YouTube with artist permission. So let's hope Rebecca let's that go public.
finally, the attractive under 30 women start showing up.
>>10966672>bought an instrument locker>guy gave me a key for a locker yesterday and took my instruments >today in cosplay>don't wanna hold my weapons and drag around equipment >ask person at the desk can he put my swords in my instrument locker>show him the QR code on my Keychain>says he can't do it for some dumbass reasonWhat the fuck
>The megas playing in 10 minutes but the concert is short as fuckAm I missing anything but missing this?
>Dat Mrs. The Monarch chilling at the atrium
I want to suck The Gambler's nipples
I'm having so much fun. First time collecting badges, coming to a festival with my friends, got a compliment today from a really fucking hot girl. She looked like she was with her partner so I didn't pursue but if I see her tomorrow I'm going to see what's up. Mag is great . Was planning on doing 24 hours tonight but probably gonna just do that Saturday into sunday then get a good night sleep sunday. Definitely hitting up the night club again with my cosplay on.

>>10966816
Huh, image never uploaded.
I heard the LAN Party down there was insane with a lot of people watching the Packers/Bears playoff game on the stream projector.
>>10966845So pissed I missed this
Part lll was meh, 10 more years guys.
>>10966847It was quite the scene really. The LAN party had too many people watching the game and put a lot of money on the Bears. No one left despite the Bears losing in the 1st half but in the 2nd half more people showed and we're going insane when the Bears came back to win it. Tonight was very special at that LAN party when everyone enjoyed themselves.
>>10966849at least I have my eagles game later
I went, last one I went to was 2020, this one seemed kind of meh overall. So many troons, the dance floor had killer music but nobody was moving, and all the hot slutty chicks show up after midnight and then disappear again. Everybody just stands and occasionally nods. Also, security is just moving all over the place constantly.
>>10966856>The slutty girls show up after midnight then disappear.I wonder where they go?
>>10966856This was my first. I definitely would say there were lots of trans women. Sucks that the good looking ones are always taken. I got some action from a hot bitch so I do think it's just about timing and maybe how you look. Another girl randomly gave me her number cause we were dancing to a guy DJing to DK together. This was at 3 or 4am today though so I think you just gotta stay up very late one night and either be fucked up so you can easily talk to people. Or if you're naturally good with people walk up and talk to drunk ppl to be their friend
>>10966854>at least I have my eagles game laterEagles are gonna get raped by the Niners, you've been warned.
>>10966863What was her cosplay?
People picking up women and having sex at my convention? I think I'm going to be sick...Now that I think about it, I don't believe I talked with a single woman the entire time I was there. Well, I did show the girl playing the SDVX booth next to me how to skip the matchmaking timer, but she just seemed afraid of me and only said "thanks," so I don't know if I should count that.
>>10966870I got rejected by a fat chick so it could be worse. In all seriousness though her drunk as fuck friend calling her over right after she was "crashing out" with a man he claimed to be out of her league was probably embarrassing.I lost interest the moment I saw her but played along, she dipped like a minute after meeting. I'm not good at masking a lack of interest so that was probably it.Or maybe I am just that cooked; least the drunk guy complemented my hair.
>>10966868Bubbles she had pig tails. I am so fucking pissed I didnt make any sort of move. Next year I'm not hesitating. I think i was too caught up in the moment because she was really pretty with a fat ass. I actually did look around for her afterwards never saw her again. I'm also tall and in shape so that does a lot of heavy lifting.
>>10966857If they were hanging at the gazebo at night they got invited to a room party. I heard someone on here claim once that ones hanging around with some black dude hanging around and looking at them are prostitutes, but I don't know if it's true.
>>10966872Lots of big ass girls not enough milkers this year, guess they'll be at Katsu, they usually are.
>>10966876Yeah definitely more ass than titties but I saw a girl walk around with just tape over her nipples. However there was some very nice tits. I saw a very good amount of them
i got to meet petra fyed :)
>>10966875I've seen that before, but last year. Jacked black guy in a bucket hat with a brief case always standing a distance from some slutty cosplayer with her ample cleave on display. She would frequently talk with him but very briefly as if it was a checkup thing. It didn't come off like they were in a relationship, considering aside from that she was constantly talking to other men.Now there was a ZZZ cosplayer stepping on people for money last night at the Gazebo but the black guy was just a DJ and part of her friend group.
This MAG fucking sucked. The Crush 40 concert was the only highlight.
