Whats your favourite British food? I'll start with the humble Cornish Pasty. British food is surely the most underrated cuisine on earth. I say this because of its global reputation as being disgusting which means its nowhere near rated to the level it should be.
>>
>>21575953
the full english of course
there are obviously plenty of british people who know how to cook and good british cuisine, though it’s even more obvious they have their fair fucking share of abominable slop, equipped with the worst names possible
>>
Bangers and mash without the gravy or peas.
>>
>>21575972
you sound just like a fat old british guy cheers barry
>>
>>21575953
The one thing I'll give the British cuisine is that they do good meat pies, crusts, etc. You know what, I'll give them baking in general. Bread pudding is unbelievable, don't understand why other cultures don't care to make that kind of thing.
>>21575967
The only thing impressive about the full English is how much shit they press onto one plate, you fat fuck.
The individual foods aren't all that impressive or notable, but then you cram like 2000 calories of it all on one plate at 8am and Norf FC fat retards think they're in heaven. Other countries have examples of all the same food, we just don't eat it all in one sitting while the sun is coming up like a bunch of fucking ogres.
>>
>>21575953
I like Shepherd's Pie.
If this was Italian and had a fancy name like Torta di Spezzatino a la Patate people would be praising it more often.
>>
>>21576053
Genuinely think that is applicable to a lot of British food. I think pies in general are just my favourite, be it steak, chicken and mushroom, ham and leek, fish pie, whatever, there is just something heavenly about the mix of a full dinner retinue of produce, constrained in a thick saucey pastry prison.
>>
>>21575989
no need to get cross with me anon. I’d say it’s on average about half that calorically. Including baked goods such as toast and baked beans, which you apparently love. Just what the doctor ordered when you’re hungover
>>
>>21575953
lancashire hotpot.
totally has nothing to do with me liking lancashire
>>
>>21575953
Sausage rolls with a cup of curry.
>>
>>21576069
You're right, I shouldn't have been so cunty.
I just came across a YouTube video of some fat retard eating a full English recently so I was prepped to be pissed about it, but you didn't do shit to me, so I apologize. It does look good, the portions just seem out of control.
>>
>>21576089
when you say curry do you mean the chip shop style curry?
ive never seen sausage rolls with curry together in all honesty
>>
>>21576090
It's like anything, you eat at a bad builder's diner or wherever and you get cheap Wall's/Richmond's sausages, cheap plain beans, basic eggs etc. in massive quantities because they think lots of food=good. You go to a nice place or make it yourself, and the proportional distribution is normal, quality ingredients are used along with herbs and spices. Like I said, it's just like anything. Also I personally have them very rarely and when I do they are usually a brunch thing that keeps you filled for basically the rest of the day.

>>21576145
Oh and I was nta >>21576069 just wanted to lend another voice.
>>
Grouse with blackberries and Port sauce
>>
>>21576216
sounds gross
probably tastes amazing
>>
>>21575953
Fish and chips, I crave it a lot
>>
>>21575953

Used to get pasties here but they sold off the joint and it became a gay juice place.
>>
>>21576387
what is a gay jews place?
>>
>>21575953
>I say this because of its global reputation as being disgusting
OP posts this phrase in pretty much every bong food thread, it's more of a meme started and perpetuated by Americans, we all know the story behind it.

I can’t really find any British cuisine anywhere in my area.

I really want to try a butter pie, beef wellington, steak & kidney pie, yorkshire pudding, black pudding, lancanshire hotpot etc.

Are they any good
>>
>>21575967
Names such as?
>>
>>21575953
For me it's boiled boar with mint sauce and warm beer with no head.
>>
>>21576650
They're good if the ingredients are good

not entirely english but i associate with my gran who used to cook it for me.
pan bread and beef and ale stew is the best winter meal.
>>
>>21576650
get involved with haggis too. a good one can be excellent.
>>
>>21576650
yorkshire pudding is like a puffy pancake.
black pudding is a very crumbly, very peppery sausage slice.
>>
>>21576145
The issue at play for me when I've tried making it is that, because of the wide swathe of ingredients, it's impossible to even justify making unless you're going to make a lot.
Just for example, if I open a tin of baked beans it bothers me to just get a couple scoops and then put the rest in the fridge.
That's just one reason why the full english is always a huge gluttonous mess.

