Why did it fail in the US?
>>21612153because pork had a big comeback with their "the other white meat" campaign and they used classical music if I remember rightnot some stupid jingle
>>21612170Well, that's just silly reasoning. Hell if I remember whatever "classical music" they used for the "Pork, the other white meat" ads but everyone remembers the Chicken Tonight jingle.
>>21612175classical music is calming to the soul on a subconscious level that's not to say I didn't do some funky dance if the the chicken tonight commercial came on as a kid
>>21612153American chicken has too many seasonings because there are so many regional and ethnic variations.Advertising also played a key role, the reason it had the best success in the UK was they got Ian Wright's endorsement in the mid-90s before anyone knew how good he was in front of a camera. It also helped a bit on that earlier thing I said about Ethnic/Regional variations because he was a black guy and the English/British already like creamy seasonings. Never underestimate the power of a charismatic athlete with a good stage presence.
>>21612170‘Chu drivin’ at mate? Speak English please.
>>21612175>Chicken Tonight>Chicken Tonigh>Chicken>Chicken>Chicken...>to NIGHT!Who could forget
>>21612199>Who could forget>99you it seemswhere's the "I feel like" part
Too much effort for the average American.
>>21612153I don't know because it's even less effort that Americans usually put into their cooking. You'd think it'd be a big hit
So I just looked this up and see it was sold in the US from 1990 to the 2000s. I'm in my mid-40s, so that would plant it firmly into what I'd think of as my prime TV watching era. Watched a few of the adverts on YouTube, and gotta say I have absolutely zero memory of having ever seen it before, or having heard that jingle.
>>21612225You just dump the sauce over the chicken, yeah, what could be simpler?
>>21612153Becuse "Chicken Tonight" is a shit brand, for shit darkies, aimed at a shit demographic.
>>21612242Whoa, easy on the racism there, bud.
>>21612189>Advertising also played a key role, the reason it had the best success in the UK was they got Ian Wright's endorsementNothing to do with that, it was just the catchy jingle.
>>21612232They even referenced the catchy-ass jingle on the Simpsons
>>21612153jim morrison ate all the chicken

>>21612450Ian Wright had a lot to do with it, just look at the two posts above yours. Arsenal star, famous Black Briton. Also generally British, Indian and Jamaican chicken is more inclined to creamy seasoning than most Latin and East Asian chicken and Southern and Midwestern Barbecue Chicken moved heavier into dry rubs So you just have that the major ethnic groups and the larger immigrant groups on either side had different inclinations towards chicken prep and American and British cuisines show their biggest gaps in how they view chicken seasoning. Both with native and immigrant groups.
>>21612153I prefer Mac Tonight
>>21612210Yeah it was >I FEEL LIKE CHICKEN TONIGHT>LIKE CHICKEN TONIGHT
>>21612153because people eating it felt like the idiots on the boobtube doing the chicken wing flapping thing.
>>21612902>ask mom what's for dinner>mom says' chicken tonight>my mom, me, and my sister break into chicken tonight dance singing the jingle for the third time this week>my dad says to order pizza and we never have chicken tonight again
>>21612234Ground beef. Chicken is a lot harder to cook than a pan of ground beef.
>>21612153Because Americans prefer dark meat
>>21612153Fail? I remember them airing commercials for it for 3 -4 years straight. There's no reason why something like that would become a massive success. But it certainly didn't fail. It was unnecessary. People don't really want chicken based "helper" pasta dishes where you need to provide the chicken AND the pasta. Too much work.
>>21612175You're thinking of "beef, it's what's for dinner". It wasn't classical music either. It's fucking Aaron Copeland.
>>21613177cope
>>21612475Most of us are Americans so all of that is nonsense. Never heard of those people. Soccer I'm guessing. Or some shitty "comedy" that doesn't translate outside England.
>>21612482No one eats there anymore either.
>>21613184>Or some shitty "comedy" that doesn't translate outside England. It is funny, delightful, and enjoyable and I will not stand for such slander.
>>21613187What is? Just all British "humor"? Sorry, Nigel. You will stand for it. Or sit for it. Or lay down. I don't care. But it's the truth and you are accepting it. The only reason you people even pretend it's funny is that it's all you have. Anything good is exported. Like Ricky Gervais. Anything else that stays there just sucks and only you few find it funny. Whereas America is the entertainment of the world. I guess without England we wouldn't exist to outshine you though. So thanks for that. And I'd happily trade our dumbass leader for a prime minister or even a king right about now. That's the only area where the US currently sucks.
>>21613195>or even a king right about nowyou will
>>21613180Shut up, slave!
>>21613184Nobody American is ignorant enough to not know what Arsenal is.
>>21613315Never underestimate the stupidity of Americans. Why would most of us know about some soccer team? We don't even watch it unless it's the Olympics or we're in the world cup. I'd guess 95% of Americans don't know what arsenal is. I just know it's a soccer team and that's because I'm really smart and I read it somewhere. I don't know any other teams. Why do you assume your culture is so important to us? A few 60s rock bands and James Bond is all we give a fuck about out of you.

>>21612475>Ian Wright had a lot to do with it,He had NOTHING to do with it, why are you promoting this rubbish? Housewives who bought the stuff wouldn't know who he was anyway.
>>21613177He is classical, and it’s spelled “Copland”, prole
>>21613543*an IrishESL retard.
>>21612153Because I am having Beef Tonight.Beef. Its whats for dinner.
>>21612909No it isn’t. What a silly thing to say.
>>21612153Because America's Funniest Home Videos "Iguana Tonight" spoof embarrassed them into bankruptcy.
>>21613996Chicken is 100% more difficult to cook well than simple 80% ground beef, what do you mean? You can't just pan fry it bc of the density, you have to slow cook it after searing on the stove or put it in the oven. I feel like chicken might actually be the hardest main protein to cook, pork and beef are easy.
>>21613007completely untrue of white americans