>>10966890What didn't you like?
when did this turn from a retro games convention to an lgbt convention
Anyone here remember this hilarious moment from 2012 when Nobuo Uematsu trolled the audience? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBYjlggRLPE
>>10966894don't be a bigot, anon
>>10966894old guard mag staff were pushed out some years backdamn shame too, it used to be a good con but there are more people I encountered this year who gave me creep vibes.
>>10966894>>10966906You came alone and didnt interact with anyone. You ruined it for yourself. Get your mental issues sorted out.
>>10966894Maybe 2015/6. Every convention and nerd hobby has had this and similar representation crowds start drumming up. On paper there's no reason why you wouldn't be positivly receptive, its just thay when it becomes a dominant focal point it starts becoming distracting. GDC I hear has been especially affected like this. I have no issues with queer panels or even game jams for trannies (trannie jam?) but at some point the focus seems to become coopted, not just shifted, and you're treated as a biggot for finding any of it an ounce annoying or distracting.
>>10966907>You came alone and didnt interact with anyone. He isn't wrong, our hobbies are taken over by degenerates and pedos. This is a problem, a huge problem to be exact.
>>10966907>>10966900Learn to deflect better, "Lilith Girlcox Failmaleus", cuz you're not very good at it
>>10966894I've just mentally blocked it out, I don't really talk to any of them but they do create a visual distaste. I feel like it's a ticking time bomb sort of situation as MAG's party representation increases annually. All I know is I feel the number of hot women keeps dropping and it's not because the core MAG population is aging
>>10966914This was my first mag so my opinion probably doesnt have that much weight. I saw a lot of gay and trans people but I dont think that distracted me from anything. I didnt do any panels, tournaments or watch speedruns. What happened at GDC?>>10966918Im not sure who that is. I will admit saying you went alone was dumb. but I'm still not sure what happened that annoyed people with lgbt besides seeing them around.
>>10966920Going Alone at these things isn't a problem unless you're socially moronic, Spend time at the venue, talk to people, say you went alone this year and ask for a tour of what shit is really like at the con, making friends is easy.
>>10966921That is pretty much what I did. Even with the large amount of gay people, I definitely interacted with more straight than gay. I tried to talk to most ppl that I saw with a cosplay I liked
Where can I download the romhack challenges so I can practice for next year?
The Halo photoshoot was the highlight for me. A lot of fun. What photoshoots did you guys see?
>>10966890felt less "musical" than previous ones. I was surprised that the orchestra was only playing for like 2hours on saturday morning. Previous mags i could've sworn there was always SOMETHING music related going on in the atrium.
>>10966762katsucon is more of an influencer convention. So far more cosplayers there are "good looking".
>>10966935Be friends with the team that run that section and leak em. They don't like to share challenges. At best is maybe they have them at other cons they setup a booth for
>>10966939I thought I'd have more opportunities to jam with people but there wasn't a lot of space for it
>>10966937Hell yeah, I knew one of the guys in the halo shoot, so I popped out to get some pics of him. I guess this is time enough to dump some of the pics I took
>>10966948Marathon guy was funny too. The halo was the only shoot I made it out for. Maybe, one day, I'll try to go hard at photographic cosplayers. I'm still too much of a sperg to shoot people outside of the group shoots, so it'll be some day
>>10966949I should have got more pics of Master Chef, though. His was funny
>>10966951I hope these guys got some good pulls from their packs
>>10966937I was at the kingdom hearts and smash shoots. Next year i want to have a higher quality sora outfit and a riku outfit. I had bought a friend a lotr outfit and he missed it bc he went to the fountain instead of hall e. It really broke my heart cus there wasnt a lot of lotr ppl and I wanted him to get to talk to his people. He doesnt care about being in photos but I think the beauty of photoshoots is talking to other people who have a deep love for the same series you like. I hate being on camera but I'll tank it for the photoshoot conversations.
>>10966952This was my first time buying a badge for magfest and not just bumming at friends room parties, but I was surprised to see how dead it seemed at night. For a 24hr con, I expected to see more people out and about. Sure, I took this pic around 6:30 am, but I can't imagine there were that few people out and about after not sleeping yet
>>10966954Shooting inside the arcade was a bit tough (I'm still a beginner) but I liked this picture
>>10966955Day 2 was pretty rough, both because of the weather and because I had woken up at 5am on Friday for work, went directly to the con after I got off, and got back home to sleep around 8:30am on Saturday. I got a nice 3hr of sleep, and drove right back out to Natl Harbour. Hey, what's a convention without running yourself a little bit ragged
>>10966856>>10966894First time I've gone since covid, shocking to see how much the trannie virus has spread. I read about this shit all the time here, but I assumed it had to be at least a little exaggerated. It's not. I lost count of the number of guys in drag too, super fucked up. I don't even want to know what percentage of that crowd was "just" gay. There was some absurdly degenerate shit in the marketplace. Bring back the mental institutions. No performance from anyone who worked on the mega man series was also shocking considering this year's theme. The theme should have been deltatroon instead. There's no way I'm wasting that kind of money again. I feel bad for the traditional nerds who put together impressive cosplays, and for the unwitting families who bring a kid there.
