Long John Silver’s is putting chicken on center stage.

The seafood chain is swapping its classic fish logo for a chicken, along with a “Chicken + Seafood” tagline right below it. The redesign was rolled out across digital platforms and will be unveiled on the Long John Silver’s Front Row Motorsports car during an upcoming NASCAR Cup Series race. In the next few months, Long John Silver’s will launch the branding across other properties and materials.

John Silver is the biggest sellout of all time

What went so wrong?

Are fish and chips just not popular enough? Is fish too expensive for the midwest parts of the chain?
>>

the fish industry is morally bankrupt

I once ate a whole fish plank thinking it was chicken the whole time

A most horrible example of an “executive committee” decision. Their end is near.

Doesn't effect me because they all closed down in my city except for one in the no go zone. Sad, their fish and chicken batter is amazing and I loved a frosty mug. Everything good goes away in this cursed earth.

>they all closed down in my city
The only LJS I've seen in the last 15 years was one of those little cucksteraunts where they combined LJS with a more successful brand in one store (Taco Bell I think).

Fish and seafood is a lot more difficult to do than chicken because they go fast really quickly. The suits and MBA types hate seafood
>>
Well the chicken tenders and wings are hugely popular. Fried fish is really awful if you mess it up which they usually do. People will put up with shitty chicken though for some reason.
>>
Further proof, as I always say, fish and chips (esp with a bunch of disgusting vinegar on them) is not a thing in America and will never be a thing
The last gasp of fish and chips in America was Long John Silver's, and now they focus on chicken
>>
>oversaturated market with chicken
>lets do more chicken
smart

I remember they had a spicy grouper sandwich that was pretty good. Don't know if they have it anymore.

Be careful, Captain Deez Nutz was notoriously one of the places where a certain disgraced /ck/ tripfag would cruise for teenage boys before he tried arranging "meetups".

When I was up in Washington they had Ivars which is actually pretty good.

Fast food seafood is just something seemingly no one wants.
Not that it cannot sell at grocery stores but no one wants it in a chain format. Both this and Red Lobster among the minnows that fully died out
>>

The problem is seafood just sucks if you don't live on the coast. It's too expensive and you generally don't get the good stuff. I think people would want it if it was sold at a reasonable price and good quality.
But every long johns I've seen has been in the most ghetto part of town and I don't have to tell you what the inside was like.
I would kill for a nice fish and chip shop like the brits have.

the problem is that working business models are extended far beyond their legitimate means.
"so why don't franchises focus specifically on maintenance instead of untenable growth?" i hear you muse aloud.
my dear sweet summer child, you can't sell a fully functioning prudent company to private equities! no, no no. you must push past all logic and create a glass knife, and with it you must kill god.

Anyone remember when Taco Bell had shrimp tacos back in like 2012?

We have a KFC that did this and added Long John Silver's. My family would usually just get KFC and maybe an order of the hish puppies.

I have never seen a Long Johns outside of nog infested areas, so makes sense they are catering to their location demographics. I also know that nog infested areas have a plethora of chicken options, so they are also probably fucked. Furthermore....catering to nogs...not even once.
>>
>>21638320
The specific problem is nogs. Nogs believe that seafood in general is "luxury".
>Weez gonna take da senpai to gets dat lobsta and shreemps
Nogs view Red Lobster like I would view a dinner out at St. Elmos or somewhere that has a Michelin Star. Now they can't even get that right because they insist on fucking boil bags like the 9000 other places that cater to boil bags nogs. How is that average nog going to feel upscale now?
