since when did ovens need descaling? I thought that was a thing only for water filters or water systems or things that have to do with water that naturally build up calcium or whatever the fuck.

I've worked in high end kitchens for 8 years. I've sold probably 100 kitchens with combination steam ovens. Never once, when asked, have I had a client actually confirm they've actually used the steam feature. They always know all about what it *can* do.
My kitchen layout looks very similar. Same oven position, but the sink is further on the left.
