Nice work, OP. Fried chicken is so good. I soak mine in seasoned buttermilk. I don't make it that often because it requires so much oil and I'm not big on deep frying. But oil is cheap so sometimes I make a big batch. There's always a lot of oil, flour, and seasonings wasted in making fried chicken and I just have to accept that.

Very strange comments. OP's chicken and frying oil look fine. It's a matter of lighting I think. The flour comes off and darkens the oil pretty quickly no matter how much you pat off.
