i never had a george foreman grill
>>
I think there's one at the salvos store up the road for like $5
>>

It's like owning an air fryer.
It's an appliance that, if you don't already have the real one, it's an okay substitute
>>
I had a roommate use one without the grease dish on the counter, he would position it to dump grease direcrlt down the sink.

Yes it was a rental.
>>
>>21653009
They're pretty alright for what they claim to do. I had one in college to grill burgers and whatever and I was a 1 man cook in my dorm. If you have an apartment they're a kinda okay substitute for a grill, because you can do burgers and dogs and whatever on it, but thats about it.

For how much people meme on it, there aren't really any downsides to it.
>>
They're okay for when you don't want to fire up a traditional pit. You just won't get a nice maillard reaction though, something even a propane grill can provide.

It's nice to use once and then never again.
>>
I saved the grease from whatever I cooked on it a jar. It was super grease from many different proteins and made everything I fried extra tasty.
>>

My issue with the grills was that they were good for single people, but if you're cooking for friends or family, it's a hassle
>>
They don't last more than a year or two.

the burnt on bits wont come off unless you scrub it, but the problem is that when you scrub it, the non-stick coating scrubs off too.

They're basically the distilled Final Form of boomer "as seen on TV" food devices:
>fat makes you fat
>teflon isn't literal fucking poison
Go visit Walmart, particularly the handicapped parking spaces for the dudes in spotless lifted F-150 SuperDuty King Ranches falling out of their seats into mobility scooters, and tell me how that's working out.

>They're basically the distilled Final Form of boomer "as seen on TV" food devices:
I'd say Ninja took over that market
>>
>>21653016
dumping a small amount of grease like that is a non-issue
>>
>>21653233
Ninja is more of a millennial phenomenon, and they made some token effort to produce less harmful devices with glass cooking vessels, but in general yeah, the typical Ninja device is a scented candle for "PTFE Poison" and the average Ninja user owns 2.5 cuck chairs.
>>
>>21653009
Be glad you don't. They had issues with them being fire hazards. There are better products.
>>
>>21653009
I have one but I never use it
>>
I once hit a Cornish game hen with a mallet and cooked it in one of those in college.
>>
they belong in novelty grills.
>>
>>21653009
I recently dug one of these things out of my parents' basement because I was moving and needed an easy grilling thingy and it was free, they bought it back when they were first popular. It does okay with stuff that has lots of surface area, like it cooks a burger decently. Would not recommend for sausages, it takes forever. They're a bitch to clean too, I think some have removable grates but mine doesn't. Now that I have a real grill I probably won't use it anymore.
>>
>>21653540
Mine has removable grates.
>>
>>21653009
I had one of these things while dorm/apartment hopping in college since grilling wasn't an easy thing to do and I didn't always have a range to cook on.

It's an electric grill. It doesn't get hot enough like propane and charcoal, so it takes forever. Works well enough, and probably it's best use is as a panni press. Bitch to clean, you needed a special grate sponge to clean it.

Overall a meme device, ok for singles, and overall not worth it. It's far better to do smash burgers in a cast iron on a stovetop, and the cast iron will be cheaper.

Obviously be careful but I found the easiest way to clean them is once it’s heated up before putting meat on, you take a wet paper towel and wipe the hot plates. The steam + wiping seemed to get the plates clean when I had one.
>>
I pretty much only used them to make paninis, but a skillet is fine for toasting a sammie too
>>
>>21653237
YOU are no issue
>>
>>21653481
what are some good novelty grill recipes?
>>
>>21653009
Just used one to reheat some roast beef. Rice and gravy went in the microwave.
>>
>>21653014
air fryers are superior to deep fryers though. who wants to deal with the mess, cost and poor health of deep frying food

Just use this with your panini press
>>
>>21655066
Just because it has the word "fryer" in it doesn't mean you should compare a air fryer with a deep fryer, which is a separate appliance.
It's a tiny plastic oven
>>
>>21655082
why would i compare the air fryer to the oven when i already have a toaster oven
>>
>>21653009
Gimmick product. I remember them being alright for hot dogs but pretty shit from everything else.
>>
>>21653009
I used them in the barracks to cook plain chicken breast or brats

They are for poorfags, cooklets and college/military

GIMMICK PRODUCT?
>>
>>21655066
every somewhat recently made oven or toaster oven has a convection mode these days, Hell a lot of Microwaves have them, dedicated air fryers are a waste of space
>>
>>21653009
we have a really old bulky model. It's mainly used for melts and paninis. Works well. I'd rather use the stainless steel pan for everything else.
>>
>>21653009
I have one, not specifically Foreman, but some cheap one. I make sandwiches in it, tortilla rolls and bell peppers mostly. Made a steak in it once, wasn't great (mostly because I had no idea what I was doing).
DO NOT get one with non-removable plates, it's a BITCH to clean.
>>
>>21654233
This is the way to clean them. Do not use a dish sponge. Ask me how I know it melts and is impossible to remove after.
>>
>>21655157
Kill yourself you underage retard
>>
>>21653016
Not his problem.
>>
>>21653009
I did. Actually a nice thing to eat sam gyeop sal on
>>
>>21653009
we never had one either, my dad was racist
>>
>>21653009
>i never had a george foreman grill
consider yourself lucky. unless you like dry over cooked grey meat, there's no reason to own one.
>>
>>21653237
you'll find out.
>>
I had one and threw it away. It was a pain to clean and it took up too much space in my small kitchen.
>>
>>21653019
>I was a 1 man cook
most cooks are one man cooks
the women, however, are one woman cooks
