How the fuck do people deal with preparing garlic?

Im not even talking about the smell when you eat it, thats a given and you can joke about it. But preparing it is insane. Not only the actual physicality of peeling and cutting the gloves. The smell of fresh garlic sticks to your hands and home for days. As i aid i dont mind it and you can even argue it a badge of honor because everyone knows youre not afraid to use garlic in your cooking, but still, the smell is something for sure..

Do professional chefs always stink of garlic? I feel like garlic is the final boss of cooking.

literally just wet your hands and wipe them on something stainless steel.

>Not only the actual physicality of peeling and cutting the gloves
chop off the stem and crush them with the flat of the knife. done.

>OCD-like rituals for something as mundane as cooking

Thanks, but no. Cooking should be effortless. If not, youre doing it wrong. Or do you also set a timer for our steak or check core temperature on a roast? lol

>my hands smell like garlic
>should i remove the garlic smell with a simple housewive's trick?
>no, i will pretend my problems are unsolvable to extend the one and only social interaction i will get today.

sad.
>>

>how do I fix this problem without doing anything to fix this problem?
are you actually retarded?

Just rinse your hands under cold running water and rub them with some stainless steel

peeling and cutting aint bad. you just lay the flat of your knife (or a board scraper) over the clove, and slam your fist down. the softer garlic buckles and crumples, while the paper remains separate, and can be pulled right off
mincing it's not that hard either. it behaves like onion.... no, BLACK garlic is what's troublesome. it's like a damn gummi, you can maybe get it into slices, but from there? there's NO hope of stacking those and mincing. it will all stick to your knife.

nitrile gloves then? i will admit garlic smell on hands is a huge pain.

You should try my homeland recipe: bagnacaoda. One head of garlic per persone. Amazing. Even my cat cried once while I was peeling all the garlic.
Washing the smell away from your hands Is Easy: just rub them with toothpaste. The problem Is the house. Bedsheet, walls, everything smells, after

I feel like the sardines are stanking up the house a lot worse than the garlic.

1. Buy those chinese square cleavers
2. Chop the tip of the ends of each garlic clove. Don't peel them before hand
3. Smash the garlic clove with the flat sife of the cleaver in one sharp blow. This will separate the garlic skin from the flesh
4. Pick the separated skin off with the tip of the cleaver
5. Smash the peeled garlic cloves some more or chop them up with the cleaver
6. Scoop up the chopped garlic with the cleaver and use in cooking.

At no time you need to touch the smelly peeled garlic with this method.

My local Vietnamese store sells 12 oz deli containers of peeled garlic cloves for $3.49 feels great to be alive

I just get this from Costco, $12.50 for 3 pounds
>>
>>21630800
Put the unpeeled cloves in a glass jar and shake the crap out of them. The skins fall off easily
>>
>>21631285
It also bruises the garlic
>>
I simply give zero fucks that my hands will smell like garlic for a little while
>>
I feel you, OP. It's one of the things I hate doing the most.
>>21631285
I use that method but results vary.

Your issues with garlic sound more like OCD than anon providing a simple solution to what you yourself identified as a problem. So your fingers smell like garlic for a few hours, of dead god help us all! What a faggot you are.
>>
>>21630800
>chop garlic
>go to bed
>hands smell tasty
>nice
>>
>>21630800
Why are you using garlic if you don't like the smell?
>>
>>21630800
>The smell of fresh garlic sticks to your hands and home for days

wash your hands.

>break number of bulbs from head of garlic
>cut off root end of bulk
>if not crushing with a press crush lightly under side of knife to loosen skin, remove skin easily and cut or whatever
>wash hands afterwards
>if crushing with a press leave skin on, put in press, crush remove 90% of residue with skin left in crusher
>rinse crusher right after

The issues with getting it all over your hands is fucking up the peeling or crushing peeled bulbs and having to fuck around getting the bits out of the crusher afterwards. And the knife-crushing step might seem like a meme but it really does help with peeling.

smash it with a big knife to get the skin off and put it in an herb grinder. ezpz.
You can buy grinders that are specifically made for garlic, but any should work.
Also, only use said grinder for garlic. Put your weed in something else.

First useful reply in the thread. The only thing worrisome is the "freshness" of this. If i ever get pre-packaged garlic i might aswell get garlic powder.