>>10966956I tried shooting at the main stage too, but that type of photography is pretty tough. This was the first time taking this camera out and about, so I'm still getting to grips with a lot of stuff
>>10966958I wish I took more "street photography" type pictures while I was there, but I know cosplay people are especially cagey about candid pics, so I tried to avoid shooting individuals in crowds too much
>>10966698How do you gatekeep eggs that don't crack until they are like 30? Until then they are neckbeards just like us.
>>10966959Overall, had a fun time, though. It was a bit of a shame that I couldn't really dance at the shows with a camera strapped around my neck, but that's the tradeoff I suppose.
>>10966961My loadout to conventions these days. With my camera around my neck, I can fit everything else in the camera bag. Sure, I miss carrying a full bottle with me around, but a flask sure is convenient
>>10966962As my last pic, Mr Protoman walked through the crowd, genuinely, right in from of me, but I didn't change my settings fast enough to get a good pic of him AHHHHH
>>10966963Oops, one more pic since I meant to reply to posts and avatarfagging is what all the cool kids do these days.>>10966921>Going Alone at these things isn't a problem unless you're socially moronicFuck, even if you're socially moronic, going alone to conventions isn't a death sentence. There aren't as many people as there used to be, but you can usually drop a "who wants to grab some drinks" in a convention thread, and you'll meet at least one or two anon who will join you. I went to this Magfest (and every other convention I've been to) alone, but I've kept in touch with enough people I've met over time that I can usually find a group or two to meet up with at some point during the weekend. The overwhelming majority of these people were anon too, so it's not like you have to start chatting with complete strangers.>>10966939I can't speak for any previous ones but, yeah, I was a little bit disappointed there wasn't jam sessions or music stuff out and about all night. >>10966799Was the audio up on the rooftop bar completely fucked on the other days too? I popped on on Saturday, and it was unbearable, so I ended up dipping down and chilling on the balcony instead of up with everyone dancing. A bit of a shame, too, since I would have liked to hang out up there more
>>10966940Really, so you're saying it isn't the balding men with purses and hello kitty sweaters going into the women's restroom that keeps the hot women away from Mag, but because Katsu has Tiktok OF sluts seal of approval?
>>10966954Friday is true night for night owls, the issue with Saturday is despite having the highest amount of attendees is a lot of people do not book for sunday night because the con ends at 4pm that evening and nobody really wants to go sleepless before the rush to check out of the hotel and beat traffic.I've long felt that Mag should push the Sunday closing time to later, but I understand that the packup process takes at least 3 days.
>>10966957I feel like, assuming some radical /pol/ type shit doesn't happen in the near future, that there will eventually be a conflict that results in MAG and other afflicted cons to splitting.Either MAG gets so fixated on trannies and gay orgies that it loses complete focus and the IT nerds and cosplay fans finally abandon ship or there some some seriously horrible sexual assault scandal takes place.Either way, it starts at the corporate end, a simple bathroom policy could work wonders.
>>10966900>>10966907i never said it was a bad thing
>>10966970There isn't going to be some radical event, and sex scandals are so common in gaming everyone is already desensitized to it. It'll just be the same shit as always. The institution is infiltrated and becomes progressively more debased and radical, pushing out all the original people, then the normal people, then eventually even the gays who aren't gay enough. And there will be no replacement. The only thing we can do for now is educate people on who is responsible.
>>10966970Find proof their hotel booking system is rigged and the domino's will fall.
>>10966976>There isn't going to be Never-everism is a fallacy, I'm sure 1970s iran thought they had achieved a state of western secularism forever; big mistake, people cave like paper bags and within a generation their entire culture changes via the efforts of a small population. But that's not a discussion for this thread, we should focus on the later half of "How do we deal with this particular problem of MAG being veered into a self destructive direction">>10966977This guy has a point for example, if dirt can be dug up on how the system is being manipulated in favor of transgenderism shit will be cleaned out.We know how it can be achieved, just as they did, we get people who are sick of it INTO the higher seats and slowly debase them.
>>10966992>>10966976>>10966970>>10966957wrong!