I've never gotten the chance to eat authentic british food, but the meat pies look bombastic, similar to our empanadas salteñas or empanadas in general. Their pies look like huge ass empanadas and honestly, like >>21575989 said, their baking game is very very good. The full english breakfast seems like it'd be an atomic bomb for digestion, but good if you need to work all day.
I love fish too so eating fish and chips, kippers, mackarel-dishes would be incredible.
>>21576650
What's wrong with liver and onion? Liver is tasty as fuck, I'll never get all the liver and onion haters!
>>
>>21575953
Have to agree with (You) on cornish pasties, love those little fuckers. Shepherd's pie is always a good meal, just like a nice Sunday roast. I still remember a lamb roast I had on a Sunday lunch in a pub in Newcastle. Scrumptious.
>>
>>21576655
chip butty

battered sausage

>>21576650
this list is so retarded dunno what idiot is putting toad in the hole (DELICIOUS), pie n mash (DELICISOU), welsh rarebit (DELICIOUS) and FAGGOTS (DELICISOU) in this low tiers. these are all top tier dishes. way better than anything you'd get in some bent country like france.
>>
>>21576871
faggots are fucking disgusting.
you may as well eat a luke warm ball of fat seasoned with powdered arse sweat.
>>
Stuffed yorkies
>>
>>21575953
i can only think of one because ive never had british food. long john silvers is british food to me. their triangular shaped fish and hush puppies and fries were really good growing up in america. i'd ring the bell next to the door as i left and say 'Compliments to the chef!'.
>>
>>21576731
Heh I can sympathise with that.

Bubble & Squeak, Jellied Eels
>>
>>21578863
>Jellied Eels
Sorry to burst your bubble but Brits don't eat them, they were only a thing in the East End of London and they still are but to a far lesser extent; A handful of places still serve them to die-hards and curious tourists.
>>
>>21577109
>faggots are fucking disgusting.
>you may as well eat a luke warm ball of fat seasoned with powdered arse sweat.
You have NEVER eaten one, why didn't you just say that?
>>
>>21579014
Belgium here, we eat them all the time, as do the northern French and southern Dutch. No idea what's typically British about it, or why it's being mocked apart from it looking a bit daft.
>>
>>21579046
>Belgium here, we eat them all the time, as do the northern French and southern Dutch.
Jellied Eels or just Eels?
Genuinely curious.
>>
>>21579046
>>21579063
Never mind, I just checked and it seems you do!

Brits NEVER claimed it's typically British, as I stated here >>21579014 it's only an East London thing.

I think it's mainly Americans who just think that weird food is eaten everywhere in Britain, like the Stargazy Pie, which is just a traditional thing in a few coastal Cornish villages.
>>
British food definitely gets a bad rap, speaking as a Brit. But that's because people aren't comparing apples to apples so to speak - of course you don't have many delicious vegetable or fruit dishes, most of them don't grow well in the UK. But the quality of most animal products is brilliant here - we have great beef and especially lamb, as well as game. Dairy products of all kinds are excellent too. And can't forget local fish which is underappreciated by the local populace.

So some of the best food you'll find is simple stuff like roast meats, stews and pies. Hearty meals you'd expect at an inn, not haute cuisine, and that's fine. But go to a country pub in Wales and you'll get some of the best lamb dishes ever, and a pint to match. Go to a seafood restaurant in Cornwall and have some dressed crab by the shore, what more do you need?

The issue is it's a hard food to export because it's not sexy and it's not really interesting. But anyone who has traveled around the UK should be able to tell you that good food can be found everywhere and it's not all fish and chips

My British friend eats a can of beanie-weenies and white bread. Loves it

Cornish pasties exist pretty much everywhere with different names and everyone loves them. Same with créme bruleé which is just sugared custard.

Since this is the only thread about bong cuisine, I got a question to ask
I follow this recipe (https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/toadinthehole_3354) for toad in the hole, and it says in regards to the batter mix
>Strain and push any remaining lumps through a sieve. Stir in the thyme. Cover and leave to stand for 30 minutes, or ideally 3-4 hours.
Any issues if I leave the batter (flour-egg-milk) mix in the fridge overnight? I'm a bakelet and never deviated from the recipe so I wouldn't know what would happen.

it's crazy that "Sunday Roast" is considered a British thing. i fuckin love me some roast beef.
the same niggas who talk like they hate British food cuz they saw a tiktok will go home and eat roast beef
>>
>>21575953
Steak and ale pie (especially suet crust) with some extra veg on the side is simply the nicest meal in the world.

Sunday roast is pretty close
>>
>>21576053
Call it "Hachis Parmentier", that should do the trick (though there's no peas in the French version)
