What foods have you noticed are better fresh than packaged or canned? I would say pineapple. Canned pineapple has no flavor.

It's the canning process. The pineapple is basically boiled and all the flavor leaks out into the liquid.
It also kills all the enzymes and vitamins. Fresh pineapple is 20x more healthy

i try to get everything frozen or fresh
cans are a relic of the past

out of season pineapple also has no flavour

fresh pineapple also starts dissolving the lining in your mouth because of the bromelain which is deactivated by heat. there are some benefits to eating raw fruit like higher vitamin c content but cooked fruit isn't necessarily worse especially since you can typically eat more of it compared to raw.

also i'm not saying canned pineapple is great, you'd still be better off cooking fresh pineapple if you wanted it that way. canned food in general is going to lose a bit of flavor because it sits around for a while.

With some produce it makes no difference. Broccoli, strawberries, blueberries. bell peppers, carrots, and snap peas to name some.
