What's fucking good Steak sandwich /ck/?
I'm set on a fresh baguette as the base.
It's gonna be a 10 dollar steak, nothing super premium

Was thinking of mozzarella and chimichurri and some grilled onions and arugula, any better ideas?

since I see that humanity as a whole is struggling with "steak sandwich", I might try my take and report, phily is ok, but not fully it, yes I'll make it with my imagination as prime mover of its design

>>
>>21572786
OP said "steak sandwich", there's a difference between that and a cheesesteak. Steak sandwiches include cheesesteaks and other types of steak sandwiches.
>>
>>21572786
mayo and cheese go well together, however I'd understand or bet more for a roquefort+craft singles + pepper (the spice) kind of sauce
>>
>>21572788
Good thing I wasn't responding to OP.
>>
>>21572779
i should call her
>>

What?
>>
>>21572773
please guys I need someone to tell me right now what the best steak sandwich ever entails
>>
>>21572820
you said please, enough
t. just making it up through imagination
>thin and crispy baguette bread
>the bread is bathed and slightly toasted in butter
>the steak cut is in thick bite chunks, none of that slim cut ovea hea'
>the steak cuts are very charry on the outside, inside they have a nice smoot fade from pure raw on the core to slightly done as they approach the edge of the cut (all of this can be fine-tuned to taste by the client's request)
>the steak sits on top of a layer of deluxe-like fries, but gourmet version
>poached onions with butter and red wine sit on top of the steak
>on top of the steak a thic layer of cheese sauce made of craft singles, a slight touch of blue cheese and pepper (the spice) sauce, with bits of ungrated pepper corns
the fries have a bit of sauce in them, made of mayo and paprika

enjoy ;^)
>>
>>21572848
this sounds stupid good especially the pepper sauce. replace the craft shit with some slices of provolone
>>
>>21572877
>replace
sounds better yes, I'm going to check out the provolone option
>>
>>21572877
>>21572889
just checked it out, looks cash money, the idea was to have something melty and absorve and diminish the strength of blue cheese 8any blue cheese), provolone seems cash but it will have to be very fucking hot, what do they use in phily cheesteaks?
>>
>>21572807
kek
>>
>>21572893
might skip the fries tho cant be arsed making fresh fries just for one sandwich the meats not worth it
>>
>>21572930
this is kind of the king of sandwiches we're talking about here
>>
Slop on a handful of peanut butter to give it that exotic Asian flair.
>>
>>21572955
I am not going to do that I just want a tasty preferrably easy to make steak sandwich.

this is really good, but gib regular size fries in instead, also cheese
>>
>>21572773
don't use a fucking baguette. unless you want to cut the roof of your mouth on that shit. use a banh mi bun or a hoagie roll at least ffs. tough bread like a bagette will completely make it so you can appreciate the luciousness of the steak
>>
>>21573576
shit, what do you suggest I use? im from EU. only options are prepackaged or bakery. bakery wont have hoagies.
>>
>>21573576
no intend of offense, but those options you mentioned look kind of underwhelming specially when compared to a baguette, specially if it is thin, crispy, etc.
>>
I'll have one with caramelized onions and gorgonzola.
>>
>>21573587
banh mi bread is a variant of baguette but like many asian breads modified to be softer and chewier. banh mi bread (especially from a GOAT bakery) is head and sholders the best sandwich bread you can get. all the deep well developed character of a good baguette but without the the tough roof cutting that makes baguette ill advised for sandwiches. hey i love me a good baguette, but on it's own, with some butter and soup. not as a sandwich bread
>>
>>21573582
try ciabatta instead
>>
>>21573649
you got it. cheers.
>>
>>21573646
reasonable, not my cup of tea though, gimme a baguette any time, kek, but to be honest, I haven't tried the breads you speak of, but for the description you give, I knind of get it, more netural kind of bread which can be interesting
a crunchy baguette could have problems, in the sense of falling off due to crunchness at your third bite, nothing that the high amount of moisture from the inside can't fix though, I think
>>
>>21573649
>ciabatta
good shape for the ingredients

Is steak sandwich the only sandwich where arugula is amazing? That and some strong cheese are my favorite toppings
>>
ciabatta that is turned into cheesey (swiss/provolone or mozz) garlic bread
carmelized onions
whatever cut of steak thinly sliced. If needed sous vide to make that shitty cut tender
horseradish sauce or jus
arugula

ok bros, what cheese or combination of cheeses (melted) really goes peak performance with thick cuts of steak in a sandwich?
>>
>>21574120
This sounds rocksolid.
Altho I am missing some heat.

Don't you guys think there should be some heat on a steak sandwich? Some chilli or peppercorns at least.

>>21574131
I just feel you can't go wrong with mozz or provolone. Gruyère has also been suggested to me as a more "fancy" alternative.
>>
>>21572773
You already nailed it on the OP.
>>
>>21572893
honestly philly is best with a mixture of provolone and white american cheese
>>
Whenever I try to eat a steak sandwich I always end up having to pull out gristle and fat, or whole slices of steak getting pulled out of the sandwich because im not cleanly biting through it. How can I stop this from happening? Slice the steak extremely thin before cooking?
>>
>>21574131
gorgonzola paired with some other cheese
