Keto is nonsense.
The only application it has is for people with epilepsy.
>>
>hey eat lots of saturated fats
>no, they won't give you heard disease, the doctors and scientists are totally lying
turns out science that has been settled for the last 70+ years was right all along
>>
>>21656417
Shouldn't you just balance fats while avoiding trans fats?
>>
>>21656554
a balance of omegas is good, but all the omegas are unsaturated. Saturated fats should be minimized as much as possible

>>
>>21656417
RCTs have tested that idea and disproven it. Saturated fat has no effect on total or cardiovascular mortality
>>

keto is retarded.. what's the purpose of it?
>>
>>21656616
Not a single blood relative in my family is bald except the ones born of my one uncle (married in) who is a baldo
My dad is in his early 70s and has a full head of grey hair. I'm not sure when he went grey because without hairloss to obsess over, it was hair colour and he started dying it when I was a younger kid. My guess? He started going grey around the time I did, just a few years after uni. Bitches love the young face+grey hair combo.
>>21656349
Does it? I know nothing about keto other than the fact that it's just silly. Why not just eat properly? Surely, having to avoid everyfuckingthing can't be pleasant to do.
>>

>causes rapid permanent hairloss even for women
Narrator: it doesn't.

You know. I was looking for information related to why I had headaches, and stumbled on a research paper and information about the true cause of heart disease and hardening of the arteries. your arteries get clogged not from eating fatty foods, but by having a diet that is chronically deficient in vitamin C. The study found that people who were eating the recommended minimum dose of C where not getting near enough. 30mg per day is the absolute minimum to prevent scurvy. it's not the minimum your body needs

Lack of vitamin C leads to micro fractures in your artery walls which causes plaque to build up. Over time this is what plugs your arteries

The minimum vitamin C that humans need to be healthy has never properly been determined, but it is somewhere between 500mg and 2000mg per day

I have seen a cardiologist for several years now, and they seem confused that I do not have heart disease despite being (formerly) very overweight. I take 500mg of C daily and have for about 20 years now. I also cut out almost all HFCS and sugar as I can. I eat as close to 2000 calories per day being very careful of portions. The thing I do NOT do is worry about how much meat and fat I eat

Since I got on my diet in early 2020 I lost 100lbs, and my cholesterol is now normal despite eating lots of fat and red meat. I exercise (bike ride) 1 to 2 times per day for 30 minutes during the winter as in the summer where I live only morons exercise outside

In the last 20 years I have had 2 angiograms and both came up with my arteries being squeaky clean.

I spoke with a cardiologist who did a sleep study on me and told her of diet and exercize routine and she agreed with me and reaffirmed my conclusions and also indicated that the leading cause of health and heart problems in the US is diabetes

STOP EATING SUGARS, honey, agave, table, HFCS, or fake ones. Humans never evolved to handle such easy access to one of the most harmful foods on the planet despite our brains needing it for power
>>
furthermore, humans cannot make vitamin C like many other animals can. the vitamin C levels in many animals blood is often 10 to 100 times the level in humans.

you can ignore me all you want but the single best thing you can do is take a lot of vitamin C as it cannot hurt you, and don't eat sugar, or eat as little as you possibly can.

hair loss in men is 90% related to testosterone levels and genetics.

in women it is related to disease and hygiene.

My wifes cousin is in her 70's and losing her hair. she supposedly never washes it because she believes she is part indian, and she thinks indians (feather not dot) never washed their hair (which is bullshit).

My sister recently was diagnosed with valley fever and almost died from it, the disease has caused her to lose her hair. she is being treated for the disease and her hair will grow back.

I have known many people who have done keto (men and women) NONE of them have lost their hair.

Yeah most people probably think this but it's gotten a bit extreme to where people are even saying fruit is bad for you because sugar. Or that milk is bad but cheese is fine because it has less sugar.

Hunter-gatherers have been seen in multiple different places today eating large amounts of honey and they were perfectly healthy. Athletes typically consume more sugar and are healthier.

There are various reasons as to why this could be. Some people say starch is actually the issue as some people don't digest it well, so people end up craving sugar but they eat junk food that has a lot of fat with it added hundreds of extra calories when someone just wanted the sugar. That there is some evidence of a link between obesity and poor digestion of starch. It could also be stress causing overeating, nutritional deficiencies, gut flora issues, a lot of different things.

At least for me I finally solved a lot of my issues by giving up starch and just having more sugar instead. I try to get it from fruit and milk as much as possible so I'm not just eating pure sugar but I'm not afraid of refined sugar either.

No it doesn't. You're just not getting enough collagen, magnesium, and potassium, and you don't have any glycogen to bind the water required to store these minerals.

Going on keto requires you to eat a balanced diet. You can't just eat ultraprocessed meats and expect it to work because you're technically not eating any carbs. That's where the whole clean keto vs dirty keto distinction comes in.
>>
>>21657950
From steroids maybe. Not from exercise and sugar. Athletes who don't take steroids are pretty much always healthier than the average person.

Keto works because it conditions your body to fat adapted metabolism.

