Why didn't /ck/ ever tell me how delicious this was? Out of curiosity, I bought a can of it, fried it up, threw it on some wheat bread with mustard and cheese slices, and DAMN.
>>21663347tastes like a salt lick when cooked. Idk how you guys do it but canned meat ain’t it for me
>>21663347We didn't want to make fun of you being white trash any more than you get teased on a daily basis.
why would we, we're not your mother
Spam prices are out of control.
>>21663361I got the low sodium version. It's much better. Because I know what you mean, which is why I avoided it for so many years.
Because its overly salty processed mush. I get it if you are super poor stuck on a pacific island, but eat some real meat if you live in civilization.
>>21663347>fry up some potatoes and eggs>cook the spam till it's crispyyeah it's breakfast time
>>21663404pussy
>>21663347It can be good. Spam musubi made it a lot more popular over the past couple decades I'd say.
>>21663347We genuinely all hate you.
Because the Hawaiians have successfully gaslit the entire world into believing spam is trash poor people food so they can hoard the entire supply of it for themselves.
>>21663383This, I’m not paying $3 a can for Spam
>>21663383Buy store brand. I like the low sodium jalapeno generic brand spam.
mmm salt
>>21663361>tastes like a salt lickBoil 5 minutes first. Sodium Nitrate's nasty. Alternatively, shave off a sacrificial bit of the meat cube. Vinegar/sweet sauce to temper the pig essence further as required.
>>21663429And that is why we should nuke Hawaii, to secure the spam reserves.
>>21663970Anyone dumb enough to buy spam doesn't care about the nitrates in it.
>>21663414>spam and rice:/>spam and rice Japanese:0
>>21663383Trvke
>>21663414Love me some spam musubi. I get it from a Japanese grocery store down the block. It's not the cheapest but the convenience is worth it. I just wish they had yakisoba-pan too.
>>21663970This nitrate fear again? I thought we cleared that up a longtime ago... Nitrosamine are carcinogenic but Nitrates aren't. Nitrosamines are compounds made by combining amino acids and nitrates under very high heat, much higher temps than your typical frying pan temperatures. You need to quite literally char the meat for it to build up in quantities high enough to be slightly concerning long term if you eat that stuff often.
>>21664181It's hawaiian thoughbeit
>>21664315no it's not
Spam thread
>>21663347>Why didn't /ck/ ever tell me how delicious this was?right? smells nasty when cold, but fired it taste like pork roast. wish I had known that 50 years ago.
>>21663404original spam is not salty in the slightest.
>>21663347>wheat breadTry a bun next time, make yourself a Spamburger hamburger.
>>21663347I like it I don't care what anyone thinks about it you're right fry it up and it's ready to go
>>21666267How much salt is in that
>>21663364um sweety, Spam has been reclaimed by hipsters and second generation hip asians like 7 years ago. its peak bourgeois food now. (especially considering the price)
>>21663414If one was to make this how the hell do you form the rice so perfectly and how does it not immediately fall apart?
>>21663347Cause it's processed lard and salt? It's the most bottom barrel meat you can get from the corner store, and it isn't even cost effective.
Three cheers for Spam fried rice. My mom always used to make this.
>>21668218the Walmart knockoff luncheon meat or whatever it's called is basically identical and way cheaper
>>21663383>>21663819how did this happen? they were always advertised as cheap canned meat foodespecially the fact that they are made from scraps of meat that people don't buy, same with vienna sausages and hotdogs
>>21663347I like to put it on grilled cheese
>>21666267I want to make this.
>>21669411Explain your process
>>21670174>grill cheese>put spam on frilled cheese>eat>nom
>>21670177>try cutting a slice of spam for a sandwich>comes out shaped like a quarterpipe>take my own life
>>21670177You just slice the spam and put it in cold? Even heating it alongside the cheese sounds better
>>21670180Maybe you could try cutting the spam thin, searing the meat itself (akin to a fried bologna), and then putting the seared meat onto the grilled cheese along with the cheese. Put the cheese on both sides of the spam meat so there are less uncooked patches of cheese.
>>21670174>cut Spam into pieces of desired thickness, usually 1/8 of a can per slice>assemble grilled Spam and cheese in following order: bottom slice of bread, cheese, Spam (two pieces per sandwich), cheese, top slice of bread>cook like you would cook grilled cheese
>>21671342oh yeah I forgot to mention that you fry the Spam on both sides before you put it on the sandwich like >>21670476 said
>>21666478Make sushi rice (rice vinegar + sugar + salt, google ratios) to make it sticky, line the spam can with plastic and use it as a mold.
>>21663819its $4.59 in Eugene, Oregon
>>21663347nigga u aint never heard of no muthafuckin spam
Poor man’s Taylor Ham
>>21663347its really good, but i cant get over the fact it smells like poop
>>21663383its rough but its always worth it for the shelf life. A pack is so handy on a camping trip too for those hardy early morning prehike meals.
>>21663383Great Value (Walmart) brand tastes just like the real thing and is $2 a can.
slice some thin to get more crispy, and some thicker
>>21671634>its $4.59 in Eugene, Oregon
>>21663347who eats this slop besides burgers
I grew up eating this goyschloppa. I tried some recently and vomited. Total industrial taste. Just eat real meat FFS.
>>21672077>tried some recently and vomited.liar
>>21663347Would you try Spam pizza?
>>21664324Yes it is, spam musubi was invented in Hawaii
>>21672703Chop it up into cubes and fry it beforehand so its crispy. Like putting pre-cooked bacon on a pizza. I could see that working pretty well. Hawaiian style of course, but just simple with mushrooms and onions would be great too. And definitely witn jalapenos
>>21672703I like how they specify serving it after the football game because no one would eat this shit sober.
>>21663383>>21671683My local Aldi has their canned pork cubes for like $1.75, there's no reason to be buying for anything more than $2 unless you NEED the flavored variants I.E you're preparing for total financial collapse or going camping. And Walmart has the bacon and lite flavored versions as well if you want variants on a budget.
Spam is such a thoroughly American thing and I'm jealous. I don't think it's even possible to have such a product here in Europe because of retarded regulations.
>>21666267would
>>21663347$7 a can in Australia honestly unless you're a doomsdayer you're better off getting normal ham
>>21670177>frilled cheese
>>21669395>Product is used by poorer people >Product is spotted by liberal media\agency\individuals >Alternatively maker of the product wishes to up the demand and prices>Product receives coverage>Product is trendy>Prices of product go up>Original users of product cant afford as easily>Corporation profits from product even moreIts the jews basically, with nearly anything if you look hard enough you will find jews or people with jewish behaviours involvedWhy are oxtails more expensive ?JewtubersAvocados used to be like 50 cents before 2011 or so
