Let me preface this by saying I'm not really a "beer guy", I'll usually reach for wine instead, and greasy fried pub grub is not my thing.

With that being said, I'll take a millennial style brewpub with silly named IPAs and hot sauce flights over McDonalds garbage any day and I will die on this hill.

What went wrong with humanity where people trying (and not necessarily succeeding, but at least they "tried hard" omg cringe!) is now seen as a bad thing, and ghoulish slop with a scary clown mascot is nostalgia and greatness?

Effort is pointless when all it ever does is enrich the evil bastards trying to kill us all. Human civilization is reaching its end stage soon, either the 0.1% succeed at killing off 95% of humanity starting with whites according to their plan, or we burn down civilization and die anyway. Your named IPAs and hot sauce flights will not save you from the inevitable, they are just a distraction which makes it come faster.
>>

how is a local pub bar and grill trying to kill you any more than McDonald's?

You people control everything, you hold all the cards and you're pulling all the strings, and you're still acting like you're oppressed, at what point do you have enough to not talk like this? Is there even one?

It’s all still modernist so it’s still bad. We should go back to eating a pound of cheese and bread for lunch in a field with our close friends

I assume this post is an ironic reference to the manufactured "ploughman's lunch" pseudohistorical tradition that was manufactured by a private equity owned restaurant chain in england?

Fast food has nutritional value. Sure, the micronutrient content is poor, the macros are a mess and it's full of trans fats, but at the end of the day it's still food, and you could fit some of it into a healthy diet if you tried really hard.

There's no reason to drink alcohol.
>>

At least the cheese fries they sell at a pub contains like, I dunno calcium and vitamin d and fat and protein and shit

they found a way to make it marketable but it was a common food before then and was marketed to increase consumption after war rationing ended

>Bread and cheese formed the basis of the diet of English rural labourers for centuries: skimmed-milk cheese, supplemented with small amounts of lard and/or butter, was their main source of fats and protein.[5] In the absence of access to expensive seasonings, onions were the "favoured condiment",[6] as well as providing a valuable source of vitamin C.

>This traditional combination was broken by rationing; the Cheese Bureau hopes, by demonstrating the natural affinity of the two parties, to effect a remarriage

It's a way for the masses to self regulate for the worldly powers that be so that no one accidentally gets more influence or power than the worldly powers that be want them to.

Crazy when you think about it.

There's an equal if not greater amount of fat fucks at the pub, don't kid yourself. Beer belly is called that for a reason. Alkies typically eat like shit on top of their substance problem. Not every fast food goer drinks.

I've been to brewpubs probably 10 times in the last 10 years. I've been to fast food joints maybe twice. So I am an alkie, essentially, since I consume 10x as much alcohol as nutritious healthy food such as big macs and coca cola.

I think I've been to a pub maybe twice in my life, no fast food in years. I'd sooner find myself in the latter, though.

My waist and HR measured right now are 31ish and 56 respectively. My last lipid panel was years ago don't have it on hand, sorry. I ran my first marathon a few months ago, not great not terrible for a first one.

Seems obvious to me neither of us should be giving a shit about either establishment.

IPA fags suck. Weed but I also like IPAs is the bane of beer culture.
While the "Hazy New England Strong IPA" has earned its place good God I'm sick of them.
IPAs should only ever be Western, cascade style hops. A rare palette cleanse.
Pale Ales are infinitely better if you like hopiness.
Craft breweries depend entirely on the brewer's skill. Lots of weird unique shit like German Farm Beers with hints of wildberries. British ESB that actually have flavor. Irish Lagers. Shit like this.
Very few people can pull of a good Cream Ale and a I don't know why.

I grew up eating McDonald's and have nostalgia for it because of that

I hate foodies/beer snobs because they're the worst breed of my generation, hipsters. Real guys who like beer grew up drinking bud or something, it's not the best but you grow a taste for whatever shitty cheap beer you grew up on. Hipsters are like people who got into beer as adults, just want to stunt on people with their new "hobby" and didn't work for it by being a real alchie or at all because they're rich kids who could have gone to college or did anyway

It's like how music critics prop up a "blue collar master" like Bruce Springstein, but they'll shit on what the actual blue collar rock fan grew up on like ACDC or Aerosmith
>>
>>21606343
>got into beer as adults
Well yeah, that's kind of how it's supposed to work?
>>
>>21606344
I bet you think the average smoker get addicted by starting at 18, too.
>>
>>21606344
Yeah but it isn't, most people I know who drink a lot started as teens. In any case, it's people who don't really drink beer but want to say they do who spend like 20 bucks on a six pack because it tastes like apple cider and not piss

I can't afford that because when I drink beer I drink like ten-fifteen beers, not three or six, yes I can appreciate a nice beer with flavor but it's just not practical for the average drunk, it's better suited for like a treat with some nice burgers but again you get back to the cliche of the hipster that is just annoying to regular folk, like the best burgers I've had were made by some old guy at a local place and is basic but delicious, not some bourbon infused meatball with an avocado on it that costs as much as a steak

I do understand the annoyance at people, mostly Gen z, who call anything genuine, unironic, or just plain good "cringe" but using hipster foodies as an example isn't the way

Millennial hipsters started the obsession with irony, Gen z just continued it in a tweaked way that becomes "post ironic"

SPBP.

OP is just trying to de-legitimize criticism of his soiboy watering holes. IPAs taste like shit, excessive hops for the sake of excessive hops and the people who guzzle them are all pretentious nu-males.
>>
>>21606184
Honestly bro, I'd rather have a fast food burger assembled by some teenagers with an actual future over some "authentic" -- whatever is trendy at the moment hipster bar food made by a fucking retard because 90% of restaurants are ran by literal 2 digit IQ retards, druggies, and adult failures. The older I get and the better I get at cooking the more I appreciate fast food over regular restaurants. Maybe if I lived in like a cosmopolitan area or something I would appreciate actual restaurant food more though.
>>
>>21606690
>Maybe if I lived in like a cosmopolitan area or something I would appreciate actual restaurant food more though
I live in a major city and I doubt you would like OPs IPA gastropubs. Everything is incredibly overpriced, IPA sucks, the service is rude and all know-it-all 20 somethings, the food is pretentious and over the top in all the worst ways, they're loud and play terrible music, the decor looks like a public school boiler room from the the 1970s and did I mention how disgustingly overpriced those places are?
>inb4 old man
I went to those places as a young man in the 2010s and hated them fifteen years ago for the same reasons. They've only become worse.

I'm a nonwhite and I know for a fact I went to McDonalds at least once in both the 1980s and 1990s. I remember wondering why the hamburgers always had a weird chemical smell. Normies won't understand because to them, that's how hamboigahs should smell.

He's saying it like a retard but he's not entirely wrong. I'm pretty sure he's saying McDonald's is/was a symbol of American cultural supremacy over the world much like Coca-Cola or Hollywood movies or American music because of how those cultural exports are well known and consumed in every corner of the globe. Look into the hysteria that happened when McDonald's first opened in Russia.

This goes without saying and may as well be some botnet LLM. Fast food and drive throughs and diners were supposed to be for commuting long distances, not wagies completely spent settling for takeout just to not have to spend another hour making real food for less one they get home. Gastropubs with reasonable portions and pricing are an evolution and outgrowth of Diners, to the extent that's scraped by.