>>10966968I'm pretty sure it was because the hotel was badge only this year so cosplay sluts couldn't just get a few gazebo photos then fuck off to a party. >>10966977A friend who staffed told me that there were barely any atrium rooms in the general pool because they were all staff/volunteers and that they are probably gonna be more discriminating with volunteers in the future because so many people were doing it this year for the rooms. I hate the new system.
>>10966948>>10966949>>10966951Yo These pictures are tight. I am glad you had a good time at the Halo shoot. Can't wait to see more pictures of it. And yes Marathon guy was awesome
>>10966954Are you sure? What time was this because it was hopping at midnight on Saturday.
>>10966995>The hotel was badge only this year so cosplay sluts couldn't just get a few Gazebo photos then fuck off to a party.Sounds like a fair claim, but like at Katsucon or even Otakon you see hot women everywhere, not just the Gazebo. I simply refuse to believe that's the primary reason Mag is so female deprived.
>>10966992> We know how it can be achieved, just as they did, we get people who are sick of it INTO the higher seats and slowly debase them. This is beyond the scope of the thread, but there are a lot of people with this particular delusion that they can simply "do what the left did" or "vote our way out". Trannies did not become untouchable by simply sneaking into a committee chair and tricking everyone around them. Their status is enforced by the actual power structure, the kind of you can't get a "higher seat" for or even vote for. The real power structure that took multiple generations working exclusively over a century to establish. The gay orgy crowd doesn't have power because they voooooted harder than you or outnumbered you, they have it because the real people in charge began a policy of destroying the lives of anyone who speaks out against obvious degeneracy, because keeping you weak is important to them. All that free speech constitution shit isn't worth a roll of toilet paper, laws don't matter, only what they want matters and they prove it every day. They are not stupid enough to give you access to power that can undermine theirs. The only way it collapses is when an outside force causes it to, like a rival nation.
>>10966995This claim makes a good amount of sense considering the last few years they've been stricter about having stuff hung on the balconies. What better way to control that by simply removing them to the pool and tossing scraps in form of raffles/charity auction (iirc sold for 40-50k this year for 2 atrium rooms, 8 badges, perks).>>10967002You forget most women that model for a living don't play video games. The ones that do show up are basically paraded by their orbiters.
I just dont get why straight people get bothered by seeing trans or gay people. How can you not just ignore what you dont like? It's so easy
>>10967005this, people just want to be angry at this point
>>10967003lmao what is this yap, i bet you like to smell your own farts
>>10967005
>>10967006I saw plenty of trans people but I saw just as many attractive women. I feel like people sat still and didnt explore. A lot of the attractive women were taken but that's not the point. They still showed up they just weren't available. >>10967008Over exaggerating it. I'm not trans so idk how it works but it's not personally affecting you.
When the HECK is the 2027 dates announcement
>>10967009>not personally affecting you.Trans people really only have this kind of social suicide "control" online so I imagine anon got booted from some dork group and thinks this applies to the real world for some reason.
>>10967005I think the irony is lost to trans people when they go to a con that has people dressing up as fictional characters and then you have a mass of balding men in short skirts with gyno tits that are just dressing the way they usually dress in public.
>>10966997The picture was taken at 630ish on Saturday, but I recall it being kinda empty too at 5am too when I walked though. There was still a decent amount of people in the arcade, so maybe I shouldn't have expected a lobby party when the sun is about to rise>>10966996Thanks, man! I've long enjoyed halo, so its fun seeing the effort people put into their armour.
>>10967017Yeah non shit loads of people at the hotel have to be awake and checked out by 11 on sunday.
>>10967020Sounds like a bunch of fakers who couldn't handle a little bit of sleep deprivation to me
>>10967017I want to apply again for next year
>>10967023One big party on Friday night is going to set you back, so even fewer are going to take it Saturday, just saying.
>>10966968No speedruns = far fewer troons.Speedrunning and retro consoles attract balding troons like moths to a flameAlso hot women don't give a shit about "gaming" or some dude's "jam session". They care about getting their influencer pics and then going to room parties - which pretty much is all that katsu is.
>>10966995>I'm pretty sure it was because the hotel was badge only this year so cosplay sluts couldn't just get a few gazebo photos then fuck off to a party. It really wasn't. I had a friend join us by just borrowing another friend's badge to get into the hotel, and then giving it back once she was inside. At one point i forgot to bring my badge with me when picking up a (massively overpriced) uber eats order, and just flashed my room keycard at the staff and he just let me through. So you could've probably just used an old room keycard from last year and gotten in.
>>10967020"elevatorcon" happens starting at 10am... So you really gotta be out of your room by then or else you're standing in line listening to every retard say "gotta go up to go down" for 30 minutes.
