ARE THESE ACCEPTABLESTARTING COMMERCIAL COOKING SCHOOL
>>21642436>not crocs brand crocs
Your feet are going to stay sweaty and they'll get really stinky from the bacteria.
THEY WILL SUCK ASSWHEN YOU SPILL OIL OR BOILING WATER, YOU NEED TO GET THAT SHIT OFF, FAST, SO YOU CAN LOSE A FOOT TO DIABETES AT 40 LIKE A NORMAL PERSON RATHER THAN TO IT BEING POACHED AT 25EVEN IF YOU AND EVERY RANDOM STONED ASSHOLE STANDING NEAR YOU EVER SPILLS OIL, KITCHENS ARE STILL FUCKING HOTGET THE SLIP-ONS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE
>>21642436Military boots? Are you in the military?
>>21642448pussy>>21642449nerddont let any of these beta faggots parasitize your Alpha Glow OP
>>21642448And that’s a good thing!
>>21642436No laces are not acceptable whatsoever if spill anything or kick up food particles and they end up on your laces it's harder to clean than just regular slip on nonslipsDon't do it anon
>>21642436those are good if you plan to cook your feet, too. they are on demand these days so that may be an advantage on the menu
>>21642453Of course, OP is about to leave civilian life behind forever. I still remember my first tour in the sandbox (McDonalds, the Playplace had a sandbox).... the rigors of basic training, which took almost 30 minutes..... I learned to answer only "YES CHEF" and "NO CHEF"...... the horrors of having to arrive for work on time, nominally sober, with only 30 minutes each hour to play on my phone and vape weed out back...... it was the worst two weeks of my life, but also the best, and my brothers in arms are still livelong friends. Each of my service tattoos tells a different story, like this rat, which serves as a reminder of the time that a rat fell into the deep fryer and I didn't tell anyone for a week.My experience was especially gruesome because I was an Operator (microwave operator). Sometimes I wake up with nightmares of those times when my squad was under fire (a customer walked in 45 minutes before closing and asked us to microwave some sysco slop)..... but I think about that rat, how I remained frosty in the face of a health code violation, and it seems to help.
>>21642453Those aren't military boots
>>21642489>OP leaving civvie life... godspeed>reminds me of my first tour in the sandbox (McDonald’s PlayPlace sandbox)>basic training was hell, took like 30 minutes>learned to say “YES CHEF” and “NO CHEF” only>had to show up on time, mostly sober>only got 30 minutes of phone + vape break per hour>the worst 2 weeks of my life>also the best>still tight with my brothers-in-grease>every tattoo tells a story>this rat? reminds me of the fryer incident>he fell in, I said nothing>for a week>I was an Operator (microwave division)>still have flashbacks of being under fire>customer walked in 45 mins before close>wanted microwave slop>I stayed frosty, like the rat would've wanted
>>21642436nope.those aren't non-slip.
Reminder there could be far fewer accidents and far faster food prep if kitchens were built around swivel chairs set at reasonable distances from one another.
>>21642436if you need the ankle support and these are non slip you could go for it. Personally I have always been more of a clogs guy
>>21642489Fuckin kek
>>21642707Fuck off chatgpt
>>21642436No, get some nonslip sneakers or something. Unless you're working on a navy ship or industrial plant there's no reason to wear boots
>>21642689Those are military boots
>>21642436I know a CIA grad who unfortunately returned to college and changed careers after a dropped beer keg crushed toes on the job. So, the point of work shoes is that you can and will carry heavy pots and such, and you need a steel toe, non-slip grippy sales for wet and greasy floors, and will definitely need to take care of feet for all day standing. Personally, I'd own 2 pairs of shoes, and removable insoles, and alternate them every other day to allow them to fully dry out. You'll want cushioned wool based breathable socks, like smartwool, and maybe a change of socks each day too. Protip, never spend money on tattoos before dental care and medical care. Your health is #1 and insurance, as well as workman's comp one day is crucial. My favorite end-of-day brands are Oofos, HOKA and On. No idea if they offer work versions. They are popular in hospitals, though.
I worked at a place where the most famous thing was fried chicken (halves or fourths). The owners were adamant about wearing unsecured slippers (kitchen grade), just to be able to throw off real quick.
>>21642489I shed a tear. God bless you and thank you for your service.
I rock Oakley Field Assaults in my kitchen.Definitely Need to be careful when floors are hot of Water, never make any movement without all ten toes touching the floor and you'll be Gucci Poochie.
>>21642436Do they have slip resistant soles? If no, you will take a ride everyday.
