This was my last meal in Connecticut: half meatball and peppers, half bacon and onion from Sally’s in New Haven.

Now, I leave for NYC. Wish me luck!

you're gonna love ny pizza, you don't have to get a whole pie, just a slice whenever you want

NYC pizza was some of the worst shit I've ever had. God damn cardboard covered in ketchup.

NYC is a major disappointment in general. World's better than Atlanta though which has the distinction of being just a massive ghetto.

Sounds like you went to shit places. NYC is no different than anywhere else in that you have a mix of good and bad restaurants.

I live close to John's (Bleecker St location) and it's still some of the best pizza I've ever had.

>see videos of nyc pizzerias
>they have NO SLICE signs at the register
>tired of internet dudes asking for a slice so they can review the undercarriage
not my problem!

If people can't read, that's not my problem.

I do feel like the distinction between slice joints and sit-down places gets lost when people review pizza, though. You can't really compare them--different ingredients, cooking methods, etc. I get slices far more than whole pies but sometimes I just gotta have John's, Arturo's, Denino's, etc.

Just wish it weren’t so expensive, it’s like $30+ for a pie with toppings

My favorite CT pizza was actually Colony Grill but I lived in the middle of the state and they were along the coast. Gotta get the stingers and hot oil, maybe some meat.

insanely good
colony grill fucking rules. it's the main thing i miss from working in that area. i remember working on some way to mimic it using big flour tortilla in cast iron and then under broiler briefly but this is obviously a shit recreation
colony grill would be my first stop if i end up back in the area

Good luck!

they're a standard pizza place, further up off the merritt vs. below 95 like colony
