Oxo pour over electric kettle is sold out everywhere or 3x the normal price. Its temp is accurate to 10F. what should I do?>Fellow Staff EKG ProHipster, overpriced, build quality issues>Cuisinart CPK17Cbeeps louder than a fire alarm and can't be disabled>brewista artisanloses temp too quickly, reports of paint chippingAll I want is:- electric kettle with temp control- stainless steel and glass wherever possible, no plastic- gooseneck designWhat does /ck/ use?
>>21679722>What does /ck/ use?stovetop one that whistles
>>21679735Sounds good for the apocalypse but it isn't as efficient, fast, or as safe as an electric unfortunately
Bonavita 1LI actually gave mine away because I realized I needed my kettle to dump massive amounts of boiling water fast, but it's great if you're a pourover fag. Has digital temp control for all types of coffees and teas.
>>21679744This looks reasonably priced, based.
the cheapest one from a brand you recognizet. euro
Chefman is like $20It's glass and has a blue light so it looks cool
>>21679744Came here to rec this. I've gone through several in the past decade of very heavy daily use, and each kettle lasted until the physical components wore out- no electronics failures or planned obsolescence shit. They're pricier than they used to be but still an excellent deal for the quality. I've been tempted at times to "upgrade" to a Stagg but really dislike that they're 0.9L and not a full liter.
>>21679722i have the hario one, no complainsit is fairly expensive though
>>21679722kitchen aid make the goat kettlethe one with variable temperature
>>21679722Are you in North America? You should clarify because the options are going to be different. The 120V mains electricity means the kettle won't work as well as one in a European country.
>>21680980you can still get a 2kw kettle in america
>>21680980Canada, yup.
>>21680619i have one as well. its well worth the price imho, especially if you are into temp sensitive stuff
Are those chinese stagg knockoffs worth it? I regularly see them for around 60 CAD. Should I just spend the extra and get a Cuisinart or Hario?
>>21679735For me it's Alessi 9091 and it's melodic whistle that reproduces the notes mi and si Designed by none other than the great Richard Sapper.>>21679739Stovetop kettle is faster on induction than my electric one that is not used anymore. 400v vs 220v
Had a stagg ekg for like 7 years now. No issues.
>>21681124>$200 for a kettledamn, the whistle can be a little harsh on mine, but I think I'm fine with that
>>21681201Thinking about the Corvo EKG Pro since I drink tea, ramen, and could use the pre boil feature to sanitize water for medical purposes (chronic nosebleeds). I read about how awful the temperature sensor can be (you take the pot off, cool it down, then put it back on and it still reads a high temp). Does your paint peel or chip?>>21681091I'd also like to know this>hariooriginal gooseneck design but hasn't innovated.. loudest kettle which rattles when it boils. Also needs a transformer. This is the one time where I wouldn't buy Japanese.>>21681124Looks pretty but that whistle really does sound like a GTA NPC which was shot while driving and is slumped over the car horn
>>21681720>loudest kettle which rattles when it boils. Also needs a transformer. This is the one time where I wouldn't buy Japanese.I heard it has the most accurate temperature control.
>>21681745https://www.reddit.com/r/pourover/comments/1j77p9m/made_in_japan_hario_power_kettle/I know, Reddit but still, this review put me off from considering it
>>21681758>made in ChinaHmmm... Are there any electric Buenos made in Japan? Are they all from China?
>>21679722they scale up pretty bad so be sure to wash whatever you get with some vinegar every couple of months
>>21681795A household water softener is well worth it.
>>21681795I used a big bag of citric acid powder for the water distiller at work and it worked wonders
I've been using the bonavita electric gooseneck kettle for 10 years with minimal problems.
>>21679735I just use a saucepan, don't need another appliance taking up space.
Cheat. Run a new 240v plug off your stove mains and buy the EU version of the American product you want. Your water will boil in half the time.
>>21679722I use the Xiaomi Electric Kettle. It has exact temperature control built right into the handle. For example I can set it to 80C for tea and it gets to exactly this temperature. Then it keeps it at this temperature until I actually pick up the kettle. So if I start the kettle, then pick it up an hour later because I get distracted, it's still 80C.You can make your own preset temperatures, I use 80C and 90C, and there's another button for boiling (100C).Inside is stainless steel, outside is modern (fits my kitchen well). No gooseneck design, but desu I prefer that because it uses less space.
>go to nearest shop>buy cheapest kettleWala
Ascot kettle looks nice if you don't need temp control. Its primary feature is complete steel interior, even including the lid which is rare.
>>21681124>gets calcinated and produces only ti and dongmi
>>21682281great, tanks to supeliol science of ching chong ding dong you can have your tea too cord arr day wong.