>>21642436I rocked some cheap Walmart non slips for the first ten years of my career, until my feet started hurting like crazy every day. Bought some shoes from orthofeet a couple of weeks ago, and I already feel much better. You should be worried less about dropping something on your feet, and worry more about not slipping, and comfort and ergonomics, you spend a lot of time on your feet, on hard concrete or tile, hours on end without any real breaks.>>21642900This shit is so damn rare, I've never seen it or heard of it happening, and I've seen and experienced just about every kitchen injury. If you drop something heavy or sharp, just jump back lol get good, have some reflexes and stuff loser lmao but seriously, I don't think steel toes are super necessary.Unless by commercial cooking, you mean, like, a factory or something with a lot of production
>>21642893Maybe in eastern europe
kitchen shoes need to be three things>non-slip, obviously. Some shoes are more non-slip than other shoes, you just have to try different brands if you aren't satisfied with what you get.>all black, every dress code under the sun wants them to be all black, I don't know why they even bother making them in other colors, I've seen someone get sent home because their new shoes had dark grey soles, it was stupid>comfortable as fuck because you're going to be walking on them all dayeverything else comes down to preference. If you're working around hot shit it's nice to be able to pull them off real fast in case you pour boiling milk into your shoes or something, but loosening your shoelaces works just as well as buying slip-ons.
>>21642436In my 10 years as a chef I have always worn boots. Hiking boots, military surplus, police boots, steel toe, and specific "non slip" ones, as well as doc martens and blundstones. The blundstones are the best compromise between safety and comfort.I've never told anyone that wears them this but croc cucks look so stupid and the fear that a giant bucket of hot oil is going to pour into your boot at the ankle is totally irrational. Boots will keep your socks dry when walking through a flooded floor (something that actually does happen) and you can wear them too and from work if you ever get an agency job or go freelance (and so do not leave your shoes at work permanently). Furthermore, they can be repaired. Croc cucks also seem to need a new pair very frequently, but every time I've retired boots it's because I wanted a style change and donated my old ones or kept them in the wardrobe for other purposes (gardening, hiking, muddy festivals etc).In conclusion my fav kitchen boots:1. Pull on Blundstones2. Miltec side zip police boots3. Karimoor mid rise hiking boots
>>21642436Just wear the fucking crocs or berkies if your a woman Anon.
If you're going to do any baking, they also need to be disposable
>>21642445I like how he got the orange ones like they issue at jail. He looks like he takes it in the ass so I guess it makes sense
have sex.
>>21643154>I've seen someone get sent home because their new shoes had dark grey soles, it was stupidThat place must not have done much business if they can afford to send someone home for such a retarded reason
>>21642900must have been a big keg
i feel like i need cool boots so a woman will like me and have sex with methey don't want a man in crocs, new balance, or socks and sandals
>>21643576Make sure you have a 5-minute rant about epicanthal folds ready at all times too she'll be drenched for sure
>>21643576Yeah dude, I'm sure that the millionaire entrepreneur in crocs will be totally jealous of all the babes that a fry cook in combat boots is getting.
I was going to mock this thread in my usual fashion, but then I remember dropping a knife on the floor and realising if it went into my foot it would've gone through and out the other end.
>>21643338Didn't Docs completely sell out 25 years ago? Good luck with your Chinese trash, "punk", it's as cheaply manufactured as the rest of your identity,
I wear red wings in my restaurant kitchen.Non slip, water proof to the ankle, steel laces, hardend toe boxlove em
>>21642436If they're nonslip/slip resistant, yes. Otherwise, no.>>21642449If you've spilled enough hot oil/water on your shoes to burn your feet through work boots, your feet are fucked regardless. Plus dropping heavy objects happens far more often in a kitchen than hot spills of that magnitude, so I'd much rather have composite toes and thick leather than a weak rubber sandal which will fold the second anything heavier than a teacup plate lands on it.
https://www.amazon.com/Crocs-Unisex-Adult-Bistro-Clogs-Resistant/dp/B000ZP9PUG?th=1&psc=1no holes and non slip bottom
>>21642449>>21644332Also personally I would never want to stand for 8-10 hours in shoes without any ankle support, I'd be limping the next day for sure.
>>21644311How much do these cost? I need a replacement for my ancient kitchen boots, and the steel laces sound convenient.
>>21644340They're expensive 200+had mine for about 4 yearsCalled Redwing Tradesmens
>>21642436Not really, anon. If you ever want to be a pro chef, you need to level up. Picrel is what Gordon Ramsay wears.
