My refrigerator broke today after 10 years, what's /ck/'s recommendation to go with these days?
A new fridge I suppose. You're welcome!
>>21581908We did it Reddit!
>>21581900Something mainstream obviously so you can get easy support for it.
>>21581908Wow, why didn't I think of that?>>21581916Heard a lot are hot garbage though. Maybe a Hisense or Bosch?
>>21581900dig a cellar, line it with stone, fill it with ice from a clean pond in winter and enjoy yo herb ice stores through the rest of the year.
>>21581921Better approach is to decide price point and check what is the best option for you in that range. Then you can adjust up or down if you find some really nice feature that makes it worth paying more or if you just want something simpler.
>>21581900Nothing Samsung, no exceptionsPreferably whirlpoolEverything else is inbetweenDo searches on the model you're interested in to see if their compressors are badAn in-door external ice maker will typically cause more problems than an ice maker that's in the freezer compartmentI bought a new fridge directly from LG two weeks ago and they lied about the delivery date so it's not coming for another month, so fuck them. Get it from a hardware store or preferably costco
>>21581921>>21581950Lmao. You mean nothing American.
>>21581921I have a bosch fridge. It is excellent.
Thanks all, I'll keep this in mind.
>>21581900Are you thinking of single door or double door? I’ve seen single door models (about 18cf and without ice maker) that look decent around $500 recently. I think Costco might have a Midea in store around that price>>21581950Good luck with the LG, I bought 2 from Sam’s Club and 1 of them had the freezer fan crap out, LG’s warranty department (which seemed like it was in the Philippines) wouldn’t honor the extended 2 year warranty even after Sam’s Club got involved so I ended up returning it a month later. Admittedly the other one works fine though and I love it.
Something made in Mexico or China with lots of expensive, non-replaceable parts that maliciously connects to wifi without you asking it to and downloads firmware to brick itself after the warranty period. So any fridge made in the last decade.
>>21582116I don't mind much about the doors, just need something reliable. My LG has a linear compressor which was apparently not great, but it lasted me 10 years so I can't complain.I'm maybe thinking of a Hisense:https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hisense-26-6-cu-ft-French-Door-Refrigerator-with-Ice-Maker-and-water-dispenser-Fingerprint-Resistant-Stainless-Steel-ENERGY-STAR/5013345079Reviews are a bit concerning too.Seems an ice/water dispenser is unavoidable at this point.
>>21582146If you have the budget just get a bosch.
>>21582139Yeah seriously avoid anything with wifi. You'd be paying hundreds of dollars to have spyware in your home. Also avoid memes like water dispensers because they're typically so slow that getting a water filter is more effective
>>21581900KitchenAid fucking blows, avoid it like the plaguet. richfag that spent the money on a nice kitchenaid fridge only to move it in my garage because it was so fucking miserable and put a whirlpool in my kitchen instead which i like very much
>>21581900Get a walk in.
>>21582765>real food>real maple syrup>plenty of booze>Sal’s pizza>market basket seltzer and frozen fruit>friendly’s ice creamAre you gonna see the air show later?
Do your redditor research online and then walk in to your local appliance store that services appliances and buy what they recommend and can get parts for. Many will match big box store prices or have a better overall deal for delivery, installation, and disposing of your old refrigerator. Also make good measurements of your space and have that discussion with them too.
>>21582195Kitchenaid is made by whirlpool.
>>21581950>Preferably whirlpoolWhirlpool is good, have had nothing but trouble with Korean brands. Also avoid fancy electronics that will break and be impossible to fix.
>>21582790you can tell he's from Portsmouth just by that?
Anything without shitty smart features. I use a Beko
