My experience was not good. Went to an Ethiopian place, got takeout, b' something rice and lamb dish. Heard loudly from the kitchen "THIS IS FOR THE WHITE GUY?".Get home and... vegetables are badly overcooked and mushy in a weird kind of reheated way, few small pieces of near jerky level dried out meat clinging large jagged pieces of bone. The flavor was okay, but dry and greasy. About $20. Disappointed. Posted a bad review and never returned there.

And this is the only dish that is noteworthy, the one all Ethiopian/Eritrian restaurants promote front and center. So once you've eaten this, you've eaten the marketable limits of this cuisine. So I don't think the cuisine is underrated at all. It is appropriately rated. Everyone knows the injera and most people would say it's good, but there's nothing else to say about it.

Syrian food is legit. They housed these Syrian refugees in this cruise ship next to my house, so I thought fuck it I'll just go there and eat for free since I'm paying for it. Ended up becoming friends with a couple of them and this one dude was a chef. So I got him a kitchen to work out of so he could make some money. God tier food, and he cooked it for me for free.
