>eat pasta al dente
I thought you were supposed to cook them al dente to toss in the sauce 1-2 minutes afterwards without overcooking, not to just eat them like that
>>
I'm from Italy.
We break spaghetti all the time.
We eat pizza with a knife and fork.
Pasta, aglio, olio e tonno is eaten with parmigiano. Tonno=tuna.
We have two different varieties of pineapple pizza. America has just the one.
We don't eat any meat with pasta unless it's bolognese or something similar. There are chicken based dishes that are eaten with pasta and the chicken is eaten as second course.
Barbecue chicken pizza was extremely trendy in Italy a few years ago.

This was all dreamt up by some fatmerican fatty who can't correctly pronounce her own surname and has never been to Italy or even spoken to an actual Italian.

6 is how you should do pasta if you're actually gona eat it or give to someone to eat
>>
>>21580564
If you're doing it to prevent sticking then all you have to do is add some sauce. Rinsing it will stop any sauce from sticking to it as well. Drain it, and as soon as it's done draining mix it with sauce. It won't stick unless you let it sit for too long after draining with nothing on it.

Supposed to be okay to rinse it if you're making pasta salad since the thinner dressing might not prevent sticking as well. But I want to try making it without rinsing next time to see if it's better or worse.

1. okay I guess
2. you can break them. brodino con la pastina is peak comfy cottagecore shit
3. you can do it, but you'll wash down flavours
4. you can eat pizza however you want
5. some fishes pair well with cheese: swordfish and caciocavallo is great
6. you must rinse pasta with cold water if you want to prepare the typical lunchbox cold pasta for when you go to the beach (pesto+sliced tomatos+mozzarelline=goat)
7. I've tried some recipes with ketchup and weren't half-bad. some nonna even use it as "secret ingredient" in the passata
8. pineapple on pizza is okay, just hawaiian is boring
9. I like well cooked pasta, it's even more digestible
10. I don't understand why this isn't a thing, there's literally no reason to forbid it. it's a stupid rule
11. sangria is fantastic and it has red wine and ice
12. fuck you, I drink what I want whenever I want

these kind of rules are the death of creativity and innovation, we are free to do whatever we want and make us happier
>>
>>21580585
It's not for sticking it's too cool the past down so it's edible and stopping the cooking process right then and there when I choose the best al dente texture and to rinse some of the salt away(which you have to do because you have to boil pasta in really salty water so that the salt gets into the pasta)
>>
>>21580317

You are also not very smart. Jews can have dairy with fish. Lox and schmear?
Italki Jews, IE the native Jews of Italy, can have dairy with poultry, too. They're the only mainstream Jewish group (I think either the Samaritans and/or the Karaites as well, but neither is mainstream) who consider poultry exempt from the prohibition on the combination meat+dairy.

If you break them because you want smaller noodles, that's okay. Go for it, it's your pasta, my man.
If you're only breaking them because they "won't fit in the pot," I'm afraid you have the dumb, anon.

Consider that pasta needs about 8 minutes to cook to al-dente, maybe more depending thickness, we'll say 8. It takes about 20 seconds for the pasta to soften enough for the end that's out of the water to slide down into the pot, let's say 30 seconds to be generous.
30 seconds out of 480 is 6%. A 6% difference in cooking time, and that's being generous.

There's no way you're gonna be able to tell the difference between one end of a noodle that's 103% done and the other end that's 97% done. Just let the noodles soften till they go in the pot, silly person.
>>
>>21580822
Nobody does. Everybody breaks their pasta. The reason why you don't add cream to Carbonara is you don't want to dilute the cheese. The reason you don't add proper Parmesan cheese to fish is because it's overpowering. You can't buy proper Parmesan cheese outside Italy, something which neither Italians nor foreigners are aware of. We get the leftovers and they're rubbish.

Just hide /pol/ threads in the future.

Italian here:

1. breaking spaghetti is completely fine as long as they are still long enough to be eaten with a fork

2. I don't care about carbonara, shit dish

3. I've seen pizza eaten with fork and knife, kinda depends on what kind of dough they use

4. pineapple and ham work on pizza

5. chicken and pasta is kinda weird, dark chicken can work, when people use chicken breast, it's really the sauce doing the work, the meat is just kinda there

6. the cappuccino thing is because either caffeine or lactose intolerance, but it doesn't apply to everyone

Rule 4 can be broken if eating a Neapolitan but I generally agree. never heard of 10 but also never had the combination. I did make a chicken liver pasta recently and it was really fucking good + it's a classic Italian dish.12 who drinks coffee after 12??? the only people I know who have coffee in late evening are very old people. 8 strong disagree after putting a lot of years and thought in to this issue I have found that anchovies and pineapple actually pair really well since you sort of need the freshness and sweetness to balance out the saltyness of the anchovies. 7 is something only lower class people and Americans do I presume. 1 and 2 and 6 are very solid. 5 is a strange rule never heard of it before. 11 no opinion but I like to put water with my wine, makes it more refreshing and yes is actually a thing cultured Europeans do. 3 not a strong opinion since I rarely make a carbonara but I also never use cream when I do so I suppose it is a good one.
>>21580339
mmm It's sort of a personal preference honestly if the package says al dente 8 minutes I might stop cooking at 7:15 and then toss it back in to the sauce and cook it somewhere between al dente and cottura. You're most definitely not expected to always cook it to cottura.

I guess I am confused what italians typically do with their spaghetti then if there is no meat, what do they do with their penne or fusilli or rigatoni
>>
>>21580504
With all due respect, I'm not gonna let an Italian tell me what not to do
>>
>>21583931
Depends on what you're doing with the pasta. Draining and rinsing will remove the starch, which can be useful to thicken the sauce. If your sauces come out watery, try using the pasta water instead of dumping it, or at least don't also rinse the pasta.
>>21584030

Again, the meat is eaten as a second course. It is not served with the pasta ergo it can't be eaten with the pasta.
As you can't extract the meat from bolognese and similar sauces, that one is one of the few where the meat and pasta are served and eaten together

>I ought to drain my pasta, better put some more water on it

To be fair, rinsing is fine in certain Asian noodle dishes though those, strictly speaking, aren't pasta. I rinse the noodles for soba salad, for example.

The sauce.
