>On a tight budget due to upcoming wedding
>Try to make the food budget stretch for this weeks grocery trip
>Hear that pork is very inexpensive compared to beef
We'll see about that
>Find 2lb pork loin roast for TEN (10) dollars
>Comes out of the oven juicy and delicious
>loin made about 12 steaks
I can't believe I've been wasting so much money on beef
>>
Weddings are too fucking expensive for real. It's a stinking scam, all of it.
>>

>$5/lb for pork

>>

If a wedding is fucking with your budget then you can't afford it and it will probably negatively impact your marriage.
>>
>>21668301
>pig one
Kek but seriously ground beef is like $7/lb where I live and actual cuts of beef are like $13/lb
And when you're feeding 2 people a high protein meal every day that adds up.
Compared to pork, chicken is slightly less expensive but I can only stomach so much chicken in a week

You faggots are so gay its unreal. Get married at the church or courthouse. Invite very few people. Save the money, time, and trouble. Make your promise to God and stick with it.
>>
>>21668321
I am, but we also just bought a house so we have no savings to fall back on. I'm not struggling to keep a roof over my head, I'm just struggling to rebuild a financial cushion
>>
>>21668326
>two income household
>still struggling
You've got more to figure out than a wedding, bucko
>>
>>21668330
I mean a wedding and a home purchase within 6 months of each other would be a setback to most.
>>
>>21668335
Which is why you don't bundle the two unless you are well off
>>
>>21668326
We just got courthouse married and put that money towards buying a house a year later. Maybe you've got stars in your eyes about it. We just wanted to be married.
>>
>>21668320
I much prefer the "boston butt" cut to the tenderloin. Usually the "boston butt" is about half the price of the tenderloin anyway. One time the tenderloin went on sale, so I got the tenderloin just to try it, and it was dry and tough compared to the "boston butt". I don't see why people want to waste money to buy a more prestigious but inferior cut of meat.

Why do you retards keep confusing loins and tenderloins?

>>21668295
This is a halal board.
>>
>>21668352
A pork loin and a tenderloin is not the same thing. Also, the way you cook boston butts (either whole or cut into steaks) is totally different. Loins and Tenderloins are very lean cuts. Butts/shoulders are full of fat.
>>
>>21668295
I remember back in the early 2000's before all those faggot ass tv cooks ruined it, boomers & gen xers hated pork loin because it was "too lean". Now it costs three times as much adjusted for inflation.
>>
>>21668361
you know the more people you autistically teach about meat cuts, the higher the prices will get for people who cared in the first place, right? why are you doing this?

beef and lamb are healthier than pork

Retarded reading comprehension. Getting married contains a promise to God. It's the most important part. It establishes the covenant

>Americans didn’t start eating pork until I did and they ruined it.
>>
>>21668295
Pork is almost the biggest bargain/serving right now. Chicken is closer to $2/lb at Aldi. But pork can always be under $3/lb or so. A whole pork loin can be divy'd up into the freezer quite easily.
I kind of wonder if Publix will do the prime rib roast bargains again this Christmas...beef prices are the highest I have ever seen and most of the Winn Dixie (beef competition) is over.
>>
>>21668352
Tenderloin requires very careful temperature control. at 135 I move it to the cold side, or turn the heat off and check it every 3 minutes. Once it gets the 140 or 145, depending on how I'm cooking it, I'll broil it for a couple minutes to get a roast on it and get it up to temp.
Like all meats, the slower you cook it, the more tender the results.
>>
>>21668362
It isn't but what is funny is that if you mention pork on any board, you'll get all sorts of nons talking it down because they hate that yt has an advantage over them - cheap, good tasting protein

