Post your favorite family recipes, and be ready to translate the shitty handwriting by typing. There is nothing more special than a family recipe with a memory, so be sure to share how and why it's special. It's okay if your grandma's secret recipe ends up being some corporate Pillsbury or Kraft fantasy fudge, what's important is the memories behind it and if it's good or not.

Turkey Florentine
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 20-30 Minutes
Serves: 4 to 6
Ingredients:
8 ounces (1 cup) egg noodles
1 package frozen, chopped spinach, thawed
1 1/4 cups milk
1 envelope chicken gravy mix
1 cup diced cooked turkey
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, if desired
1 cup shredded Cheddar or American cheese

Directions:
Step 1-Cook noodles in salted water until tender, about 9-11 minutes; drain and spoon into a buttered 1/2 or 2-quart casserole. Cook the spinach in the microwave, drain and arrange spinach on top of the noodles.
Step 2-Combine contents of gravy mix envelope and milk in small saucepan. Heat just to boiling, stirring constantly, until gravy is smooth and thickened. Stir in turkey, mayonnaise, and nutmeg.
Step 3-Spoon over spinach and sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes, until bubbling hot.
4 to 6 servings

This is what my mom always made the day after Thanksgiving with turkey leftovers. I eat it year round personally with those shredded rotisserie chickens from the store.

Pic related. You can make them in individual pyrex dishes and bake them from frozen.

Personally I’d leave out the mayo (just don’t like mayo) but sounds tasty.

Unfortunately the recipes I cared about never got passed down, but I hope to hand over all the ones I like someday

most "secret recipes" came off the back of some ingredient package. they were then made by people who didn't even try to follow them accurately.

the secret to secret recipes is that they aren't really secret.

The mayo is absolutely critical to this recipe it really elevates the creaminess, and then the spinache helps cut through that.

And yeah, but that's fine. I wish people would post some recipes they love. They don't need to be hand written copies that their family used but that would be the best imo

From a friend’s family but apparently this is a recipe they’ve handed down for over 100 years for berry and custard pie:

Fill unbaked pie shell with washed and drained fruit. Fruit can be blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, etc.

Custard
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1-2 eggs
1 cup milk (scant)
Pour over fruit. If using raspberries, be sure berries are not floating on top.
Bake at 375F 30 to 45 minutes (until custard is set)

No Roll Pie Crust
1 ½ cup flour
1 ½ tsp sugar
½ cup cooking oil
3 tbsp milk

Put these 4 ingredients into a 9” pie pan and mix there.
Pour liquid over the flour mixture and mix until the flour is moist. Then pat evenly around sides and bottom fluting edge.
Place fruit on crust, pour custard over fruit and bake.
