Can't buy this shit any more. Can't buy any packaged snack cake type stuff now. It's all so bad.
All of it leaves a weird film inside my mouth.
Does anyone know what ingredient causes that? What should I be checking for?

Bro just stop
>>
>>21641353
I'm literally eating one from a box I bought yesterday and it's miserable. They weren't like this before.
>>
>>21641356
The other guy got "classic", maybe it's diff? Haven't had this since childhood so dunno
>>
>>21641361
It's all of their boxes, not just this variety. Hostess and Little Debbie snacks do it too.
>>
>>21641356
It's your body telling you to stop being such a fat fuck.
>>
>>21641340
>All of it leaves a weird film inside my mouth.
yeah trans fats were banned in 2018, and ever since then, companies have been scrambling to replace them with other fats that stay semi-solid at room temperature.
A lot of the time you'll see something like "Partially Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil" but whatever it is, the texture is not all there yet. Like you said, it leaves a weird film, especially the chocolate.
>>
>>21641356
It's when the gubbermint made them switch from trans fats to whatever non hydrogenated bullshiggery they use now. The fat is 'dry' now, it leaves a film in ur mouf.

Everyone likes donuts.

>>21641367
>>21641369
That fuckin sucks. Maybe the stuff directly from the grocery store's bakery is different. I remember the donuts being decent.
>>
>>21641340
I'm assuming you haven't eaten them all. Rinse your mouth and eat the donuts, but only the insides. Do one donut at a time. Tell us if there's still the film on it. At least narrow out the glaze as the culprit.
>>
>>21641373
>That fuckin sucks. Maybe the stuff directly from the grocery store's bakery is different. I remember the donuts being decent.
Yeah bakeries still use regular butter and oil because they don't need to keep a product shelf stable for 9 months while it gets shipped to the other side of the globe.
>>
>>21641379
I brush my teeth and use mouthwash twice a day. It's happened with unglazed cake donuts, as well as the ones covered in powdered sugar. I fucking love donuts.

>>21641389
Good point. Guess I'm buyin those next.
>>
Yeah, everything in a package is poison.
>>
>>21641367
I'm not disputing this, but shrinkflation has been going on for at least 20 years longer than that, when Nabisco ruined my favorite childhood cookie. And you can't blame it on nostalgia, I was still a kid when it went from great to gross.

You can't trust any corporate, but especially ones with a "kosher" satanic rune on the packaging, like those ((Entenmann's)) goynuts.
>>

>when Nabisco ruined my favorite childhood cookie
what cookie is that

Nice try FBI, I always clear my cookies.

I did not think about that. Every time I have eaten ultra processed sweet snacks lately they have all tasted off-putting to me and I thought it was just my taste buds changing with age.
>>
>>21641340
looks like they're ready to settle down

>I did not think about that. Every time I have eaten ultra processed sweet snacks lately they have all tasted off-putting to me and I thought it was just my taste buds changing with age.

It's not just you. All shelf stable "snack cake" type foods are trash now.
>>
>>21641504
We truly had one of the best childhoods. I'd do a lot to go back in time and eat a 1999 Twinkie.
>>
>>21641340
Where can I buy a pack of just the donuts that are covered in sugary genital warts?
>>
>>21641522
Ask your mother. She'll probably share hers with you.
>>
>>21641340
I noticed it last month when I picked up a box
it's worse than crisco
is it palm oil that gives that line your mouth with grease feel?
it's part of the reason I just come up with something sweet to make at home every week

>and I thought it was just my taste buds changing with age.

your taste buds dont change with age, thats a meme to make you accept all the poison they put into your food. In reality, your taste buds adept to whatever is available, it usually takes 2-3 weeks of consumption to achieve this. You dont like little kid food anymore, because you stopped eatting it. And you dont really like the new shit, because you havent adepted to it yet.

ever since covid + warin ukraine, these faggot companies have been clandestingly switching out ingredients every so often based on whatever is cheapest/available and occasionally you get disgusting slop thats worse than before. just stop buying it, you never know whats in it because during covid many countries made new regulations that companies DONT have to update their labelling because supply shortages or some bullshit but haha what acoincidence those rules were never revoked after the crisis 'ended'.
>>
>>21641760
there is more palm oil than canola
like another anon said above
all the cheap shit is like this these days
it sucks that I can't even buy a box of little debbie w/o some of them sitting for months, and it's not me

I actually have a bottle of vegetable glycerin in my room that I use (no not jacking off...). I just put a bunch in my mouth now.

Immediately when it hits the tongue, it becomes a seriously warm sensation. Not spicy, but it's as if it's heated, have zero clue why. It's also quite fairly sweet tasting. I coated my entire mouth with it, then swallowed. Initially, it did leave a slight sticky coating, but it went away super quick. None of this is surprising to me - glycerin is initially a viscous liquid, but it's also water soluble.

Wtv is lining your mouth with grease, I doubt it's the glycerin since basic eating and swallowing with saliva would dissolve it away. It'd put more bet on the shortening or oil than glycerin. I am sort of surprised though that the shortening and oil assumingly properly emulsified with the water (with all those gums and starches ingredients) would leave a greasy feel, if they are the culprit. Are they using way too much fat to make the donuts more shelf stable?

How the FUCK is the government against TRANS and the right hasn't protested this travesty? Ruined my junk food for reals. Fuck big givernment!
>>
>>21641340
It's the wax in the chocolate coating.
>>
>>21641850
>glycerin generates heat when dissolved in water...
Huh, nice to know
>>
>>21641760
Definitely the palm oil, the Great Value knockoff Popeye’s biscuits are bad about this when they cool off because of palm oil.

If you want to avoid the mouthfeel temporarily then heat the donuts up a little in the microwave (or even better is slice them in half and toast them in a pan)
>>
if you want donuts or other baked goods go to a bakery. things like this should be a special treat and you shouldn't buy prepackaged bullshit versions of them
>>
>>21641340
>What should I be checking for?
balls to see if you are still a man.
>>
>>21641340
I know exactly what you mean about the film, it’s like waxy and you can feel it in between your tongue and the roof of your mouth

Bought a box of these at some point after having them regularly as a kid. It's the chocolate ones in particular. They used to have a very thin layer of semi sweet chocolate. Now it's a thicker layer and doesn't taste nearly as good. It might be a regional thing as I had moved and Franz dominates this region instead.
>>
companies have switched to cheaper ingredients. They don't taste as good, but the shareholders get more money, which is the only thing they care about
>>
>>21641760
It's the vegetable shortening. It melts at a temperature higher than your body temp, so the fat stays solid in your mouth and leaves that coating.
>>
>>21642153
>Shortening typically melts between 111°F and 122°F (44°C - 50°C); margarine between 91°F and 109°F (33°C - 43°C); butter between 90°F and 95°F (32°C - 35°C); and natural non-hydrogenated coconut oil at about 76°F (24°C), though its melting point will be closer 97°F to 104°F (36°C - 40°C) if the oil is hydrogenated.
