I bought this from an estate sale. Will this kill me?
Doubtful but it's probably vile
>>21657256we will see
>>21657244Isn't that usually consumed very young and fresh?
the cork looks good.
>>21657244>beaujolais nouveau>2001lol
perhaps, a sign
>>21657256its beaujolais nouveau there is no doubt its vile
>>21657244how much was it?
>>21657302$10. I was really curious
>>21657286>>21657244Beaujolais Viejo>>21657256it was vile the day it went into the bottle.the first and only time I tried this stuff, **I shit you not** it was from this same year. I was living in a shitty, drug-o & lifetime loser apartment complex just out of high school. I drank a bottle with some strippers that also lived there. ruby, letha, and two others I can't remember. we watched Even Horizon.good God, I'm glad I got my shit together.
This cork is hellish, but the smell coming off is not too bad. >>21657307I'm glad you are out of that. Event Horizon was cool though.
Man
Here it is. The color in real life is a bit more like a reddish cognac. Suprisingly it smells alright, however I admittedly don't have a very detailed nose. Sweet fruity, however a nutty final smell. Time to try it.
>01 nouveauNo chance. You’re 24 years outside its drinking window.
Well I didn't projectile vomit all over myself and die, and honeslty, it is pretty alright. The main tastings I get are not very diverse, those being a sour green grape front, and a very dry raisin, minorly sweet, finish. It reminds me a lot more of a white wine. I guess my consensus is, if you ever see this at an estate sale, it might be actually alright for $30 tops, if it were stored correctly. It definitely turned into something more interesting. The propaganda was a lie.
nouveau is a meme meant to be consumed within 2 months of release, there is very little sulphur, acid, or tannins that would typically protect the wine from aging too rapidly and cause it to lose all of its juiciness in a matter of weekshell, even great pinot from 01 is on its last legs, unless you spring for something super masculine and big
>>21657244those grapes were on the vine while the twin towers were still standing...enjoy OP
>>21657422What about WTC7?
>>21657422Their grapes were still good o7. Thanks.
OP u gud?
>>21657297>>21657307millennials and their performative hate for bojo nouveau are so funny. you would probably pay $45 for a bottle of morgon that smells like pig shit and pretend you're enjoying it
>>21657341looks weird
>>21657493Take your meds
>>21657500I currently take several, which one are you insinuating that I need to take?
>>21657502All of them
>>21657504I would prefer not to do that but thank you for the suggestion
It was fun to buy and drink a bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau when it came out every year. Wasn't expensive, just another excuse to have a minor celebration about something.Haven't done it in forever, didn't realize until this thread there was any kind of hate about it.
>>21657304As a seasoned wine collector let me just say. Wow. Take that to get appraised right away. There were only ten bottles of that vintage made because the truck carrying the rest crashed and only the owners batch was left. It will probably sell for $100-150k.
>>21657640each generation of winos has extremely specific hangups that don't make a whole lot of sense to the others. austrian wine makes you blind. chablis is trash wine for plebs. malo in chardonnay must be avoided at all costs. everything must be oaked to death or it's shit. no oak can ever touch wine or it's ruined. the beaujolais nouveau hate is from the generation that "discovered" beaujolais cru.for the most part, these things come from a fear of being seen as unsophisticated, because the people who perpetuate these dumb memes are, in fact, not very sophisticated.
>>21657341Looks the same as a cheap 15 year old wine I drank a couple months back. They get a weird color over the years, probably from the light or something.
>>21657673and what if i think cru beaujo sucks too?
>>21657798I would suspect you of mistaking the opinions of the mob with an opinion of your ownLike when someone morally questionable passes away but your social credit score depends on a sincere demonstration of grief. You might even believe in it yourself, even if you wouldn't have noticed if the social pressures were different
>>21657798>>21657875oh sorry I misread that as "think beajo nouveau sucks"I happen to agree about cru beaujo, so from this, we can conclude that you are an insightful thinking man with good taste and good sense
>>21657882now that we're on the same page, what's going to be the next wine ick? I expected all the natty, bretty, mousy, stink bomb shit to be gone by now.
>>21657673Good quality sweet wines are a great litmus test for this. So many assholes turn their nose up to anything sweet just because its sweet. >:(
>>21657244>2001 beaujo nouveau lol
>>21657244No, but I will.
>>21658080The brett bomb wave seems to be going away on its own with the gentrification of natty wines, thank god. Though you still see people defending it unfortunately>>21658096That seems to be turning around and I'm in no hurry to make it turn around faster. Sure it's annoying when wine shop guys act like you're a homeless hobo asking for something as ordinary as sherry but I'd rather that than have all the good stuff go up in price 2-3x
>>21658560Most people I've met along the way who've been more knowledgeable about wine than me have been unpretentious and welcoming. I guess I've been lucky.
it will literally taste like eggs
>>21658665There's 2 kinds of wine guy in my experience. One type gets into wine because he likes new things, and wine is a bottomless pit of new and different things. Learning and being surprised is the whole point. The other does it because he perceives it to be an elite club and picking up wine knowledge is basically practice for a future one-upmanship contest.California is absolutely infested with the second group, at least norcal is. I haven't spent much time in socal.
>>21658676>bottomless pit of new and different thingsAll wines taste the same to me. The expensive stuff usually less good.
>>21659111have you tried comparative tasting?
>>21657341I'm a wine noob and even I can tell by the color this is way past its time
>>21658676SoCal is less snooty, at least given the culture I experience around Los Angeles/Santa Barbara and the vineyards of Santa Ynez
>>21657341the purest Gamay
>>21657363thanks for the notes bro interesting experiment
This wine sucks. I drank four bottles of Georges Dubeef Bowjalay alone in my bedroom in 2005 and puked all over myself and my bed. I tried stumbling downstairs to the bathroom while vomit was leaking from my body. The stairs and stairway wall were covered in burgundy puddles and splatters and when I got downstairs I puked on the hallway wall and it went everywhere including the ceiling and the lights and everything. I tried mopping it with up with towels but I just ended up smearing red vomit all over. It looked like a crime scene the next morning. I had do a lot of painting and throw a lot of stuff away. Red wine vomit stains are very hard to remove. Haven't been able to stomach red wine since.
>>21659834>four bottlesWine wasn't the problem here.
>>21657369>pinot from 01Got any recommendations?
>>21657341What did it taste like?
>>21658096Heh, guilty. I tend to classify anything sweet as being at best a Boone's Farm ripoff for girls and teenagers and better off boxed up like Franzia. Then I went and got a few different bottles of cabernet from Costco and I can barely tell the difference.
>>21657278it doesn'tit might indicate taht the bottle has been stored vertically, so the cork might have run dry and the wine turned into vinegar by the oxygen getting inas which you still can use it, for salad dressings etcreading more of thisd thread I see you already found out

