My refrigerator broke today after 10 years, what's /ck/'s recommendation to go with these days?
>>
A new fridge I suppose. You're welcome!

We did it Reddit!

Something mainstream obviously so you can get easy support for it.
>>
>>21581908
Wow, why didn't I think of that?

>>21581916
Heard a lot are hot garbage though. Maybe a Hisense or Bosch?

dig a cellar, line it with stone, fill it with ice from a clean pond in winter and enjoy yo herb ice stores through the rest of the year.

Better approach is to decide price point and check what is the best option for you in that range. Then you can adjust up or down if you find some really nice feature that makes it worth paying more or if you just want something simpler.

Nothing Samsung, no exceptions
Preferably whirlpool
Everything else is inbetween
Do searches on the model you're interested in to see if their compressors are bad
An in-door external ice maker will typically cause more problems than an ice maker that's in the freezer compartment

I bought a new fridge directly from LG two weeks ago and they lied about the delivery date so it's not coming for another month, so fuck them. Get it from a hardware store or preferably costco

Lmao.
You mean nothing American.

I have a bosch fridge. It is excellent.
>>
Thanks all, I'll keep this in mind.

Are you thinking of single door or double door? I’ve seen single door models (about 18cf and without ice maker) that look decent around $500 recently. I think Costco might have a Midea in store around that price

Good luck with the LG, I bought 2 from Sam’s Club and 1 of them had the freezer fan crap out, LG’s warranty department (which seemed like it was in the Philippines) wouldn’t honor the extended 2 year warranty even after Sam’s Club got involved so I ended up returning it a month later. Admittedly the other one works fine though and I love it.
>>
Something made in Mexico or China with lots of expensive, non-replaceable parts that maliciously connects to wifi without you asking it to and downloads firmware to brick itself after the warranty period. So any fridge made in the last decade.

I don't mind much about the doors, just need something reliable. My LG has a linear compressor which was apparently not great, but it lasted me 10 years so I can't complain.

I'm maybe thinking of a Hisense:

Reviews are a bit concerning too.

Seems an ice/water dispenser is unavoidable at this point.

If you have the budget just get a bosch.
>>
>>21582139
Yeah seriously avoid anything with wifi. You'd be paying hundreds of dollars to have spyware in your home. Also avoid memes like water dispensers because they're typically so slow that getting a water filter is more effective

KitchenAid fucking blows, avoid it like the plague
t. richfag that spent the money on a nice kitchenaid fridge only to move it in my garage because it was so fucking miserable and put a whirlpool in my kitchen instead which i like very much

>real food
>real maple syrup
>plenty of booze
>Sal’s pizza
>market basket seltzer and frozen fruit
>friendly’s ice cream
Are you gonna see the air show later?

Do your redditor research online and then walk in to your local appliance store that services appliances and buy what they recommend and can get parts for. Many will match big box store prices or have a better overall deal for delivery, installation, and disposing of your old refrigerator. Also make good measurements of your space and have that discussion with them too.

Kitchenaid is made by whirlpool.
>>
>>21581950
>Preferably whirlpool

Whirlpool is good, have had nothing but trouble with Korean brands. Also avoid fancy electronics that will break and be impossible to fix.

>>21582790
you can tell he's from Portsmouth just by that?
>>
Anything without shitty smart features.
I use a Beko
