This is your formal reminder that you need to make your yearly batch of eggnog NOW if you want it to have a enough time to properly age before the holidays.
>>
i still don't think aging eggnog is real.
>>
Love this stuff so much but it makes me shit profusely. Not even lactose intolerant so idk why. The Turkey Hill brand is good

Real eggnog is a scam. But store-bought.

This. Nothing is happening besides evapaoration.

I buy the rum eggnog flavored milk at the store.

Also while we’re throwing around public service announcements …. at my local supermarket the egg nog is first displayed but then also removed from the shelves for the season surprisingly early.. if you expect to go grab a carton the week before Christmas you might be shocked to find you’re too late .. happened to me a couple years ago

I tried making aged eggnog once (last year or the year before) and it went off
>>
I did that a few years ago and I highly recommend alton brown's recipe. My family aren't big drinkers and only the alcoholics really liked it, it's very strong to stop it from spoiling

I remember I had a music jam and I made eggnog with fireball and then we made pancakes with the leftovers in the morning. I think I miss having friends
>>
I've still got some from last year
>>
>>21584358
well, where's the fucking recipe you nonce? George Washingtons recipe preferred.

Why even bother?

I just buy Evan Williams nog

Dairy and esp heavy cream will do that. It aint just lactose intolerance - it's more like level of intolerance. Made the senpai some alfredo pasta once and the young one's got the farts. Really just depends on your current diet, and perhaps genetics, though I'm sure you can train out of it.

Maybe booze has something to do with it but I haven't heard of that before.

Try diluting more with milk maybe, and reduce consumption. Ease your body in.

sorry about your senpai

Add nutmeg and allspice to your store bought eggnog

It’s called HoHo milk
>>
i hate egg nog but i still make 10L to give to the family
>>
>>21584605
I hate recipes like that one
calls for a pint each of cream, whole milk, and half & half
why not just 3 cups each of milk and cream
I still might try it
>>
>>21584372
probably the amount of fat from the cream
>>
>>21585847
Hmm yeah that doesn't make much sense

On his show, he does not use half and half. Actually, the recipe is different from his website one. I also thought he mentioned something about aging the eggnog but I didn't see it on the youtube vid, but maybe in the full episode he does talk about it, idk; youtube and google suck now.

As for why use half and half, it calls for a pint of each, and often you can find dairy liquids sold in pints. If he wants 3 cups of heavy cream (and 3 cups of milk), it's hard to get only 3 cups without buying a larger amount. Half and half is also cheaper than heavy cream, so it makes sense that his recipe called for all three dairy products, and he reckoned that if someone already has those quarts of heavy cream, then they'll be smart enough to notice and not buy the half and half.

Yes based jas. I

I kneel

This recipe's good, I usually do half bourbon and half rum.
The egg whites also separate after a few days and dry out, and after that you have to blend everything together or you're left with clumps, so either do it on the day you'll need it or keep that in mind.
>Alton Brown recipe
There's always someone recommending that recipe, is it that good or are the people visiting eggnog threads every year the same six alcoholics?
>>
>>21586785
The separate egg white thing is a bit fussy. I've done it. It makes a nice presentation and I would consider doing it for guests, but I don't think it's worth it for just drinking. I also haven't aged egg nog for over a week or so. Alton Brown just uses the yolks for aged nog which might be because of the way the whites tend to separate in the fridge.

Fan of bourbon here but after some experimentation last year think 50/50 brandy + Jamaican rum is the way to go. There are enough strong flavors in egg nog that cognac and the better Jamaican rums are overkill - California brandy and something like Appleton Signature is fine.

Its just really boozy. Same with Washingtons recipe. If you want to get smashed off it, do it. Otherwise I wouldnt bother.
