It seems like a meatloaf made of hot dogs. Is this correct?
>>
this is neither "meatloaf" nor bologna. meatloaf has crushed crackers in it and bologna is cured, no need to keep frozen or cook. no, this appears to be something else entirely
>>
>Wisconsin
Very high chance it's leftover dog food from states where the average adult isn't a 220 pound alcoholic
>>
>>21598965
It's a loaf of meat, but not a meatloaf
Basically hot dog-esque, but the dried milk in there seems interesting
Shame they felt the need to put corn syrup in there for no reason

When I was a kid my parents would ship me back to France to live with my grandmother
She used to make fleischsalat in this big bowl and left it on the counter and if I ever complained about being hungry she'd just point to the bowl
One time we went to the store and she bought a section of this giant fucking hot dog, it was about a yard long and five inches in diameter
She bought a foot-long section of this uberdog and cubed it up for the fleischsalat
It was alright it kinda tasted like Bar-S hot dogs but when you add the other stuff it's not terrible

It's Leberkäs, very finely ground pork, beef and bacon. You bake it, then slap a fat slice in a fresh bun and put some mustard on top. Also goes well with potato salad.

>Madison, WI
What a shit hole
>>
>>21598965
It's delicious. >>21598993 has it right. You can eat it in a bun with mustard and/or caramelized onions. Or you can eat it in a plated meal with potato salat and some greens like spinach. A fried egg with runny yolk goes hard with Leberkäse.

Pour some water on the tray when you bake the Leberkäse to make it a bit more juicy.

Leftovers are great for pan frying the next day.

My German roommate tried to make one of these but she didn't blend the meat well enough and it came out as meat loaf, nobody wanted to eat it except me.

That's what happens when women watch 15 sec tik-tok recipes and think they've got the dish figured out...she has done this with other food btw. I still ate it and it was food.
>>
For best results combine with picrel

It's fine sausage meat in a rectangular shape.
>>
>>21598965
it tastes a lot like wurstel.
the way krauts use it, is, they cut it thick, about half 3/4 inch, and I put it in a bun, potato bun works great, with some mustard or what not, I prefer mayo and ketchup

>>21598993
like this
>>
Why bake it? Why not cut a slice and fry it on a griddle?
>>
>>21600408
>sweet housemaker mustard
What makes it Hausmacher?

I think that's just a branding. Kind of a joke, really.

doesn't look much different than the oscar mayer lunchmeat i buy. i bet its good
>>
>>21600429
Before you bake it it's a meat paste. And baking keeps the juices inside.
>>
>>21603508
had some hun friends from bavaria, that introduced me to this. i can confirm if its made correctly its seasoned and goes very well with sweet mustard and wheat beer
>>
>>21600429
with the cold leftovers its common to fry it with some eggs
>>
>>21602638
They also make a version that isn't pesticideslop.
>>
>>21598965
Before you bake it, you can form it up into some chicken nuggets then batter it before frying.
>>

Pretty cool it's kind of on an isthmus between 2 lakes.

I want to know, too, because it had way more going on than the desolate area up north where I am. My goal right now is to move to Madison after college, lol.

I don't live anywhere near Wisconsin and I'm thinking about trying to snag a place in Madison. The prices seem reasonable.

Löwensenf extra scharf is normie-hot, so only mildly hotter than normal. Way weaker than even non-asian sambal oelek.
>>
>>21604986
You could have compared it to chinese mustard - why go for chili-garlic paste? Are you trying to hybridize apples and oranges?
>>
>>21604994
Because SO is widely used and a tick hotter than western "hot" sauces. Nobody uses chinese mustard
>>
>>21605002
It's basically English mustard - mustard powder, water, maybe a bit of salt, some vinegar to set if it's being held for any length of time.
Let me know when you get something that isn't a loquat. I'm really interested to see a malus-citrus hybrid.

>>

>>
>>21606587
>>21606217

Fleischkäse is Badenserscheise but nearly the same thing. Little less salt in those, slightly different consistency as well. Liver is in neither of them.
>>
>>21606695
If it contains no liver you can't label it Leberkäse. It's that simple.
>>
>>21606745
You can. It aint cheese, either.
