Obviously I’ll still pepper things like steak, but I have no idea how the culinary world developed this mindless obsession with putting pepper on literally everything.
so glad it pisses your candy ass off
The heat of the pepper flavors the food.
For some reason my OP greentext got deleted>grew up putting salt and pepper mindlessly on everything >one day forget to pepper my eggs>realize how much cleaner and unmasked the flavor of the eggs is >start consciously leaving pepper out of most things >things just taste *better*
>>21612840similar to me but with mac and cheese. most recipes call for black pepper and i liked it more when i started making it without.i still like it too but i only use it when i actually want that flavor instead of it being used on everything.
>>21612831It's this thing where pepper tastes very good to most people. You're not one of them. You're special
i started deep diving into green and white peppercorns and the pink ones that aren't even part of the family
>>21612831it's goodit is the best spiceespecially on any savory dairy heavy dishesalso savory egg dishes or anything including mayonnaise
>>21612831>>21612832>>21612835>>21612840>>21612864That was uncalled for. Calling on you to retract your statements.
>>21612881Change my mind.
I put pepper and cayenne on everything
It doesn't have any saltiness, so it's probably better than the Roman custom of putting garum on everything.
>>21612831>>21612840I acknowledge and respect your opinion on the matter whilst quietly questioning your ability to identify flavour profiles and how that may signify some sort of handicap. All the best to you, sir.
you should try tellicherry peppercorns

Adding black pepper to everything is literally no different than putting hot sauce on everything. If a person compulsively squirted hot sauce on every dish we would rightly call him a tasteless pleb, but pepperfags get the pass because of tradition.
Opposite feeling for me, I order peppercorns in bulk to crunch on like candy.
>>21613702>you put the most common spice of all time on your food?>must be a you problem, retardconsider suicide
Pepper added heat before the West learned more effective methods of heat like hot sauce. Hot sauce makes pepper redundant as a spice.
>>21614572>Hot sauce makes pepper redundant as a spice.Different flavors. Neither makes the other redundant, except in the feeble minds to tastelet plebs.
>>21612832Says the spoiled primadonna that hasnt even broken a fingernail in his life
>>21612864Try white pepper in white foods like Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes etc.
>>21614974why?
>>21614046hot sauce is much too complex of a flavor to compare pepper to, plus hot sauce could taste like anything. pepper tastes like pepper
>>21614974white pepper sucks, get tellicherry pepper
