I made potato and leek soup because people were talking about it in a thread last week. I put dill in it and I can't decide if it's good or ruined. does dill go in potato and leek soup? what about bacon and cheese?

Dill can, but you might need something a little earthier or acidic to play off it. A pinch of cumin and a splash of lemon or a milder vinegar should fix it right up.
A hard sharp cheese will go nicely with it - I'd go with asiago or parmesan over something like old cheddar. Bacon goes with everything.

Food isn't "ruined" if it's not edible, but it's probably not the right taste for what you're expecting from the recipe.
I would add chicken as opposed to bacon or cheese. Potentially carrots also, or celery.
What you're probably noticing is a lack of balance in the flavors.

That bowl has weathered the storm.

Why didn't you take more pictures and actually show the cooking and not just the final product? This just belongs in a "what did you have for dinner" thread.

Don't make a thread to show the end result. A whole thread of your one picture of soup. Fuck off with that.

How much dill are we talking about? To me it’s just a strong celery taste so a little dill shouldn’t hurt.
>>
Next time skip the dill and use smoked paprika, smoked sausage or smoked gouda. Dill is gonna taste weird as an ingrediet. Use water cress or broccoli sprouts for the garnish.

I basically just made my normal potato soup recipe but with leeks instead of green onion. I put the dill in at the end because it seemed like a good idea but then I wasn't sure. basically
>cook bacon and set aside
>cook leeks in bacon grease
>add chicken stock and potato
>boil for 30 minutes
>add cream and cheese
>garnish with bacon

People are fucking retarded. My last cooking thread some troll kept calling me poor and claiming I can't cook to despite all evidence to the contrary. You're letting them win. No matter what, some prick always has to shit on everything because this board is filled with miserable people who do that.
Post your dark kitchen anyway. Don't give these whining faggots any power. They don't even have kitchens. They post purely out of envy and bitterness of your abundance and ability to create.
Rub their faces in it.

hows tomato and potato soup?
>>

People are always going to complain. Also bacon might be overpowering the dill. It's a relatively delicate flavor, though it certainly can work very well with potato and leek. I must agree with other OP that the balance is probably off (and celery/carrots would work nicely).

>every country in the world has their version of beef stew
I'd say it was a pretty good success

like a non-dairy tomato bisque.
It would need something. Garlic or onion for sure, probably browned or cured meat.

I've seen the Heinz one in British specialty grocery stores. Any good?

it's alright, as tinned soup goes
naturally it stinks compared to home made soup

Still waiting on your beef liver cookalong

Dill can ruin dishes if you use to much, it's too strong and depending on the plant it can be to strong. I don't like it much.
