Has anyone here tried kombucha? What does /ck/ think of it? I personally didn’t like it, tasted kind of funky to me
cram it
>>21565936>what does /ck/ think of it?/ck/ doesn’t like kombucha. /ck/ and kombucha kinda clash.
kombucha mouth on my dick because that drinks sucks as hard as you
>>21565936You probably don't like blue cheese either. You can either try again after you grow up, or resign yourself to subsisting on Grimace Shakes ordered from Ubereats.
>>21565987Nahh unc be trippin' cuz ts tastes like vinegar beer fr :skull: :skull:
>>21565936It's fucking delicious yummy af.I like the strong natural carbonation and sour edge mixed with more traditional tea flavors. It also has not very much sugar when made properly.
>>21565936Honey pancakes?
>>21566004That's a SCOBYBasically a big fat many-layered biofilm produced by yeast and bacteria. The yeast converts sugar in the tea substrate into ethanol, and then the bacteria converts the ethanol into acetic and lactic acid, and other tasty compounds.
>>21565936fucking delicious.
>>21565995This happened to me when I was a cashier at a hippie market in the 2000s in a semi-rough neighborhood that was made up of 60s hippies and college students as well as minorities and crackheads. A drunk unc bought a bottle of 'bucha thinking it was soda and he came back in the store screaming that we sold him rotten soda and demading a refund. My manager and I tried explaining that it was wasn't rotten soda, it was just a weird fermented drink and we couldn't give him a refund because he didn't like the taste. He wasn't having it and he kept screaming at us and threatening us until the manager who was a really nice black guy had enough and went ghetto thug and basically threatened to beat the unc to death on the spot over a vinegar soda unless he left immediately. The unc left mumbling and stuttering threats and I made a mental note never to cross that manager.
Its cheaper than cheese starters for a wheel......
>>21566017How do you get the mushroom juice out of the jar without wrecking the mushroom?
>>21566037The SCOBY is durable, you can just lift it out before extracting the juice.Biofilms this size usually have a strong intercellular matrix, same idea as nata de coco
>>21565987Blue cheese is good, but kombucha is bad.
>>21566042Why?
>>21566046Blue cheese tastes good as it is rich, salty, creamy and earthy. Kombucha tastes bad because it’s sour, vinegary, and fizzy, I find it off-putting.
>>21566050Fair enough palate wiseIm just a mold lover or yeast lover sans ammonia imparting onesBest cheese I've ever made was because of a slime mold which took 10 years off my life it literally tasted like sea water
What happens if you eat a big SCOBY? I'm talking like a half or full hockey puck sized SCOBY. >inb4 it would be very painful
>>21565984that was clever. have an updoot
>>21566042That's alright mate, I was just joshin' ya, you're alright. Kombucha can have that kind of "footy" smell which is an acquired taste for some. If you have only tasted homemade kombucha, you might want to try some commercial varieties, which tend to be milder on the fermented taste, while also incorporating other flavours. The Costco/Kirkland lemon-ginger kombucha is actually one of the better examples. But for people who appreciate (or learn to appreciate) "barnyard" flavour notes, look for Etienne Dupont unpasteurized dry cider (hard cider for Americans), that shiz is bussin homeslice.
Tried it the first time ever on empty stomach, raped mine for like 12 hours, no milk or water or even food can help alleviate it and instead make me shit water. Learnt my lesson, I drink these after food or in little sips. Those with black tea ones are kinda nice, smells funky but didnt bother me much. Gargle or dink some plain water after drinking, it can be bad for your teeth.
>>21565936I love them. They've replaced soft drinks in my life.
>>21565936Had a SCOBY for a while, it was nice. Kept it in the kitchen next to the fridge. Ended up getting rid of it, because I lack the skill and equipment to jazz up kombucha and make it more palatable.>>21566037Usually the container you have it in will have a spout on the bottom for you to extract, and you then add filtered water from the top, usually with dissolved sugar.
>>21565936ive heard of POOPucha, but not kombuchacould u tell me how kombucha is any different from POOPucha? does it not have POOP in it?
>>21565984Kek
>>21565936It tastes like my old football coach's ball sweat
