In order to destroy their domestic farming capability. Their farms fail because they cannot possibly compete with the free food the west provides, leading to a vicious cycle where they don't have enough food, the west sends aid, more farms fail, they have less food, repeat.

This is especially helpful for the US since our farmland is massively overproductive, and the government has a hard time figuring out wtf to even do with all the food produced. They're already on the hook buying shitloads of corn to turn into ethanol and shoving cheese into caves, and loads of other bullshit, and the other option is just saying "fuck it" and let US farms crash food prices globally, which will make our farms suffer and potentially cause a recession. Way better to keep a perpetual problem on the backburner so they can keep solving it forever and earn some soft power in Africa in the process, maybe negotiate for some mineral rights while we're at it.

I mean, it's kinda fucked up but I'd rather it be fucked up in Africa than here.

They deserve it for making their fried bananas look like chicken wings. Fuckers get me every time. Disgusting.

bro. And now repeating it again.
>>
>>21642191
lol this. Growing up, all you heard was africans are starving and USA for Africa, and We Are the World and "for the price of a cup of coffee a day, you too can...". Now, they apparently have superior cuisine.

Zimbabwe is just one country in Africa. Yes, it is quite fucked because of a retard communist racist taking control. I do not dispute that.

>handful of African countries buck the trend and are actually capable of feeding themselves and more
>nope can't have that, you're embargoed Rhodesia
>South Africa you need to end apartheid and fuck your shit up or else
Even when it's entirely their fault, there is still US meddling that enabled this state of affairs.

one can have a tradition of cooking good food but experience periods in which food is extremely scarce. this should not be difficult to understand.
>>

>an entire continent deserves to live in poverty because i mistook a banana for chicken one time
you sound like a mentally stable person
>>
>>21642037
Yes it is yummy but I can't eat spicy foods anymore as they set off my IBS or whatever is wrong with my digestion
>>
>>21642037
I live with Ghanaians who make trad food but I've only ever tried jollof from them
>>

Likewise.

>>21642189
fun fact: many of the ingredients to this stew aren't native to africa. interesting right?
>>
>>21643511
i'm sure there are native equivalents to most of the ingredients that would've been used in similar ways if you really wanted to keep it authentic i guess
>>
>>21643528
native equivalents are probably shit if they exist at all. probably worse flavors to say the least

Interesting answer. Is this also reason the African population has exploded since the 60s? Didn't the green revolution and scientists genetically modifying crops to be super productive also play a huge role? I think I read that in a Michael Pollan or simliar food author's book.

>Is this also reason the African population has exploded since the 60s?
That is indeed a direct result of greater food availability.
>Didn't the green revolution and scientists genetically modifying crops to be super productive also play a huge role? I think I read that in a Michael Pollan or simliar food author's book.
I imagine that is also a major factor.

One time I was marching in a parade down my hometown main street in like 2004 and none of us been downtown in like years and we were pointing at stuff and waving to people and I pointed out a new restaurant that said Ethiopian cuisine. I said "Ethiopian food? I didn't know they had food". I swear everyone lost their shit. Those times come around like twice in your life and it doesn't sound that funny now but back then when we weren't all desensitized internet users people had hearty laughs like that.

Damn, I haven't actually laughed in at least eight years.

Some of it. Doro Wat is pretty great (picrel) but some of it sucks. Some of it is awesome. It's like asking if you like "asian" food, but yes, generally I like it.
>>
>>21642243
A huge amount of Western aid goes into providing free shit for farmers without regular access to food aid and it still fails.
>>
Its very good, but it definitely has its own quirks. My wife (Cameroonian) makes it every once in awhile and a big point for her family was that you would only eat old animals. You wanted food that had "bite" or could be chewy or tough by our standards because the animal has lived a full life, which of course contrasts with how much western cooking likes food that is very tender. The cuts can also be very cheap, since several dishes use tripe, cow skin, or other ingredients that aren't your traditional cuts of beef.

>>21642037
Didn't know they had any

I remember trying "African" food from some black immigrant lady. It was just a shitload of beans in some kind of chili paste. It was fine, but very boring. If that's actually African food then I'm not a huge fan.
>>
>>21642037
No, I like eating

I went to a Benin(ese?) wedding once.

Rice with chicken and fish heads. Side of peas and vegetables with a kind of sauce or gravy. No complaints it was all good
>>
>>21644187
Most African food is some bastardization of european or middle eastern food. It's very difficult to find good african food
