Is it common for cons to deteriorate overtime and be shadow of their former self? I have just been to my local one mostly and once to a smaller nearby city. The first five years were cool because they really try. There was variety, the panels were decent and many happening even at the same time so there were choices. They gave free small gifts when entering the con or give special gift bags to the first 100 peoples, lots of cool things like that. Con is like 14 or 16 years old now. Then they halfway progressively started to get worse and worse and very repetitive, so bad that they don't even have a front tables for the persons talking in panels, they used to record every panel proffesionally they even stop filming their most popular event which is cosplay. Entrance prices at the gate are too expensive. Vendors used to had nice prices now they sell more expensive than buying at the store. A figure that will cost you 23 at the store costs you here 30-35. The organizers lost their passion and the attendees grew tired of the same old or grew out of cons. I kind of blame con goers too because they didnt support or attend many of the good ideas the organisers had at first. They had art contests, multiple panels, bonus after con party, bidding auctions, and other stuff.

It only takes a few years of new execs swapping in and out for them to fall apart.

>>10968820I think they are the same people, the key people that I seen since the beginning are still there. The ones the host panels and the guy that seems to organize the whole thing. They had more people, I think but those get switch. They also seem to mention that they run the ones from the nearby cities too. Maybe they over extended. We only had a summer edition but they also made a wintet edition which is less popular than the summer one.