When they do pork loin bone in rib roasts for $1.29 lb, that is the greatest deal. I rub them down in spices and cook till 130...then blast it under the broiler to crip it up. It usually carries over to 145 after rest, and then I cut the chops off the bone. That and some potatoes...world class shit for a fraction of the price of fast food.
>>
>>21668300
That's for your greedy whore wife to decide if you spent enough on her to not divorce you in under a year
>>
>>21668295
>Find 2lb pork loin roast for TEN (10) dollars
You got scammed, you shouldn't be paying more than half that off sale.
>>
>>21668300
I don't fucking understand in 2025 with everything financially collapsing that weddings are still a thing. Really shows you how much of our economy is dependent on woman paying for stupid shit
>>
>>21668300
The key is to cheap out on the wedding and save the spending for the honeymoon
>>
>>21668309
Being slightly cheaper than beef is not a good deal for pork loin. That shit should be like $2/lb. You way overpaid for it.
>>
>>21668300
We had 80 guests at our wedding. It was $150 a plate. I remember getting angry when my uncle took literally one bite.
>>
>>21668860
Your uncle wasted a plate of food but you wasted $12k on food.
>>
>>21668295

Jesus. I consider myself a meat minimalist and that's a bit too small for me. 9 steaks? Sure. 12? Maybe if you're a member of the Lollipop Guild
>>
>>21668309
>ground beef is like $7/lb
I find that hard to believe. It's $3.49 in my area. Pre Trump 1, it was $1.49/lb
You're not buying it when it's not on sale, are you? That's the inflated price. Don't do that. The "sale" price is the real one.

Those were ShopRite prices. Y'know. That supermarket chain with locations throughout the northeast? One of the only chains in NYC? That place. It's $3.49 there this week. Just outside of New York, it was $3.79 last week at Acme. If I can get those prices in New fucking York, surely, you can get them in whatever irrelevant corner of America you live in.
$7/lb is the retard price. The pricetag includes the retard tax charged to retards. Just because you're a retard doesn't mean everyone else is.
Stop thinking everyone is as retarded as you are when it comes to shopping, retard.

Look at the bottom of the page for the valid date and to confirm that it is indeed in NYC.

It's 50¢ higher in Brooklyn and Queens but still considerably less than $7/lb:

You should go there sometime. Many locations have florists so you can get a bouquet for Algernon while you're at it, Charlie.

Did you spend that much only because your wife wanted to spend that much and what would have happened if you had said no to her if so?
I'm sorry you lost so much money, but I really don't understand how that happened and how you couldn't or didn't stop it.

It's the guy who married the Indian. Indian weddings are expensive as fuck.
>>
>>21669417
Anon, I could afford it. I make good money as a lawyer. It pissed me off at the time sure, but she got her dream wedding and I get to grumble about it to her for the rest of our lives.

>I get to grumble about it to her for the rest of our lives.
I don't know why you would want that.

I’ve cut back on beef heavily, but pork now costs what beef costed a few months ago, and it’s just not worth it. I buy loads of chicken though. Less than a dollar per pound for quarters and legs, and I think 3 bucks for cheap breasts. If you do stick with pork, pork burgers are a lot better than they should be
>>
>>21669674
>lawyer
None of this matters because you are going to hell
>>
>>21670010
I'm generally a hater of beef and lover of pork and even I think pork makes for a shitty burger. All non-beef meats do. I'd rather have a veggie veggie-burger (I mean the shit with bits of actual veg in it; dem fucks is delicious, bruh) than any non-beef burger.
>>
>>21668352
boston butt is like 50% fat and gristle and pork tenderloin is as lean as chicken breast
you should cook them completely differently.
>>
>>21668883
Even a few months ago it was on sale regularly for $4/lb now it's $5-5.50

>>21669460
No, that's me. We didn't do the big fuck-off Indian wedding, though but now that not one but two of her younger cousins are getting married within a month if each other and are trying to one-up one another with it all, she's gotten FOMO over not having had one. I mean… with the money we woulda put towards that shit, we were able to buy an apartment building and get steady income so I'm pleased with our decision. Given the choice between three days of partying or years of steady income, it's steady income for me every time.
But now she's kinda wishing my pardesi-ass wasn't so practical. Just this once.

I like pork but I had a string where all of the pork I bought at the store was tainted with that bad pork taste. it wasn't expired or anything it just tasted like shit. is there a way to identify if the meat is tainted before you cook and eat it?
