Someone here claimed a while ago that putting ranch dressing on pizza was something that arose in the past decade or so.

Bullshit. We were doing this with Gumby's pizza and Pokey Stix when I went to college over twenty years ago.

I've discovered that getting an order of cheesy garlic bread like this is excellent as a base for your culinary masterpieces. I personally like to get spicy salami and smoke turkey, layer the meats on top of it and then cover it with ranch and honey mustard and chopped up chicken fingers.
>>

Is there Gumby’s in every college town?
>>
>>21678361
There used to be many more. One time I had to go to Madison for work and got all excited about the Gumby’s there until finding it was closed down

Do Americans really?
Obesity epidemic is truely a mystery

Did it in gradeschool on pizza day and so did dozens of other kids in the 90s, so yeah, bullshit. Loved it then, hate it now though.
>>
We dipped pizza in ranch back at Godfather's pizza and Round Table Pizza in the early 90s.
>>
>>21678227
>in the past decade or so.
I know for a fact it was being done in the 80's.
>>
>>21678227
Do you remember Secret Pizza? Also I used to get weed delivered by Gumbys.
>>
>Ranch on pizza
>Past decade or so
I'm 32 and I specifically remember it was always the weird gross kids who put ranch on their pizza back in grade school, so 1997-2003. Yet another case of zoomers thinking the world and everything in it started with them.

It's a Midwest/mountain west thing that has finally spread to other places. No one would ever think to do that, when I grew up in Florida, I didn't see that kind of stuff until I moved to Montana, where they put ranch on everything. Now when I go down to visit family, I'll see people putting ranch on pizza.

I remember hearing about it but I never got to try it myself. I heard all kinds of crazy stories but I do remember he was never in the same place twice and he’d top your pizza with the most random shit

>Godfather's pizza
Loved that buffet when I was a kid but even back in my podunk Iowa hometown, Godfather's is gone.
>>

figures. this is a retarded trashy pretentious hick shithole and these people have no idea what good food is
>>
>>21678227
I have not thought about Gumby's pizza in 30 years. Only had it once but I remember it being decent pizza, better than what papa johns or pizza hut serves today. But back then there was a local favorite called Garcia's that was even better.

Ranch on pizza, or anything really, has been a huge thing in California for ages. I personally like it on my fries too. Ketchup is trash and should just be dumped in the garbage where it belongs.

NYC here, there's a pizzeria near me that started offering cups of ranch. I don't know who gets it besides tourists though.
>>
>>21678227
Slobs in the middle of the country have been pouring mayonnaise based products on pizza for decades.
>>
>>21680345
Ranch is for specifically absolutely shit pizza, since it masks the bad tastes/dryness. That chewy, diaper crust pizza like Papa Johns, you kind of want ranch or something to dip the crust in so it isn't just tasteless bread.
There's no reason to dip NY pizza.
>>
>>21680465
No, but even NY has plenty of substandard pizza, like any city. You may not be dipping crusts but ranch would probably fix a $1 slice if you drizzled it on top.

>America is a large country with different regional tastes

>ranch on pizza kind of sucks anyways.
>some chain has probably been doing it before most of us were born

A whole fucking pizza for $2.55?

>3 meals a day
>2 snacks a day
>soda or juice with every meal
>all foods covered with sugar and/or oil
>can only drive because public transportation is terrible
>use mobility scooter at the store
>apps to order anything to your residence
yeah crazy haha
>>
Even Pizza Hut had ranch in the 90's
>>
>>21681286
No, they didn't.

This shit started in the 90's because Dominos would give you ranch dip for your buffalo wings. Autistic kids started putting the ranch on the pizza because they couldn't figure it out.

Yes, they did. It was on the salad bar. I got it all the time, zoom zoom.

Having it at the salad bar isn't the same as promoting its use with your pizza, you fucking idiot.
>>
>>21682495
>oh it's 10 feet away, I certainly can't use it on pizza. I better wait until they put it in specially labeled cups so I know it's okay to use!
Are you really this retarded?
>>
>>21682505
It's a well-understood fact of marketing that you often have to promote something to get people to do it, even if it seems obvious. And by "people" I mean "enough to potentially change how you offer your product line".
>>
>>21682508
This kid never thought outside the box
>>
>>21682524
Many people don't. To maximize your profits, you must often convince them to do otherwise.
