I ordered 20lbs of chicken thighs on instacart to be delivered to my home.

The shopper instead brought me 20 packages of chicken thighs. Each package weighs around 3lbs.

But I only got charged for 20lbs.

There is no way I can eat all these packages of chicken thighs by the 18th which is the sell by date. They are in air tight sealed packs that are still slightly frozen from the store.

Is it okay to throw some of these back into the freezer or will it give the meat a horrible texture?

I would rather give the extra meat to family and friends than waste it by sticking it in my freezer if it's going to ruin it.

If you freeze fresh chicken from the store, it'll come out fine for weeks after. Just seal it in a freezer bag and get rid of air pockets. Sometimes stores sell those bags of frozen wings/legs/etc that have been laying around at various temperatures for ages so they come out shitty and rubbery. That won't happen in your freezer.

Can any anon identify the beer brands? The can design should help narrow down the year.
>>
Why aren't refrigerators femineereed anymore? You'd think with all the women out there pretending to be engineers now, we'd have a lot of femineered products, but no, maybe because they all forgot how to cook.
>>
>>21659085
>Can I freeze meat?

>>
>>21664902
He's asking about re-freezing, which is a valid question. Some people think the repeated expansion of water messes with the texture.

However, my paltry anecdotal evidence is that I've eaten twice-thawed steaks and they were fine.
>but anon why would you do tha-
Bought steak from store, froze it, later thawed in fridge, applied rub, back in fridge before grilling. Then my schedule got ruined so I chucked it back in the freezer, then thawed again a week later. And it was fine, at least my my pleb standards.

>>21664988
It was a different time anon, she probably had six strapping boys who would devour an entire chicken at each meal and then fight over the bones.

Just imagine what it was like to live in a time when people could get so excited about refrigerators. When you buy one now, it's all about spending hours of research online, trying to find which shitty Chinese contraption has the least amount of "smart" features and is least likely to die within 2 years. ("Survivor bias" be damned, the refrigerators of my youth were tanks, even if they weren't especially energy efficient and sometimes killed small children.)

I have gone honestly crazy for the last few hours trying to do this but no luck.
>stella
They don't use the red block with white text design until much too late for this picture, and in any case they never have the star way above the top
>lone star
Similar deal, the star is smaller and always associated more closely to the text
>bottom one with the gold swoop design
Genuinely hopeless. I've done a deep dive of american brands from various regions, looked at UK, german, polish, italian, even USSR beer... no dice anywhere on either. I'm tempted to call it AIslop but I don't think it's that either.
>>
>>21664919
It's a valid question for someone who can't cook, yeah, but that's sort of my point there.
>>
>>21665114
I actually found a stupid AI company that has a specific model for identifying beer cans, but their result was PBR which is obviously wrong. (Fuck you robots.) I'm still hoping to find an old-school 90s site of some autist cataloging his can collection. I knew a guy who did this, in particular collecting "beers from all 50 states", but he allegedly sold the collection years ago. (More probably he was forced to trash it by his fat wife.)

>stella
Good eye, Stella was my first guess for the top too. However, this pic looks American, and I doubt that Stella Artois was being imported back then (correct me if I'm wrong).

For the lower beers, my first thought was Hamms, due to their enduring blue/gold color scheme. I still think that's a real possibility.

The real mystery is wtf is that giant can in the upper right. What could possibly be so important to take up space in a dedicated beer fridge (based btw)? Beans?

>I'm tempted to call it AIslop but I don't think it's that either.
Agreed. I hate that we have to second-guess everything now (not that shoops weren't a thing before) but I think it's real. The only possible anomaly I see is a possible lack of depth to the TV set, but that could be explained by imperfect alignment with the fridge.

I do not think American is strictly necessary. There is no clear indication that this picture is in the US though I do consider it likely, and in any case they could be taking a picture to commemorate their haul of imported beer from wherever. It's not even completely certain that the text on the cans is latin alphabet and definitely not guaranteed english, I would say there's room for cyrillic or some other similar-enough alphabet. Both designs are so striking and clean that I really want to be able to identify them, I feel like someone who has seen them before would get it instantly.
>top shelf
White can. Red geometric block that might be called 'ticket stub' shaped, with white text - two words, top word is maybe one letter longer than the second. Blocky typeface, appears vaguely stylized like it has aggressive use of serifs. Spot, star, or perhaps small emblem high above and centered over the text block. Not stella, budweiser, rainier, or any other American or American-available beers I could identify with a typically white and red color scheme.
>bottom shelf
Gold can with light grey inlay, or light grey can with gold inlay - depends how you interpret it, the can is about half each. The design is very "70s" looking, with smooth swooping lines and large repeating forms. The shape of the colored areas evokes perhaps a long-necked bottle or a baker's peel. The text is thinner, gold, and more of a classic-style typeface as opposed to the more aggressively stylized text of the top shelf can. Two words again, this time the second is noticeably shorter than the first, maybe 3 or more letters difference. Not coors, olympia, miller, or any other brand I know of with a predominantly gold color scheme.

Blue and green, popular beer label colors, do not seem to appear anywhere on either can - maybe in small amounts e.g. on the small emblem on the top shelf can, but not as significant features visible at low resolution. So what the fuck are the beers???

>You got the 60lbs of chicken that they were about to throw away

It's either this or you just got a retarded worker at the store. The way Instacart used to work, in all cases, was that the Instacart shopper would go to the grocery store and scan individual items with their phone and then when the phone confirmed it was the correct item, they put it in their cart, and then pay at checkout with their Instacart credit card.

However, since 2020 or so, Instacart has often partnered directly with grocery chains. Certain grocers will have their own in-store shoppers, who pack orders for Instacart and also pack orders for people who just order from the grocery store's website without using Instacart or a similar app.

Most likely, their in-store shopper didn't bother to confirm the difference. Or it was about to be expired and they said screw it. OR there was a deeper glitch in the system and the bar-code scanning was indicating this incorrectly.

I used to work in DoorDash corporate on this kind of shit. The biggest areas in which grocery delivery fucks up are when you change quantities of items. That's why it's extremely common to order say 2 single bananas and you get 2 bunches of bananas.

Most likely OP you ordered 20lbs of Chicken Thighs, but they probably only had it pre-packaged in the 3lb bags (especially since you got Members Mark which means Sam's Club). And so they probably had no way to give you 20lbs, and just figured 20 packages was the easiest way to fulfill the order
>>
>>21660077
When did you work for Instacart? They've partnered with some grocers for years now. Oftentimes and Instacart shopper will show up to the store and the order is already packed and ready to go, they just pick it up and deliver. It's entirely possible the shopper did not make this error.

Also, you can sometimes override the barcode scanner and manually input the item, it is possible the shopper did this.

Or there could be an error at Instacart itself, and it scanned the 3lb item as a 1lb item
