I have an autistic love for popcorn and want to know how /ck/ makes their popcorn.I use coconut oil, butter extract oil, heated in a cast iron pot, toss in the kernels, and once it’s popped, shake Flavacol into the bowl.Anyone else love popcorn as a comfy snack?
I do similar. Shitty veg oil (just nought butter flavored coconut oil, though), real butter and flavacol in my whirlypop. Then, when it's finished, I put little batches into a big bowl, pour a little melted butter and sprinkle flavacol, repeat until the whole batch is run through.I've only used the coconut oil a couple of times.
>Put desired oil in preheated pot>Add a quarter cup of kernels>Stir until they start to pop>Put lid on and shake every few seconds until popping subsides>Pour popcorn in bowl>Allow pot to cool a bit>Add butter and melt, turn heat on if pot has cooled too much>Return popcorn to pot and season with salt>Put lid on and shake the shit out of itWala.
Nordic Ware microwave bowl. Nuke it for 3 minutes. No butter or seasoning.
>>21642228>I use coconut oil, butter extract oil, heated in a cast iron pot, toss in the kernels, and once it’s popped, shake Flavacol into the bowl.Sounds nasty.>>21642246>Then, when it's finished, I put little batches into a big bowl, pour a little melted butter and sprinkle flavacol, repeat until the whole batch is run through.Mein Gott. Just put it in a mixing bowl or some other large bowl, add a portion of the butter and salt, toss it, then repeat until you're done seasoning it.Why do you fags use that Flavacol shit? Use butter and table salt.
>>21642228I keep mine minimal for health reasons only. Ideally I'd use some ghee or wtv for flavor, but salt is enough for me. Cooking is basically the same in the cast iron pot with a layer of oil and kernels at the bottom. During the wait, I grind up salt into a powder, then sprinkle over in the end, and give it a shake to spread around.
>>21642423?? Butter has water in it, it'd make the popcorn soggy. Table salt won't adhere to stuff unless it's doused in liquid. You saying yours turns out like theater popcorn or something?
>>21642423Flavacol is just flour-ground salt with a bit of butter flavour, anon. It’s mostly just for the fineness to stick to the popcorn.
>>21642405>nuke itPlease don’t use that word.
>>21642444Sorry, Hiroshimoot.
>>21642228cook with lots of coconut oil in a pot. shake often. put garlic salt on top, sometimes nutritional yeast. occasionally sprinkle cider vinegar on but my wife can't stand that shit cos it makes them soggy.
i make salted caramel and mix in the popcorn then put it in the fridge til it's crispfucking delicious, and it's actually super healthy. incidentally i gain 5lbs every time i make a bowl. probably muscle.
>>21642228Suet. Trust me.
I wish we had "SUPER OUT THE ASS SO BUTTERY YOU'LL PUNCH YOUR DAD" microwave popcorn in Germany like in the states.Only place to get any butter is the cinema and even that is kinda eh. Best in that direction you get for the microwave is plain salty.
>>21642228Amish brand mushroom kernels, Wok with a lid3 tbsp refined coconut oil,Powdered salt1/3-1/2 cup of kernelsGet salt and oil smoking hot, kernels in, lid on. Shake and stir, and the mushroom popcorn needs the really high heat for full mushroom poppification. For topping its cheddar powder, butter, or one of those slop butter oils that tastes so damn good.
