>see rose wine>Wow, that must taste delicious!>drink rose wine>it's invariably watery piss
hey, this guy drinks piss!!
>he’s buying cheap rosé
It gets you drunk. What's the problem?
>>21608423>just buttchug a handle of vodka bro, it gets you drunk. What's the problem?
>>21608476I prefer ingesting my vodka via IV drip
My rich aunt gave me a glass of rose. It tasted the way raw chicken smells.
>>21608365It's the lookism of wine. It's novelty is entirely visual. It shouldn't surprise you but as you know rich people are very performative and effeminate.
all wine tastes like vinegar
>>21608416Napa or Livermore?
>>21608365I've never had a rose that I've liked.Tho I haven't had much of it (I have had some more expensive ones).Anyways having Cru Beaujolais tonight
Good rose costs money but r-slurs are too cheap to pay what good rose costs because "it's just rose"Good rose starts around $35, at least in the US
Then pick a white zinfandel that costs more than $10 and doesn't come in a box.
>>21608718Pretty sure there's only one and it's Turley's
Rosé is peak wineaunt wineIt goes down easily, it can be drunk very cold, it has sweet flavours, it's everything you need to get drunk in summer or any other time of the year
>>21608689>Good rose starts around $35, at least in the USNo way holy hell, you dont have french rosé that's cheap, like just Méditerannée or Coteaux d'Aix? It should be hella cheap
>>21608792>rose is shitty provencal pink>>21608788>rose is sweetExhibit A on why people don't take rose seriously.
>>21608652You're supposed to drink it right after you uncork the bottle, not let it sit for a week opened.
Drink a nice Bandol rose.
>>21608797You shouldnt take it seriously unless you're a wine nerdRosé hasnt yet reached the maturity to be wine nerd worthy but there's definitely good cheap wines and great wines that are more expensive
>>21608365The fuck kind of piss you drinking? You need to stop drinking diabetic old hag piss and upgrade to something better.
>>21608365Well of course, it's got all the negative qualities of both red and white and none of the positives, what are you expecting?
>>21608652>port tastes like vinegarCome now lad.
>>21609430Anon learned that wine ages to vinegar if you don't store it right the hard way lol.
>>21608637>It'slol

>>21608365>>21608365It's literally piss in a bottle. From a lady called Rose.
>>21610064trannycore name
>>21608365Cheapes wine I ever found was rose. I suspect it was made by just pouring white and red wine together.
>>21608365Most of it's aimed at 20-something single women who don't know better and don't care. "Orange" is kind of the flip side where it's usually piss aimed at people who should know better and should care.A lot of wine (and beer for that matter) is trash, but having a wide base of dogshit helps people to know what they aren't looking for. For instance, if I see "Smoky leather" on a Baco Noir, I know that they tried to rush the oaking, possibly with whiskey barrel oak, and that the end result is going to remind me of sticking a straw into a dead car battery.Rose vermouths are usually a pretty good balance between sweet and dry vermouth - good for Manhattans, especially if the whiskey's a little too (peanut) buttery.
>>21609438It was intentional, but this is more or less how I learned that tawny port vinegar is the absolute tits, and it made me sad that I can't find it anywhere.
>>21609459Kekcel located
>>21610129For anyone unaware, making vinegar from wine is really easy. If the wine has no preservatives, or only sulfite, you only need to dilute it with half as much water and let it stand in a jar covered by cloth. Inoculation with mother from cider vinegar helps, but it's not typically necessary. Homemade wine vinegar makes really excellent salad dressing. It's definitely better than anything from the store (except super expensive balsamic vinegar).
>>21608365I feel you, OP. I'm from the coteaux d'Aix region and here, rosé is strictly a summer drink, usually served extra cold, often with lots of ice cubes. IMO, it's served that cold because it's just not good warmer when your palate is not numbed. It's a lesser white wine. I was talking with a guy working in a decently sized winery and he told me 90% of their black grapes was turned to rosé to sell abroad. It's a shame, but hey, supply/demand. I don't drink enough red wine to save this industry. Nobody does anymore, sadly.
>>21610323So they make a shit tonne of rose for ze stupide Americaines to go vif zeir mac-donaldes, and that covers them to make some reserve batches of the good stuff and hold onto it for as long as they want.It sucks, but if they weren't selling enough red to keep things going smoothly anyway, then it's for the best that they're capitalizing on stupidity - stupidity will always pay.
I only drink it in summer to get drunk and/or go with grilled meat. There's probably good rosés but it's much easier and cheaper to find good reds or whites
>>21610415Even the production of it lends itself to mediocrity - making a white out of a red grape.

