I used to be into wine and at one point had about 200 bottles stored. That whole thing failed though because i lost interest and started drinking the wine too young.
Anyway. At this point in time i have a well thought out system for picking wines.
It goes like this:
France is the best wine country. Italy comes second. The best wines from france imo comes from burgundy but they are almost always over priced. Look for small producers in the price range 30-50 bucks a bottle from good vintages.
Italy got a lot of good wines but Tuscany is my favourite. Also any chianty is usually good unless they are really cheap. Barbaresco, bordeaux, and pretty much all wines from france and italy with higher alc than 14,5 is usually mentioned to be stored 10 years. Atleast if they are fairly expensive. Thats why i dont bother either them.

How important is putting wine in a cellar or a wine fridge? I have a small collection but I just keep them in my closet. Are they all going to be ruined in a few years?
>>
>>21594980
Yes.
>>
Since you cunts were unhelpful last thread, I just bought a bottle of California "chablis" (it doesn't deserve capitalisation) for general cooking. Cheap as chips at $15 for 4l.

TL note, uccellone means big cock
>>
>>21594872
>2021 I'Mauri Friulano
>2019 L'Ame de Pape Clement Blanc
>2023 Rose de Loire
for $20/bottle i'd be all over these three
>Saint-Joseph for $35
>2021 Austin Hope Reserve
only if you're into those massive cali cabs, it is as big as it gets and it's very well made. I think you can drink that style young too which is nice.
>2015 Quintarelli VCS
that's not a bad price, I like this producer, the '15 is probably ready to drink by now, would look up reviews of the '17. either way this is a decant type of wine that you leave open for a couple hours.

the Clos Apalta and Tignanello are outstanding wine but idk about the price. the '22 burgundy vintage wasn't the best, most of the ones I tasted were too ripe and the few that were worth buying are still too young last time i checked, so I would proceed with caution.
>>
>>21594980
I've had bottles I kept on a wine rack in my closet for over half a decade (my thermostat is always like 68-72 F) before buying a wine fridge and they're still good.
>>
>>21595123
It's means big bird, retard.
>>
>>21595064
we told you to just grab a bottom shelf italian white and call it a day.
>>
>>21595370
Yeah, I saw the "advice" you gave him.
>spend $30 on 750ml wine you won't drink
is not good advice for his circumstance and it proves you don't know anything about anything.
>>21595064
I forgot the brand/winery and the thread autosaged before I could say but there's some big, cheap jug chablis that literally every Italian restaurant kitchen I've ever been to used. I hope that's the one you got.
>>
>>21595139
thx niger. they were out of the friulano so i got a bottle of my fave, cleto
>>
>>21595390
nice haul. i would've cleared the friulano out too.

Cartizze tasting today :D
>>

Franciacorta is better.
So is Asolo.
>>21595370
>>21595064
Grab a decently priced German Riesling instead. Markus Molitor.
>>21595144
>They're still good
No they're not. They're still drinkable. Different discussion.
>>21594980
It's completely irrelevant now. You need a very wet (badly built) old cellar if you want to age wine. As 99.9% of people don't have those any more, wines are now made for immediate consumption and nothing else. Simply avoid wines with too much alcohol%.
>>
>>21596886
Having Maconnais today :D

>>21595064
We gave you both good and bait advice. Not sure what you mean.
>>
>>21596930
Hard disagree on Franciacorta, low key feels like some of the worst QPR out of Italy. Might as well buy the real thing and get Champagne if you're going to spend that kind of money on bubbles.
>>
>>21594980
They'll probably be fine as long as it stays consistently cool and dark in your closet, keep them on their side

How was the taste? I have only really stuck to Taylor Fladgate Late Bottled.
>>
>>21597893
I was incredibly drunk but from what I recall of that night it tasted like orange, hazelnut, and faintly of oak and molasses/brown sugar. The Sandeman Rainwater Madeira tasted like pancakes from 1776.

One time, in my 20s, I drank so much wine with my roommate that I woke up with one of the worst hangovers of my life. Now I cannot drink wine without getting and nearly instantaneous mini headache with a piercing pain. It's like the equivalent of my body flipping a fire alarm. Am I doomed to never enjoy wine? Do you guys have a recommendation for me to start getting into wine? I use it regularly for cooking, I have tons of it but the only way I surmise it's a good bottle is by the "point" system/score given to it
>>
>>21597912
Vitamin deficiency maybe, take zinc and b vitamin complex.
>>
cousin is coming over for dinner but idk if his gf appreciates wine.... decisions on what to open
>>
>>21597912
I would start by picking wines as far away from the stuff you were drinking on that night. that's how i got back into tequila after drinking a violent amount of in college.

Taylor LBV is nice (and available everywhere), but if you can it's well worth trying a 20 year tawny. Had a Kopke recently, and adore the Sandeman

Got myself some nice roquefort.
Got myself some nice porto.
Time for the grandest cheese-wine pairing.

>good advice
As >>21595385 said, $30 for a bottle of wine I'm not going to drink is not good advice. Kirk yourself.
>>21596930
>Riesling
lmao
>>21595385
The "chablis" I bought is Carlo Rossi, same as the rosé i used to use. They're drinkable wines but not wines I would actually drink, if that makes sense. Cheap, so they're perfect for cooking, and not unpalatable.

I've found these french wines on Amazon. I'm not an expert, but the prices seemed particularly good, so I ordered them.
the Savoie was less than 6 euros (now it's 13,5)
the Bordeaux is 10,50 euros
Did I make a good deal? are those wines decent?
>>
>>21604109
>on amazon
go to a wine shop
literally why would you order any food/beverage item on amazon it was most likely not a good deal and they probably aren’t decent
>>
>>21604187
>most likely
>probably

Just say you hate Amazon instead of this silly little song and dance
