What extremely unique or unusual whiskies have you really enjoyed?
>>21612062Willett purple top single barrels, too expensive to recommend, but if you want a unique bourbon, it's got funk.
Wouldn't say it's unique but I'm really enjoying this one
>>21612062Gin.
>>21611551I've mixed with $500+ bottles, drink however you want to drink.
>>21612842What cocktails work best with a high shelf whiskey?
Bunnahabhain 12 CS Batch 3 is first pour I've had in a whileanybody heard anything about this years CS?
>>21613273Truly men's hour.

>>21612842ok this is the part of the thread where I call you a retard, then you say I’m poor, then I say needlessly wasting money is actually poorfag behavior and allude to africans, then you double down and say wasting doesn’t matter if you’re not poor, others may chime in but at the end of the day you’re objectively masking the subtle notes and engaging in diminishing returns and we’ll never get through to each otherthere i saved 5-10 posts of this thread
>>21613728See you're approaching whiskey from a "value" perspective which in my mind doesn't exist.Whisky is whisky, enjoy it however you want. I'd personally always recommend drinking ANY whisky you've never had before straight before doing anything else with it. But as long as you've tried it straight first, feel free to mix it however you want. You can get fantastic cocktails with high shelf whisky, just because YOU prefer sipping it straight doesn't make you any better than someone else.Your preferences, your opinions, your habits, they're all yours and (should be) irrelevant to everyone else.I'm not here to tell you how to enjoy your whisky, only to tell you that YOU don't get to decide how I enjoy mine, or anyone else's.
Fuck post-modernism.There are objective rights and wrongs.
Yeah, it's objective that whisky with a drop of watter always tastes better
gonna ask the liquor store bro if he'll start carrying old tub. never had it but i think it might be my favorite
>>21613757>neatfags be like
>>21613960I think it got discontinued. They didn't have it at the distillery when I went about 2 months ago.
What’s a good Irish whiskey to try if I like greenspot and black barrel. Usually drink rye but tried Irish whiskey recently and like it.
>>21614904Red breast and Dingle are my go to along with greenspot.
>>21613997You're not taking small enough of sips if it burns too much.
>>21614904I had Green Spot and Redbreast side by side and Redbreast absolutely mogged it.
>>21613755>"value" perspective which in my mind doesn't existbro lives outside the corporeal realm>YOU don't get to decide how I enjoy mineit's true i don't, but i DO get to cringe at itlet us cease this discussion for i grow weary of its infinite repeats
>>21613760>watter
The Local Jewel osco has some of the JD heritage Toasted for sale. Should I buy at MSRP?
>>21616352seems to be a pretty sought-after bottle and I've heard it's good, I'd grab it
I wonder how many crossposters there are between this and /lit/'s /wg/
>>21612458Beavis and Butthead approve.
Rye is the whiskey distillers actually prefer for themselves.
>>21617425Went make broad statement that are obviously false? You could've at least tried to make it believable by saying MANY distillers prefer rye, though even that would be unsourced and likely bullshit, at least it's plausible.

>>21612062Fairly new in the whiskey journey and I have loved Laphraoig 10 so far. I have tried a decent amount of things, some bourbons, ryes, a couple Irish, and one Japanese. Is there any specific direction I should go at this point? Frankly, I'd be fine sipping on what I've tried so far, but I feel like I should look for specific flavors that really suit me. An example is that I also like oaked flavors, am only so-so about sherry, and prefer pot stills if I'm going to have an Irish. Maybe expand on my rye knowledge? I want to try more Japanese as well, due to their unique wood flavors, but they are often quite expensive.
>>21618108Find a style you like and dive deeper into whisky within that style until you find something you REALLY like.
>>21618141Yeah that's what I was thinking. Scotch, of course, gets a bit expensive so it'll be a slow process. If I like Laph 10, where should I go from there? Beyond just, 10+X, I mean.
>>21618154>If I like Laph 10, where should I go from there?Ardbeg, Kilchoman, Port Charlotte, Longrow, Springbank.
>>21612458Love the kicking chicken!
Is Bookers worth $125? I've yet to see it locally until now but the price seems steep. They also have Knob Creek 12 which I've wanted to try for a while but for $90. I figured I'd be disappointed since I didn't particularly enjoy KC8 anyway.
>>21618203I'm not a huge fan of Bookers, and there's so many of them. I'd find a bar that has it and try it first. KC12 is fantastic and absolutely worth getting but that price is pretty steep, I've gotten it for $60-$70
>>21618214same experience here...I usually see kc12 for about $70, although I saw it once at costco for $59....sold out very quicklyBookers I tend to see for around $90
>>21618203I quite enjoyed my bookers, though I paid $86.
Picked up a bottle of pic related on sale for 30 bucks and I quite like it. Never really been interested in Irish whiskey before, but those micks seem to know what they're doing.
