I work construction with a 44 y.o. single Quebecois dude who definitely boozes night before/morning of, smokes tons, and rents a shitty room that he's behind rent on; yet has the energy, chattiness, and optimism of an extroverted 20 year old...and does so fueled with a microwaved Hungry Man at lunch daily.

I unfortunately kinda grew up on these. I stopped buying them regularly a few years back, now I'll buy maybe 2 the whole year. This one was one of my favorites, I'd put the meat between slices of white bread and mix the corn into the potatoes. It was pretty okay.

This one is the best one IMO. Has to be cooked in the oven though, comes out pretty tasty. When they had a larger line of products it was part of their "sports grill" line which also had a burger, quesadilla, popcorn fish, etc. Back in the day you got 5 pieces of chicken now it's 4 and the potatoes are worse.

>>
>>21581630
Why has everyone and their mother been saying that phrase lately? What ticktock video made it popular?
>>
>>21581630
Good guess, I was a latchkey kid. I walked home from school and would be home for hours before anybody else was. Time usually spent microwaving bullshit and using the family computer without the fear of anybody coming into the computer room.
>>21581638
I don't know if they make the bbq one anymore, I haven't seen it in years. The chicken one is the only one I still buy and it's maybe once every 6 months or so. I always walk by the HM at the grocery store to see what kinda shit they're putting out and none of it is interesting, they used to put out new shit all the time. I feel that way about the frozen food aisle a lot though, I don't ever see anything that new or interesting.
>>
>>21581645
It was a word used to describe most kids during the 60s-90s who were barely parented. It's been around for decades as a concept and piece of vocabulary.

Wat??? Do latchkey kids not exist in newer generations? I guess I was one too, lots of time home alone and or I would be out roaming the streets for hours with friends until whenever I felt hungry or it got too late/dark.
>>
>>21581105
I think these are why I'm so fat. It probably wasn't good for me to be eating these every night from 8-13 and not be into any sports or exercise. It literally says on the box that it's meant for big hungry men that go out and work, not little boys that play video games all day. I don't know why my mom insisted on buying them instead of shit like Kid's Cuisine.
>>
>>21581663

I know that retards. But people haven't said it THIS often since the 90's. I've been hearing someone in person or online say it like EVERY day this last month. Probably because you zoomers saw it used in a tick tock, then you googled it, now you use it to pretend you're a millennial because everyone hates zoomers.

That is much more uncommon these days. I recently moved out of the south, where it was almost unheard of unless you lived in very specific areas. The area I live in now kids take public transit by themselves, they're out riding bikes, dozens of kids at the skatepark by my house, at the park, etc. I'm sure there are lots of latchkey kids still but the term isn't as common anymore and more parents are picking up their kids from school instead of walking/bus. It's become a real problem because retarded parents are lining up outside schools 1 hour+ early and it's causing issues across the country leading to needing an app to virtually get in line, maximum time you can arrive early etc. Times have changed

assuming you already have the seasonings, (milk and flour for the gravy) you could make 12 of these meals for less than $30. You could also use thighs instead of breasts if you like dark meat more. a case of 8 of these only costs almost $80. Anyone buying this shit is an absolute retard. I'd also suggest skipping on the breasts and buying a whole ass chicken for frying, you cut it up yourself and save a few cents per pound.

Those waitrose meals look infinitely better than the frozen slop that we have in the US. I've never eaten them but I can just look at it and tell that it tastes a million times better than hungryman. I can see actual raw meat there and it isn't some mechanically separated slop. The faggots are probably better, too.
>>
>>21583156
Huh? We have exactly the same shit, for some reason it just gets zero advertisement as far as I can tell.
In my country atleast you can always find these boxes where you also find canned soups and sloppa.
Casserole with red cabbage and dumplings, bangers and mash, that sort of stuff in a cardboard box ready for the microwave and unreasonably expensive for the slop it is.
>>

They aren't ready meals, in the classic sense: they cost £6+ without an accompanying carb and probably need 25+ minutes in the oven, instead of 5 minutes in the microwave. They are very tasty. Anything from Waitrose is. They're top quality and you do pay for it. I've spent £60 at Waitrose on a couple of meals and a few nice bits. You could spend that at Aldi and get 4 or 5 meals.

Loved them as a child. It's soft food with powerful flavor from the sodium, MSG, and sugar. As an adult, I find most of them to be mushy and lackluster. With an Instant Pot, it's easy enough to whip up some higher quality bachelor slop in not a lot more hands on time.
The tie in stuff is funny because the food doesn't look much better but costs about twice as much as the standard brand meals.

I'd wager 103. Body full of preservatives and no stress. Stress is the real aging factor and secret killer. And by stress, I mean bad stress - the shit that makes you panic and whatnot. Not the athletics exercise stress on the muscles/body. That's the good kind.
>>
>>21581105
Potatoes in these were always shite. You could add butter to them to make them better, but still absolute garbage compared to flake.

Brownies were always mug brownie quality - which is not bad, but not good either. You'd be better off with a box mix.

Corn and veg were always bone dry. Needed some butter ahead of nuking to rectify that. Were below canned quality usually.

The meats varied. It was always edible, but always had that weird texture that comes from being a processed patty. Sauce was always meh tier, but at least it wasn't dry.

It was better than nothing or burnt food.
>>
>>21583166
That looks like the oven-ready stuff groceries carry now in the refrigerated section (to cater to singles). Those tend to be WAY higher quality than frozen TV dinners. At least for now. They also cost 2x as much. These are identical to the gold plates Wegmans has over in the US. You slap em in the oven, and dinner is done. Walmart recently rollled out something similar - while cheaper they are still WAY better than TV dinners. Especially the mash. It's real potatoes and usually butter and some seasoning. TV dinners don't do that - they use some terrible potato and have NOTHING in them.
