As a genuine answer to the foods that non-Americans just wouldn't get, mostly due to their cultural history tied in to both the meals and the prep
>Thanksgiving Turkey
>The 9999 localized pie variants (especially apple and pumpkin)
>Greasy burgers n fries from the local shack
>American pizza and the constant feud over its variants
>Applejack
>Moonshine
>Bold California Red Wine
>County Fair fried oreos, funnel cakes, and lemonade

The biggest difference in food is the breakfasts though. Every culture does them differently, but no one does breakfasts like America. The big breakfast spreads, shrimp n grits, donuts n coffee, hash, ect. England has the English breakfasts, but for the rest of the world that understands that black pudding is not fit for human consumption, and beans are not meant to be combined with slices of bread, it falls short. France has a pretty good breakfast, but its largely just pastries, or eggs prepared in one specific (albeit good) way. Traveling overseas is great for trying new foods, but Americans breakfasts are always what I find myself missing the most.

Are you a non-American? A lot of American food uses a lot of crappy processed stuff. However, barbeque typically eschews all that stuff and is made from scratch. Check out this video of British people tasting American-style barbeque for the very first time.

Can any American bros explain the purpose or complimentary bread/ bread service?
It's a small bun like bread already on your table when you go to sit down. It's free and a part of the service but you don't get anything to put on the bread (i may be wrong here iirc some places do give you jam or butter, it's already there along with the bread)
I'm not very familiar with western dining culture. What is the purpose of the bread? I mean aren't you ordering food anyway?
>>
>>21567143
At any restaurant I’ve went to that gives free bread at the start, they always give butter or some kind of spread or dip with it. The only one I can think of that doesn’t is Olive Garden and thats because their bread is already seasoned so it tastes fine on its own
>>
>>21567143

I'm American and don't understand that. I'm not sure anyone does. No one would eat and enjoy that. American cheese and choco sprinkle doughnuts do not compliment each other. Especially with greasy beef and bacon.

It's just a photo op gimmick. I've never once seen footage of someone actually eating such a monstrosity of calories. I see them eat burgers and desserts separately though.

its not that Europe has no apples, its that America has many more varieties of them, many more apple orchards, and a greater emphasis on them in the Fall. The whole Johnny Appleseed myth came from settlers spreading them across the whole country.

Hard to believe you had thanksgiving style turkey, applejack, or southern charred oysters as a Euro. Some of the base ingredients may be similar to what you have, but the prep is very unique to America, and frequently specific states have wildly different flavor.

Zero effort post, this is a gimmick gross food some individual made, not something you see America wide, or even across a US city. OP posted something that isn't eaten daily, but is common a common US fair food. If you wanted something abhorrent that was eaten across America, you could have easily posted the 1950's jello recipes, or some of the midwestern casseroles. Your research is poor and your hatred for America is shallow at best.

The drinks were more foreign to me than the food when I went to the US. "V8", sports drinks, flavored beer, and their idea of coffee... way more confusing than meat and cheese with sweet fried food.

Lolwut? Poland and Italy, put together, amount to less than a third of the US population and their combined production is 130% that of the US. I can name five different regions on the Atlantic coast that are famous for their cider off the top of my head. I literally work in an orchard where people come with their kids to pick apples and they can make their own juice with an old wooden press on certain days.

China produces 10x more apples than America does but literally nobody associates apples with China because they aren't an important cultural food staple for them, apples in the US are synonymous with american food culture and they're a big part of our history and folklore from when we were a developing nation, what commonly known tall tales and folk heroes does fucking Italy have relating to apples?
>>
>>21574121
Well we do have myths about a fruit that we've been eating for 7000 years, apples are a symbol of wisdom, there are legends surrounding certain areas and varieties, but it's trivial. The US is 18 times the land mass of France and yet only has three times the area dedicated to apple orchards. Sure, there are more cultivars in North America, but are there really many more varieties available to the public than the 50-100 varieties everyone knows ? Claiming apple pies are American is plain silly, it's like claiming blowjobs were invented in Hungary. I understand that apples are important in America, but they're absolutely not a uniquely American thing. There are apple festivals all over in the fall, every mother has a recipe for apple pie and apple sauce... You can claim whatever you want about pumpkins, those are American, but apples are first and foremost Eurasian.

>Sure, there are more cultivars in North America,
Nah even a quick look dispels that, even the UK developed more.

>The UK grows more varieties of apples than the US, with an estimated 2,500 varieties developed in the UK compared to the US's approximately 200 unique varieties.

Nobody knows of this except Americans, trying to get a sense of history, culture and belonging.

No shit Sherlock, it's an American cultural story. What are your cherished tales that make apples significant in your culture?
>>
>>21574354
I don't know if you know this but the rest of the world has a REAL culture and history, we don't sit around and make up mythological stories about how we invented apples.
>>
>>21574379
>>
>>21574354
Not that anon but apple trees have been present in European mythology forever, being a sacred tree for the Celts, a tree of the gods that Hercules is challenged to reach, also the fruit of the gods' feasts, a tree that was a shelter from heathens for Saint Magloire, it's also present in tales like King Arthur or Snow White, it was the fruit of healing in the middle ages because it was used to treat wounds, Isaac fucking Newton, several regions have the apple as a symbol... In parts of northern France you have to order "virgin" coffee if you don't want apple brandy in it. It's so much a part of our culture that we take it for granted, it's the first thing we think of when thinking of fruit.

My greatgreatgrandfather remigrated to Europe because he couldn't stand the constant seething of anglo protties. Apparently they started malding whenever him and his buddies had a few beers on the evenings, or Sunday after church. Let alone his sons having drunken unmarried sex with the local girls during village feasts, as was customary at the time. His diary describes a bleak society whose motto is "No fun allowed".
>>
>>21575044
>>21575060
You mean like puritans? They were no-fun-allowed assholes, everybody knows that. On the plus side, they were generally friendly towards the natives, in an "I'm sorry you're a heathen savage" kinda way. (Killing of natives rose as the puritans faded out and fun-loving drunken yahoos became more common. I guess killing Indians was fun)

The puritans were a big thing early on, but became a minority. We've had periodic reappearances of their kinda shit, but there's a strong cultural countercurrent against it, too.
