FUCK BOX GRATERS

>FUCK BOX GRATERS
That seems like it would hurt my dick, so I don't think I will.
>>
>>21571853
Back in college the girls' nickname fot me was box grater.
>>
Only thing I'd use it for is cheese and I can buy grated cheese for the same price as block cheese.
>>
>>21571853
What's wrong with them?
>>
>>21572386
Pre-grated cheese is vile stuff. Texture and taste are both inferior and it costs more.
>>
>>21572389
>and it costs more.
nope, same price per lb
>>
>>21571853
These things are total bitch to clean. The best graters are the ones on a stick that you can hold with your hand. Very easy to clean and safer to use.
>>
>>21572516
Maybe in America.

Here in NZ it's about 30% more expensive.
>>
>>21572387
hurts to shave my balls with them
>>
>>21572536
Get the rotary one that suction cups to a flat surface. Way faster and just toss into the washer to clean. Can process a pound if cheddar or mozzarella in a minute or two
>>
>>21571853
>>21572536
Yes, I realized that too late in life. I didn't notice the flat ones existed so it didn't occur to me to get one.
>>21572549
Whoa, I got a useful idea from 4chan today. Even the flat ones are kind of a pain. But box graters have no reason to exist.
>>
>>21572386
They coat pre-grated with starch and cellulose and other shit to prevent clumping which fucks up the texture and makes it harder to melt.
>>
>>21571853
Based. Why do people still use this garbage.

>>21572387
Harder to clean
Harder to use
Takes up more space to store
Shit for zesting/microplaining--you basically only ever use the grater side.
Usually overpriced
Almost never as sharp as alternatives.
>>
>>21572549
I got one of those rotary ones as a gift a few years ago and it's an absolute pain to clean. It works really well, but I can't just throw it in the dishwasher. Cheese gets compacted inside the drum and is difficult to get out. I barely use it anymore cause it's not worth the hassle.
>>
What’s a Fuck Box Grater?
>>
Man my ass is itchy can I borrow that for a moment?

It's a derivative of the finger box.
>>
>>21571853
These would be so good if one (1) side was removable
>>
>>21571853
I hurt my knuckle because my parmesan cheese piece was very smol ;_;
>>
I have at least three things to shred stuff
but I still wish I had a box grater
I want to use the slicer part
>>
>>21573174
A few of those are conquered by having opposable thumbs.
What do you use?
>>
>>21572536
What? They’re a piece of piss to clean. Run it under hot water and hit it with a brush then put it in the dish rack. It takes a few seconds.
>>
>>21573174
>Harder to clean
this is your only legit point
>Harder to use
objectively false by a thousand miles. its a million times easier to shred a block of cheese with a box grater because you can actually support it on the counter, where as hand held graters you have support partially in space with one of your hands
>Takes up more space to store
not really
>Shit for zesting/microplaining--you basically only ever use the grater side.
equating the finer side of a box grater to a microplane is actually stupid, its not what its meant for
>Usually overpriced
what
>Almost never as sharp as alternatives.
skill issue and not true
>>
>>21573254
Legit thought I was on /trash/ for a few seconds.
>>
>>21572516
It's not, it's half cheese and half wax. Block cheese is like 94% cheese.
>>
>>21571863
w-why?