>>21610574TBA spätburgunder would like to have a word with you.Understandable mistake though, since people who aren't into wine have probably never heard of anything like that.
>>21610574High quality post.
>>21610589Kind of an inane post actually. Assuming he was thinking of provencal rose (which seems to be the limit of /ck/'s experience when it comes to the pink stuff so let's assume he meant that) they're nothing alike and it makes no sense to evaluate them on the same scale.
>>21610596I was being sarcastic. Yes the post makes no sense
>>21610601Oh, sorry. I'm so dazzled by all the inanity in this thread I just took it at face value.
>>21610587He comes in with a sweet white dessert wine and you hit him with German pinot noir... Why not something like Gewurtztraminer that (s)he might enjoy?
>>21610621I'm not really sure where you're coming from with that, but when it comes to wine discussions on /ck/ sometimes I feel like a space alien so it's probably me and not you
>>21610623I was trying to open up a discussion on trockenbeerenauslese by being an asshole. Not a great tactic, but - seeing as you get the auslander vibes here too, you might understand - often effective.Sauternes guy, homie's right with the Spaetburgunder. It's like the mutant alien lab baby of a Sauternes (or similarly sweet noble rot white) and a rose - it's made with Pinot Noir grapes that have been botrytized, but it's not macerated, so it's always white (despite being made with a red grape). If you find Spaetburgunder that isn't TBA, 99% of the time, you're looking at a somewhat dry red. It's still very good, just not anywhere near a dessert wine.
>>21610633Oh I see. Fooled again! But I mean there is also something, not sure if I'd call it a "tradition" as I'm not knowledgeable about german or austrian wines, but I'll say a "thing", of spätburgunder being produced as an off-dry, still rose, and relative to a TBA it's considerably cheaper (obviously perhaps) but in my opinion can still be a good wine (as long as you are open to the idea of rose, and sweet, as being good, these are both concepts that a lot of people will bristle at I'm well aware)Anyway the point I was trying to make was that all bets are off when it comes to what you're gonna get when you get a peeno from germany, like did you know they will do a late harvest and turn it into a dry, high ABV wine too? Yes "auslese" doesn't always mean sweet! I know you know technically that's not what the word means but people come to expect certain things and I'm saying some expectations can lead you astray
>>21610683Germans... doing weird things with alcohol and not telling anyone? There's a cider company here trying out some funky stuff. I used to do a lot of cross promotion with them when I worked at a local brewery... They've got a new batch of cans from their work with a local winery, and one of them is a sparkling dry dry-rot rose made with pinot noir... with funky artwork... in a fucking can.I asked my contact over there about it, and she came back with something like "I brought them the idea. My husband's family does all kinds of things with their grapes back in Baden. They send me a few bottles of non-standard pinot noir every year, but there's always a semi-dry noble-rot rose in there, and I always save it for last."
Let me guess you need more?
>>21608365The lie is that any ethanol beverage tastes good and the 21st amendment wasn't a mistake.
>>21614640The lie is that you're not drunk off your ass right now on cheap rose wine and vanity.
>>21616224>cheap rose wine and vanityThis is like the lyrics to a self-written song you'd hear at the neighborhood hipster bar circa 2010 where some beardy mcbeardman who also does web design is playing guitar and singing for tips and everyone claps politely but secretly wishes he would stop

The only wine that tasted good to me was some rose they gave me while a was doing a DJ gig for an art gallery exhibit. I wish I knew what it was, very other wine tastes bad to me.
>>21616404white zinfandel
>>21616433It was 7-8 years ago. I don't remember the brand, but the colour was rather on he lighter side. I should have asked. I don't know anything about wine.
>>21610009proof?
>>21610455why would you spend 120 dollars on their rose when you could spend 120 dollars on their white, which is one of the best whites in europe?
>>21616454They're both great wines. I haven't had all wines, of course, but if it was me I'd delete the "in europe" part. Also, it didn't always cost $120, but the cat is out of the bag now.
>>21616446It was just a semi-educated guess. White zinfandel is a sweet blush wine. People who don't like wine will usually enjoy white zinfandel, and the name sounds un-English enough that you can get away with serving it at gallery parties. You might wind up with smoked duck lollipops dipped in exploding tamarind-peanut candy served on a beach dune of fried garlic mashed yukon gold potatoes with spicy pickled leek seaweed, and the bar might be serving all kinds of fancied up classic cocktails, but there will always be some kind of lager, at least one red wine that might as well be piss from a damaged kidney, and a dessert wine that is usually Ice/Eiswine, Sauternes, or White Zinfandel.I hated doing galas, but I did love the food.
>>21616541>Ice/Eiswine, Sauternes, or White Zinfandel. Are these good, should I try them. The exhibit was all fancy rich fags, I said to the girl I don't like wine and she said you will like this trust me and she was right.
>>21616567They're all sweet. Icewine and Sauternes have a bit of a raisinyness to them, but not as much as something like a port would... White zinfandel is very fruity - often tastes like an alcopop.Even the grungiest gala I've done (usually lights, video or production liason/supervisor) is all rich fags huffing in the pretense, telling each other they're going to buy whatever lukewarm garbage is on the wall or being made in front of them in the round. They'll attempt to dress like me; I'll attempt to dress like them. Our eyes will meet and we'll know we're all poseurs catalysing the flow of money to hand to pocket, and so little of it our own.But yes. Dessert wines - TBA (Sauternes, Spaetburgunder/Pinot Noir), Ice wines, or wines with halted fermentation (like white zinfandel) will all have fruity characteristics and a sweetness that goes well with dessert, and not in a rich red and dark chocolate masochism kind of way.
>>21616224>you're not drunk off your ass right nowI wasn't when I posted that, I'm certainly not now. And yes, I'm serious about the 21st amendment.
>>21616739You'll never understand this, but - assuming you're not a bot because of the repetitive nature of your retarded posts - you're in such a worse shape than the drinkers. Seriously. >>21616739I kind of got the repealing of prohibition from the context, but I still had to look it up - what with it not being my constitution, charter, or amendments. It's a little weird that you would come into an alcohol thread to extol the virtues of teetotaling, but I guess there isn't much point in preaching elsewhere. You were talking to someone else, but the benefits of genetics and environment have blessed me with an incredible resistance to hangovers and falling down. I will probably be onto the third shot (scene, filming - not liquor) by the time you roll out of bed, because THIS INDUSTRY IS RETARDED AND I DO NOTHING TO HELP IT... If I drink tonight, it will probably just be a splash of cherry brandy in some sparkling water for "dessert"

For people who think France doesn't have any decent rose, Olga Raffault's version is pretty respectableI assume we're not going to talk about champagne
