Why do these things cost so much god damn money?
Why do you buy them? They suck.
not difficult to grow, bro
>>21575246Where the fuck do you live? They are $3.49/lb here. I bought four of these bastards and it came out to $6.07
>>21575228Cuz they take longer. They're just green peppers that have fully ripened. Jalapeños are red, too. More time on the vine = less time to make the next crop = less profits = you get charged for itI don't have a big taste for spicy things, but peppers are fun to grow.i highly recommend it
>>21575298I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all the peppersfrom just three plantsjalapeno, siracha and bell pepper
>>21575298im picking nowwe had a super wet spring and super hot summer in new englandit has taken them until now to grow and color uppeppers want dry heat and we had a lot of heat but it all came in burstsi urge all new england /ck/ers to leavce your peppers for a few more weeks
>>21575338Last time I tried to grow peppers to red bugs ate most of it
>>21575246they go for a 1.48 each around my parts
>>2157524678 cents for a single bell pepper is kind of expensive in my ideal reality tho. you need like 3 bell peppers minimum for a recipe that uses a holy trinity.
>>21575343yeah it happens and there's nothing you can do if you dont want to chemicalize your cropsthe closest it gets is one of those scent bagsand even then i dont want that in the soil when it rains lol i dont know but i can't be goodi mean maybe pick them earlier
>>21575369scatter diatomaceous earth around the base of the tree will stop most non flying bugs. in my area the biggest pest is just ants.
It's a conundrum.
>>21575376good advice thank youthat is good advice generallywe have these japanese beetles and these other fucking things that look like big ladybugs, but yellow. forget the namei guarantee they dont call them "japanese and oriental beetle traps" anymore, but these things stink the whole place upthey work like crazy but i was just smoking weed and im wondering if maybe they bait them in from a huge radius, and that's why the the trap is always full haha
>>21575338Im just north of boston! I missed this year with peppers!Heat wave almost all summer! Feels sp cool now
>>21575654Southern Maine here, only a handful of peppers and my broccoli didn't stand a chance.
>>21575246here it's 60 cents per pepper if you're lucky (kill me)
>>21575654yeah it was a very abrupt shiftthe sun is still pretty hot though. we are still going to be the 80'si would say just give them a little more time
?They're $1.49-1.99/lb when on sale. Just don't buy them from stores that sell them by unit rather than by weight. I don't know why, but by unit peppers are always both more expensive and of lesser quality than ones you can buy by weight
no many people buy peppers, so a lot of them will rot in the store. This spoilage cost is rolled into the overhead price of every one that gets sold as a form of cost absorption
>>21575271I live in the sticks and local farms sell them for 50 cents a pop, regardless of size. And they're better quality than anything you get from a grocer or a "farmer's market." I've got some growing in the yard right now, and they're excellent quality. I might post a pic in a minute to flaunt how easy it is and rub it in your face. I think I picked most of them on Sunday though...

>>21575368that package of 3 peppers is $9.99 in hawaii
>>21575228They don't? Maybe your country just sucks and no I'm from west yurop
>>21578350Why the fuck would I care what anything costs in hawaii? Everything is ridiculously expensive there because it's a fucking tiny island that can barely participate in global commerce.
>>21575319Dice up the ones you don't want and throw them in the freezer They good up pretty back to normal when you take them out.
>>21575667Ha, my peppers in the mid.coast are going good. I also own some land south of Augusta and the garden there's is watered by rain. So it's not doing the best. Also the damned deer over there..
>>21575368they cost exactly the same here(for now) in all supermarket chains stop complaining
>>21575228Wtf are those prices?
>>21578797quit complaining firstie

>>21575228ye the prices have been fucked latelyi've seen them as high as $5/lb canadian and i live in a medium size citywhen they go on sale it's usually $2/lb but right now the store near me has them for $1.29/lb and i'm gonna grab a bunch in a few minutes actually
