Hey all, I’ve recently been going down the rabbit hole of wanting to dress up in kinda cute femboy-ish or feminine cosplay, but I’ve got kind of a muscly frame. Idk how to size things properly, or even if most cosplay patterns of that kind out there accommodate for my frame
Any advice on shopping for those kind of outfits? Websites to use/avoid, sizing advice, materials to try/avoid, characters that fit the bill, etc would be much appreciated!
Pic related is the kind of cosplay I’d go for, same kind of outfit and pattern

First step. DON'T
Second step. Refer to the first step

you can try to dress up like that, but unless you have giga baby face (which is unlikely) you will look like shit
best case scenario if you are ripped to hell, you will look like a barbarian and look cool, but not cute

Welcome! Don't take offense at this, but we have a whole thread just for questions like yours: >>10941676

It's somewhat unfortunate, but what anon >>10965404 says is true, your success will depend on how feminine your face is. Witness Multiplejacks, (pic) who is shredded but has pulled off multiple female characters because he looks good in makeup.

Your desire to go femboy may also be limited by what you mean by "muscly". If you mean "wirey", costume choice can do a lot to hide areas where you have a lot of muscle definition, and femboy is on the table. But if by "muscly" you mean more buff, you're going to end up either butch or curvaceous (depending on padding choices) rather than petite /svelt. My advice would be to mock-up the costume with some cheap components before you buy (get some gloves and thigh-highs off amazon, put on some tight shorts, cut the neck out of a tight t-shirt, etc.) to get an idea if you'll even look good in the outfit. You may have to adjust your idea of what to wear by looking at what girls who have a similar body type to yours look good in.

Good luck anon!

I think you should do it and not try to be feminine. I love men dressed in dresses or skirts but they aren't trying to look they they aren't men. Comfortable enough with themselves to do that.

I suppose the way I worded it in my post was less than clear, but the way you describe it is the way I mean!
I mean wearing clothes typically reserved for feminine bodies while I have a non-feminine body. I just wanna know how to make it look good on my frame

These are good pieces of advice, so I’ll likely try out some very tight clothes, cut/sew them in the general mockup of what I want, and see if I can make it work on my body. I’d imagine I’ll be using a lot of spandex or other stretchy fabrics to accommodate
Idk what kind of build I’d describe myself as, but pic related is me

I feel like nowadays crossplaying is very accessible; if it looks good it looks good, but if it looks bad most people won't say anything because they don't want to come off as transphobic. So don't be afraid if your crossplay will look a bit off. Also you're putting a lot of thought into it, so the result will likely look better than half the AliExpress cosplays you'll see on con floors these days anyway.

I don't have any real advice for you other than don't assume they won't have your size. The sizes for modern womens' clothing range from little girl to hamplanet, so you'll have a better time finding something that'd fit you than you would have a decade ago when buff dudes were doing gag Misty crossplays.

If your frame is too muscly, you can't
Go for the "manly Sailor Moon" look like pic related instead