It's only with a carb adapted metabolism you can become fat.
>>
>>21658495
>It's only with a carb adapted metabolism you can become fat.
No. If you eat nothing but fruit or starch you're not going to become fat. It's hard to get enough calories to gain weight that way. Carbs are less efficient at being converted to bodyfat. Even if you eat fat and carbs together with something like fruit and nuts you're not likely to gain a lot of weight either. Eating a lot of refined fat and refined carbs together is usually how you gain weight.
>>
>>21658505
>No. If you eat nothing but fruit or starch you're not going to become fat.
If you eat nothing but fruit and starch you'll die.

Keto works because low carbs means low insulin. Low insulin means low fat storage (lipogenesis).

Can you make a carb based diet work? Yes. But keto always works. You don't need to exercise.
>>
>>21658340
Nobody mentioned vegans. You can be a vegan and be on a keto diet.
>>
>>21658596
>If you eat nothing but fruit and starch you'll die.
Not for a while but yeah eventually you'll have major deficiencies. But even over short periods of time people just eating fruit or starch will lose weight. A doctor even put his overweight diabetic patients on a sugar/starch diet and they all ended up losing weight and improving their diabetes.

>Keto works because low carbs means low insulin. Low insulin means low fat storage (lipogenesis).
Keto works because it forces people to give up most junk foods. Cutting out a macronutrient means it's harder to gain weight. Saying it's due to insulin is ignoring that keto typically makes people consume less calories. But it's not impossible to gain weight on keto either.

Keto ends up causing various other issues too though because we do benefit from carbs for things like energy and hydration. Yeah your body can become fat adapted but it doesn't entirely make up for things like your body not hydrating as well without carbs.

>You don't need to exercise.
True. Exercise is good obviously but exercising to lose weight is a lot more effort than simply consuming less calories in the first place.
>>
>>21658340
>cults good if fat and ugly
>>
>>21659021
>Keto works because it forces people to give up most junk foods. Cutting out a macronutrient means it's harder to gain weight.
Fat has 9 kcal per gram, carbs 4 kcal per gram.

So your calorie argument doesn't make any sense. Especially since many report keep losing weight on keto despite eating an excess of 3,000 kcal a day.

>Keto ends up causing various other issues too though because we do benefit from carbs for things like energy and hydration.
It doesn't cause any hydration problems. You simply don't have glycogen in your muscles to store a lot of water. But as long as you hydrate properly it's not an issue.
>>
>>21656349
I'm already Norwood Nth, so if I could remove the last of my hair permanently and spare the maintenance I'd be happy.
>>
>>21659790
>calorie argument doesn't make any sense
People on low carb and low fat diets both typically lose weight. I'm not saying low fat diets are good otherwise, just that people who minimize fat and eat more carbs generally lose weight too. It's easier to overeat when you combine fat and carbs but just eating one or the other results in an overall calorie reduction. Like how much plain butter can you eat vs plain bread, and then compare that to how much bread and butter you can eat together.

>Especially since many report keep losing weight on keto despite eating an excess of 3,000 kcal a day.
It depends on various things. Like nuts are less digestible than refined oil, so 3k calories of nuts won't actually give you as much energy as 3k calories of refined oil. At least for me I don't digest animal fats outside of dairy as well so 3k calories of tallow wouldn't give me as much energy as 3k calories of refined oils either. But there are complaints of people being on keto and still gaining weight too. It's still possible to overeat especially with all the highly processed keto junk foods. Fat doesn't inherently make you fat but it's not magic either and consuming more than you burn will still cause weight gain. People on high carb/low fat diets say they eat as much as they want while still losing weight too and carbs are converted to bodyfat a little less efficiently.

That's why keto/carnivore says if you're constipated to eat more fat, obviously that means some fat is going undigested and if you start eating too much fat you might get diarrhea.

>It doesn't cause any hydration problems.
Complains about dehydration aren't that uncommon with keto/carnivore. Glycogen would hold about a half gallon of fluid so you're losing that. It's probably why a lot of people complain of fatigue and thirst and how to manage it.
>>
>>21660066
Also, something interesting is that weight issues may not just be about carbs, but what kind of carbs. There's a good bit of information on how starch is what causes weight gain in some people because they aren't digesting it properly and it leads to overeating and that sugar is actually okay for them. That the demonization of sugar has ended up causing some problems and the claims about it being so bad aren't really based on fact. Refined sugar doesn't provide any other nutrients so it's not an ideal food but some people end up losing weight and feeling better by reducing starch but continuing to consume sugars.

>The morons on this shit board can mock the ketogenic diet but they will probably die from cancer before their time.
fruits lowers your risk of a lot of health issues including cancer but keto will exclude most fruit
>>
>>21660242
True but a lot of the beneficial micros you get from fruit are also found in a lot vegetables I guess. There's also low sugar ones like avocados obviously. I'm not saying a regular diet is bad I'm not on keto I just think the people that love to shit on the diet are probably know it all fatasses for the most part and shitting on it makes them feel better about their own shitty eating habits.
