Is it me or are fortified wines underrated?
That's not a very strong opinion.
>>21674015I'm sorry, what should I have sit that you would like more?
>>21674016How about you sit on my cock.
>>21674008the thought of pouring MD 20/20 into glasses like this made me LoL. surely that’s not what you meant though
>>21674008I just use them for cooking. Mostly madeira.
>>21674048I don't know what that is, I was thinking a nice glass of madeira or port.
>>21674008some of them yeah, others have exactly the reputation they deserve, like buckfast.
>>21674084I haven't heard of this one either, I wasn't thinking of anything bottom of the barrel.
>>21674094AKA “bum wine”I forgot there was actually fortified wine that wasn’t shitty
>>21674118Yeah, in Australia we've got a few ones that sell for about $4 or $5, but it's not restricted to fortified wines. I wonder how wine that cheap is even possibly made, I'm guessing at that point the drink itself is just wine flavoured water with some alcohol in it.
The sherry craze that happened 10 years ago would suggest otherwise. I think it's more that wine is already kind of a niche interest and fortified wine is a niche within a niche, so you're not going to have a bar on every street corner with a selection of 20 different sherries and ports by the glass>>21674094Harvey's Bristol Cream is technically "not bottom of the barrel" but it's still awful, and it's still fortified wine, I think we need to admit that fortified wine has a problem
>>21674242>sherry crazeDoes sherry even exist by itself? Seems they just produce it for whisky fags who complain that they can't get enough casks of it.
i like dry ones, but the dry ones dont get imported to where i am
>>21676585based
after a long and perilous wine journey, I can safely say that Madeira is the king of dessert wine
>>21674290Yeah, in coastal wine hipster subcultures at least. Maybe if you didn't live in NY or SF it didn't affect you
>>21674290My grandma used to drink gallons of the stuff, unfortunately it seems like the target market is literally dying off
>>21674008They are quite underrated, living in France i see very few of them being sold even though i think they have huge potentialSince they're not very liked you dont get high quality fortified wines in supermarket or even wine shops even though we have an old tradition of making them
>>21676669Old British women always were the main target group.
sherry and port have a reputation for being old people drinks and unlike brandy/cognac have yet to truly find a younger demographic of any race that rediscovers it better for me though given it's kept prices relatively cheap especially compared to scotch
>>21674290for me, its Fino
>>21674008For me, it's the 10 year port.
