Show me retarded shit you keep in your kitchen, unitaskers, stupid gadgets, etc
I love this retarded breakfast sandwich maker. I use it all the time and I find it so much easier than making it normally, I just throw the shit in here and walk away, takes me probably less than 1 minute to make 2 sandwiches. Got it for like $10 at the thrift store brand new, takes up a bunch of space but I keep it around because I love this retarded thing. Does one fuckin thing but it does it well and it has worth to me.

Only autists (and europoors with shoebox kitchens) hate unitaskers. Meanwhile I use my egg slicer all time, a certified hood classic.
>>
>>21605462
My wife has been wanting to get one of those.
>>21605467
I have a zojirushi I also got at the thrift, used but in the box still. Perfect rice. There is a reason almost every Asian household has one.
>>21605471
This is a perfect example of a product that is designed to do one thing, and do it well. Of course you can just cut it, but this will do it in 1 second and will be a much nicer presentation.
>>
>>21605475
>this will do it in 1 second and will be a much nicer presentation
And if you can spare another second, you can also pick up the slices together, rotate, and slice a second time, to dice for egg salad.

Legit autist here. I like unitaskers if they actually work well and cleaning them isn't more work than the work they saved you from. I do hate electric can openers but maybe if I needed to open dozens of cans a day, I'd find it worthwhile.
>>
>>21605467
>>21605475
Yeah I got a top of the line zojirushi for $60 off eBay and it works flawlessly. Perfect rice every time
>>
>>21605475
>There is a reason almost every Asian household has one.
And any Western autist who complains about them has no understanding what it's like living in a culture where you need to prepare rice for an entire family for 3 meals/day. My only issue is that I want one with a stainless steel vessel, and our oriental friends have apparently not gotten the news about nonstick coatings yet.
>>
>>21605491
>I do hate electric can openers
I agree with you there, friend, but I hardly ever even seen them anymore. They were a boomer fad, and I think the main market now is people with arthritis or similar mobility issues (which are no joke).
>>
>>21605499
Are electric can openers used in your typical commercial/restaurant kitchen? That would make sense.

i grew up with an electric can opener, we had the same one from the time I was a kid until I was almost an adult, I think I didn't use a manual one until I was a teenager. when i moved in with my gf in college she had a manual one that had worn down and needed to be replaced, she was the opposite and had never used an electric opener. we decided on an electric one, got one for maybe $15 at walmart and she was never able to use it reliably. been through a bunch of them over the years but the past few we've had this and it's the best i've ever used. no sharp edge, very minimal force required to turn it, absolutely love this thing.

The restaurants I've worked at have all used this exact style of can opener made to open food service sized cans. it has a very thick sharp blade. I've seen electric ones made for food service at supply stores but I've never had one at a restaurant I worked at.

Handheld ones barely take up any more space than manual twist can openers. The nicer ones are rechargeable and leave a smooth edge.

I think they're talking about this kind of countertop style electric opener. The ones you posted can be good though, I had one for a while but it just decided to stop being strong enough to work one day and I had to toss it.

Food processor I got from Target on sale for about $25. I like it a lot, makes quick work of chicken breast. Also like to shred bags of spinach and freeze them, more cost effective than buying pre-frozen stuff.

>takes a long-ass time to go through even a small batch of batter

I'll stick to normal baking and breadmaking thanks

instapot / pressure cooker - I can make hardboiled eggs that east peel, stews and soups that would take hours take 45 mins to 1 hour for that slow simmered effect. Using much more heavily as we get into fall.

rice cooker - got me a zojurishi for my bday. I can make rice on a stove but this is just mindless and keeps it warm for however long I need while I make the main. Can also steam some veggies or something in the steam insert at the same time. Used at least 2x a week since getting it.

I wanna get an indoor blackstone griddle but I'm afraid I'll use it a few times then banish it to the bottom of the pantry

This was the exact can opener my family had for probably over a decade. I remember taking the blade part off to clean it, I thought it was so cool you could do that because our old one had gotten gross over years of use.

Do you cook the spinach before freezing? Also can you just dump the frozen spinach in a dish or does it come out soggy from being frozen?

I worked in a complaints department once and had to tell so many retards that the strings of metal they kept finding in their tuna were from their shitty electric can opener interfering with the seam on the ring pull tab
>>
>>21605965
Was wondering how long it would take for someone to notice that the can in the image had a pull tab. Didn't expect to find out that some people actually try to use a can opener on that type of can.

As previously mentioned, there is market for people with arthritis and other issues, and for them, the pull tab can be as difficult to use as a manual can opener. Heck, even I sometimes encounter cans with pull tabs where the lids end up buckling/bending instead of opening cleanly.

I want one of those OP pic'd

most of mine came from garage sales except the tea ball, which gets used in stock with herbs mostly
I found the bottom middle thing yesterday at a restaurant supply store
Any idea the true nature of it? I'll use it for tomatoe tops soon

No

Dunno, haven't tried that, I only grind it up with the chicken or cook it before adding it to stuff.

Waffle irons are one of those things you have to use PERFECTLY or you will fuck it up beyond repair by burning batter onto it that you will never get off. The trick is, double waffle maker, NEVER EVER use nonstick sprays, they will polymerize onto the surface and never come off, this really comes for anything nonstick you have, you have to use actual oil, veg or olive, and they will not stick. You also have to trust the iron and learn how long it takes to cook, can't take them out too early or you're making a mess. Once you've learned your iron and know some of the tricks then you won't have issues. My iron just gets wiped out with a damp cloth when I'm done with it, absolutely nothing sticks to it so it doesn't need a full cleaning.

I like the cheese grater, that looks a lot better than any of the pieces of shit I've used. Also peeped the weedbutter mold I remember seeing those magical butter machines on the top shelf at headshops when I was like 15 many many years ago. They'd be up there next to the volcanoes and Zongs or whatever other expensive shit there was back then.

I think if you have a desire to make breakfast sandwiches then it's worth opening. It's really incredibly simple, plug it in, put bread and meat in, crack in an egg, i put cheese on top of the egg, put bread on top of that and close it, after a couple sandwiches you'll figure out how long exactly you want to cook them for the toppings you used. Takes very little time and I just walk away to continue getting ready or whatever and go back when it beeps. The middle part comes off and I just put it right in the dishwasher but honestly nothing has ever stuck to it except melted cheese that I left there to clean up hours later once.