>>21660270how deep are your pockets?
Fruity and precocious
>>21660342No. Get a bottle of jj prum auslese for a hot summer day.
>>21660815mein weinbruder, I know all the hipsters love to suck jj prum's cock but kerosene and honeycomb beeswax is strictly wine nerd territory that will scare them off especially at those prices, start them off slow with something lower stakes and crowd friendly. dr loosen urziger wurzgarten spatlese. donnhoff oberhauser leistenberg kabinett. stuff like that. don't go past spatlese and make sure you're giving them enough acid so their guard reflex isn't set off by the onslaught of unrestrained sugar.auslese in summer heat is just a waste imo but maybe it's just me.

>>21661071caucasian, is your screen malfunctioning?
>>21660205I had no such trouble drinking three or four bottles of many, many other kinds of cheap wine before that incident. Georges Dubeef is just fucking nasty.
>>21661075I will apologize when your guys’ posts are relevant in 8 months
>>21657270Yes.
>>21657244>Will this kill me?explain how it would kill you.it would be nice if it did though.

>>21657244But a new bottle and have it with Aligot. You'll be fine.
>>21658676>wine is a bottomless pit of new and different thingsit's not though.
>>21660808Nice, I'd buy bottles up to a hundred or few I guess. Where do you buy them from?
>>21661524Hey you're that faggot from the mommy thread who couldn't come up with a come back lol
>>21661455I look forward to it.
>>21660830Yeah bro white peach and lime juice is so scary. Sounds like your a coping poorfag that has never had a decent gold capsule auslese. LMFAO SAD!!!!!
>>21662342I recognize you, you're the poster who thinks mosel = germany and pradikatswein sugar levels are the only thing you can talk about.
