How does it fare against other beers?
>>
>>21648209
Likely the only stout at a random pub so it wins by default. Any non-coffee stout is better though
Their extra/foreign stout is pretty good though. Samuel Smith is tip top tier
>>
>>21648209
About the same as any other beer, or any other ethanol-containing beverage: a mistake.
>>
>>21648209
The regular one is one of the worst of the common stouts, but the extra stout version is pretty good.
>>
I like it. It's genuinely pretty pleasant to drink
Gives great shits too

Here, let me help you, seeing how English might not be your first language:
>No
This is a negation, telling you that what you said is incorrect.
>try again
This, combined with the previous negation, is to say that you should attempt a different tactic and see if it sticks.
Since you repeated yourself, I'll do the same, hoping that the meaning of the three-word response won't be lost on you: No, try again.

They're fine of you get them on tap. Nothing special but they're not bad. Pretty good gateway beer to heavier stouts or porters.
>>
>>21648209
for me it's hands down best beer I've had on tap, I've had craft porter on tap and it was kind of better, but idk, I'd rather go to the irish pub than to the craft beer scammer

Perfectly drinkable but about as flavourless as a stout gets. I only drink it when the bar is depressingly shit and there's no other good beers on
>>
>>21648588
damn, for me guiness is top tier, what do you like having the most in the tap beer department?
>>
>>21648588
it's weak flavour and low weight just doesn't match its colour at all. it's not garbage-tier by any means, but it's got some explaining to do.

I agree with everything this anon says

I'm a bong so if I go to a decent pub they'll usually have a few cask ales available, Titanic brewery do some amazing stouts and porters for example
Also not much of a Brewdog fan but they released a nitro stout to compete with Guinness a while ago called Black Heart and it honestly mogs the shit out of Guinness imo

not that anon, but I think it's fair to say that Guinness is between a rock and a hard place. it's got a very old and successful recipe, but it's absolutely not able to change or innovate.

yes, we can all enjoy watery 250yr old Guinness for what it is, but actually we've come a long way and can also do more interesting things with brewing

you're lucky to having something that tops guiness, cherish it

I can go to a craft beer brewery and have something better, but damn those prices...

I mainly drink local.
>>
>>21648623
as you should. some people are also local to Guinness. poor cunts though.
>>
>>21648209
It's ok, it's one of the "lightest" and mildest widely available stouts so it's good if that's what you want. The meme about "hurrr you can only get a proper pint in Ireland" does seem to be true as everywhere seems to not pull it right or have dirty lines or something and it often ends up tasting like beer mats. The bottled export version is nicer if you actually like stout
>>
>>21648607
The "current" recipe or at least the "delivery method" is only about 50 years at the oldest. It's only relatively recently been a creamy stout and the original version is the "extra" that comes in bottles
>>
>>21648641
>The meme about "hurrr you can only get a proper pint in Ireland" does seem to be true
I was waiting for someone to say this, it's a complete loads of trash and often spoken by people who have never been to Ireland or the Irish themselves that have never been abroad.
>>
guinness is alright but people who identify as gunness drinkers are wankers
very snobbish culture around it
they invent a load of imaginary rules in their head about what makes a "good guinness" and get upset at the barman if he deviates even slightly from that
even though once it's poured it all tastes the same

murphys is nicer anyway
>>
>>21648249
very true
>>
>>21648650
>>21648641
I've had guiness in the same exact pub a few times, during summer it was packed, during winter empty, and that's when I learned the hard way that the beer must be fresh, a non fresh guiness is a product that I straight up don't want at all
>>
>>21648641
>>21648751
you are the person i'm talking about here >>21648709

>>21648650
true when i went to ireland it was mostly murphys or beamish, guinness pubs were in the minority
>>
>>21648767
well brub I'm merely stating my observations

Love my Guinness, enjoy a Murphys but Beamish get the win every day of the week, it has a strong roasted coffee hit and hint of chocolate. Its so tasty and too easy to drink. Also love a pint of Caffreys but never see that ale about in the north anymore.
>>
>>21648650
It's not just outside Ireland though that's the "meme", but it does seem to be a matter of freshness (possibly a transport issue, though I've even noticed Heineken tastes like bananas when it's off too). I've had horrible Guinness in shit pubs in Ireland (but it's usually the go to stout so it tends to be fresh enough just due to high turnover)
>>
>>21648650
It's absolutely true.

Guinness at the brewery in Dublin is essentially a different beer.
>>
>>21648209
Its pretty great as long as it hasnt gone bad or some wagie left it out of the fridge.

I basically stopped drinking after 2014, with maybe 1 here or there on thanksgiving or something. Bought a 6 pack of guiness and some 16oz PBRs last month. My body obv lost all tolerance so 2 of them and I had a nice buzz for a bit. I missed the flavor, guiness is so tasty.
>>
>>21648209
Guinness is a total meme drink, not saying it tastes bad, but people love it because of what they think it represents and that's cringe. You'll never see these retards drink other stouts or porters.
>>21648709
based

>>21648209
Standard one is the most dissapointing beer I ever had, tasted very weak and vaguely metallic. I would have enjoyed it though had my expectations been lower.
There is an 8% export version but I havent' tasted that one yet.
I would actually love to taste a proper British/Irish stout but I cannot find any in my country.
