Does /ck/ like celery? I don't know what happened, I used to hate it when I was younger. But now I can eat a whole bag of this shit and it's nice and crunchy and tastes so good. Apparently it has chemical compounds that give it a similar flavor to MSG.
try lovage
I like dipping it in ranch i make or curing bacon with it cause it has ungodly amounts of sodium nitrate
>>21638165It's mediocre when fresh. Great for soups, though.
>>21638165I don't really eat it on its own, but as a component in mirepoix for soups and stuff, it's essential.

>>21638165One of my stir-fry regulars
>>21638165Didn't love it raw when I was young, but never hated it. As an adult I've only used it cooked, haven't tasted it raw in years.
>>21638165Definitely used to hate it when I was younger because it was mostly flavorless and the stringy texture was annoying to chew. I've never bothered trying it as an adult but I guess I'll give it a go
>>21638165>Apparently it has chemical compounds that give it a similar flavor to MSGCelery has nitrates which is why they use celery powder in uncured bacon to replace synthetic sodium nitrite. And the celery powder could be just as bad as synthetic nitrite; but whole celery is okay because its not concentrated like the powdered form.Celery with peanut butter is great btw.
>>21638774>Celery with peanut butter is greaThis. I didn't believe it before i tried, but it is
>>21638756it’s commonly served alongside chicken wings try eating it like that
ants on a log anyone?
>>21638786Nice try Schwab. I will never eat ze bugs
Not really. But I like celeriac for fermentation and for stews.
>>21638812no you goof!i speak of a delicacy, not ze bugs
>>21638165Essential ingredient in chicken soup.
leeks are better in every way
>>21638854You eat leeks raw with peanut butter on them? How's that treat you?
>>21638854why would you compare the two? they're not similar at all
>>2163816599% of it i have had isnt fresh so it tastes pretty bland. But I got extremely lucky and had a fresh few stalks, had it with ranch and buffalo wings and it was like gods gift to earth. I get why people like it now. It was so pure and sweet but it was still fresh and crunchy. Wish I could have that kind of quality I would eat it every day but it doesnt matter if you buy it organic or whatever, its just some stuff ends up sitting in stores waiting to get sold and if its not fresh its not good
>>21638822Top tier snack
>>21638784Oh yeah, I actually did have some in that context recently. I thought it was boring, the stringiness was as bad as I remember, and wouldn't have eaten it again. But I'm going to try cooking it to see if that changes things.
