I have an autoimmune disease and a family history of autoimmune health issues, I cant handle many seeds, grains or gluten, what kind of diet should I go on without restricting my diet too much? I am thinking that Keto would do me pretty well
>>
Yeah keto would be good.
>>
>>21670826
Do you have issues with sugar or root vegetables? No reason to cut them out unless you're sure they cause problems. Fruit is generally helpful. Maybe eat cooked fruit instead which some people tolerate more.

There's an autoimmune diet protocol, it has a list of foods that are most likely to cause problems for you to avoid and see if it helps. Then you could slowly test things to see what you tolerate.
>>
>i only have a problem with a small subset of foods. what diet do i go on that doesn't change things too much? i know, i will remove ALL carbohydrates!
this is why doctors always give ridiculous blanket treatments. the patient can never be trusted to make correct decisions
>>
just give up dairy protein and see how fast your problems go away. (butter is fine)

milk is for babies, not a single adult of any species drinks milk.
>>
>>21670917
I don't have any issues with dairy. Why does dairy in particular seem to make people mental when they have problems with it and say nobody else should have it either? People don't do that with peanut or fish allergies.

>milk is for babies, not a single adult of any species drinks milk.
It's not true milk but there are "dairying ants" that essentially do the same thing with aphids.

Are you the OP who says he has autoimmune problems?
So you don't know what foods are exacerbating your autoimmune issues, but you don't want to consider the possibility that casein might be playing a part?

try switching to A2 milk.
>>

>Are you the OP who says he has autoimmune problems?
No.

>So you don't know what foods are exacerbating your autoimmune issues, but you don't want to consider the possibility that casein might be playing a part?
I did try giving up dairy or having A2 milk and it made no difference. Actually I felt worse with no milk.

Anyway my issues were legumes and starch. I'm doing a lot better since giving those up. But I'm not going to tell everyone that potatoes and peanuts are unnatural and they can't have them.
>>
>>21670924
Lactose tolerance is a proven substantial genetic and civilizational advantage, so people without are guaranteed to seethe about it on some level.
Similar phenomena can be observed with short, stupid, and ugly people
>>21670826
Sashimi does it for me
>>
>>21670938
>But I'm not going to tell everyone that potatoes and peanuts are unnatural and they can't have them.
That's not what I'm saying. I said give it up and see if you feel better.
Why are you so resistant to somebody experimenting with exclusion diets to see what's causing the inflammation?
>>
>>21670940
>Lactose tolerance is a proven substantial genetic and civilizational advantage, so people without are guaranteed to seethe about it on some level.
Lactose is a sugar. I'm not talking about lactose. I said protein (casein)
>>
>>21670917
OP here
I dont think I could give up milk.
its the one food item I crave the most and I drink about a half a gallon a day and also a lot of cheese and kefir, is the protein actually that bad for you?
>>
>>21670948
>its the one food item I crave the most and I drink about a half a gallon a day and also a lot of cheese and kefir, is the protein actually that bad for you?
Some people have casein sensitivity, this can be misdiagnosed as lactose intolerance (but it's different).
Switch to A2 milk for a couple weeks and see if your symptoms get better.
A2 milk has the inflammatory form of casein taken out.
>>
>>21670948
No, whey and casein protein are literally the most bioavailable sources of protein and quite good for you as long as you're not allergic. It's also pasteurized, so perfect for an immunocompromised person.
Try Jersey/A2 milk and see how it works out for you
>>
>>21670942
>milk is for babies, not a single adult of any species drinks milk.
This was the problem. Some people have issues with dairy and it can be worth trying to give it up to see if it helps. But saying stuff like that is just being dramatic and not contributing anything useful.
>>
>>21670917
So, is your insinuation that if a behavior isn't found in nature, then it's disadvantageous to health
>>
>>21670975
i think we should force immunocompromised people to eat raw wild-caught fish and see what happens
>>
>>21670975
>So, is your insinuation that if a behavior isn't found in nature, then it's disadvantageous to health
No, my insinuation is that you can probably live just fine without it.
>>
>>21670981
I just am trying to get a clearer picture of your logic flow here. Are you saying that if you can potentially live fine without it, you should live without it?
>>
>>21670979
I think we should force people on this board to make coherent posts that are relevant to the post that they're replying to.
>>
>>21670984
No. I'm suggesting a simple elimination diet.
If you stop eating something and you feel better, then you should probably stop eating it.
>>
>>21670987
OK thanks for clarifying

You can go full carnivore as an elimination diet and slowly add back in foods that agree with you. Or try keto and only cut out the carb heavy foods. I am doing keto and it's going great.

>>21670880
Elimination diets have their place in determining what foods are safe. Animals contain all nutrients that animals need to stay alive.

>>21670917
Humans are animals. We've drank it for so long we are adapted to it now. Well, if you are white. Why would OP cut out a huge, nutritious foodgroup that he can digest without issues?
>>
>>21670987
OP made no mention of milk. But identified other foodsthat cause him issues. Why are you so weirdly insistent on him cutting out milk and why did you open with a tired vegan talking point and not your actual, reasonable position?
>>
>>21670826
Well there is only about 7 foods eaten worldwide for caloric density, so there's not much to work out.

Wheat, rice, corn, potato's, meat, dairy and certain fruits (mostly bananas/plantains)
>>
>>21670826
>What foods to eat for immune health?
other than vitamin C almost nothing you eat has anything to do with immune health. it's all genetics, and how much you were exposed to germs as a child.

whites overall probably have the highest rate of lactase persistence across total population but there are significant numbers of african and middle easterners that are the same as well
>>
>>21670826
don't eat highly processed food, i.e. almost every ready made food from the supermarket since there is a shitload of potentially inflammatory chemicals in it
>>
>>21670826
Quinoautist here, I find it very easy to digest and it has great nutritional values. Key imo to avoid the saponins is to get the white quinoa (which means it has the hull removed) and to soak it for a while before cooking (i change the soak water twice)

I dont think you understand how autoimmune diseases work. If anything, you should avoid stuff that boost immunr system activity.
